You're NOT supposed to jump over the hurdles. Hurdling is not a field (jumping) event. It's a sprinting event. You know how you lift your legs if there's a ledge in the way? Yeah, you usually don't jump over them. Same concept with hurdling. I've been hurdling for 5 Years now. I would know.
