Mr french polisher, could you give my eyebrows a quick trim after you have dealt with that nasty scatch on my Chippendale table, caused by a third party at my bridge evening this instant. Now there's a good chap, carry on old boy.
@SweetT79 French Polishing is just a method and nothing to do with being French. Although the technique is probably of French origin. It was poplar in 18th century not so much now with more modern methods of filling in scratches in mahogany.
French Polishers you don`t see them much anymore or an advert for Yellow Pages on the tv either. A very young Max Branning ( Jake Wood) bet he cringes when he watches this. How bushy are that lads eyebrows? wonder where he is now??. Classic nostalgia they don`t make them like this anymore as our mums would say lol. x x
My ma just informed me of Max Branning being in this... I used to hate this advert with a passion haha. Seeing it now makes me feel all nostalgic. Still hate it though :p
i actually remember this advert when i was a kid... looking at it now, its amazing he managed to have friends to invite round, state of the eyebrows on him at 0:05!!
But let me tell you, that bit at the end has creeped me out ever since i was a baby. I'm 20 and i'm still freaked out by it. Only just got the courage to look at the end part haha.
The guy's a dick. He should've had the party the night before the night before his parents "flew back" - and he doesn;t wake up with a morning glory, scratching his pubes and busting for a piss??? C'mon...
I thought I was the only one. How many of you were scared by this advert as a child? This used to frighten me, too - the bit at the end (the music, the shocked expression).
But, thanks to you Soopytwist, I've got over my fear of this advert. Thank you very much.
I'm 20, and I know what you mean. Always something a little disturbing about the camera pan to that portrait and that music accompanying it. His expression afterwards don't help much either, he looks terrified!
OMG i cant believe i've finally found this video. I've bin lookin through old tapes recorded off the tele and everythin to find it. Takes me way back to my childhood. Its funny thinkin about it now cos when i was little, the last bit of this advert used to scare me lol. I dont know why now after watchin it agen. The picture the Moustache an tha drawn on it used to freak me out. Im made up if finally found it.
i remember this 89/90, I once sported curtains on my head! give me a eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Hey i really are a french polisher the amount of times people have mentioned this advert. It's good to see it again. It made me chuckle "THANKS FOR POSTING IT"
Some folk think he was Wurzel ot of Murphys Mob (I'm going way back here), but I'm sure the main guy was in an episode of Sharpe (from around 1997) as a shouty annoying soldier.

Does this take place in Edgeware? I knew a whole bunch of kids that were from Edgeware who:
-lived in huge houses with giant mortgages
-had cockney accents despite living in luxury
-had parents who spoiled them rotten
-had parents who eventually lost everything due to overspending

I thought he was going to cover uo the mark with the yellow pages! ( would have been cheaper -- and saved some time )
