  • I have never been religious or spiritual (there simply isn't enough proof or evidence) yet I cannot say with certainty that it doesn't exist. I live a life without good and evil.

(it helps being a sociopath though ) =p

  • @MrGranitealchemist why say that on a guitar video?

  • I play that to I. Is so good number, but lol at 1:28:D

  • Thanks for the upload!

    REV 18

  • The dislikes were probably all due to the poor quality of the video. What is there to dislike about JW's playing?

  • It's a hard piece to play and to make it sound nice, but JW does it..

  • It's great

  • JW plays this fine (unlike Segovia who butchers it), but for the life of me I will never understand why anyone would play this thing to begin with. It's just an unspeakably bad piece of music. Villa Lobos wrote some fine tunes; this is not one of them.

  • @gmdinformation unspeakably bad? do you mean Villa-Lobos challenged the tonal standards and you dislike that?¨let's see what you wrote, seriously, send them over

  • @josemontenegro777 No, I mean Villa Lobos challenged God's standard of beauty with this one and obviously lost miserably.

  • @gmdinformation now tell me the tritone is evil, medieval age is gone

  • @josemontenegro777 It's a shame stupidity isn't.

  • @gmdinformation Don't be ridiculous brother. I'm religious too, but arguments like this are liable to give us a bad name.

  • @CodyHernek94 If you had anything of the numinous within you, you would recognize this trite nonsense for what it is.

  • @gmdinformation You're certifiably insane.

  • @CodyHernek94 I'll tell you what's certifiably insane--leaving three messages on the idiotnet because you can't get a basic thought across in one.

  • @gmdinformation It's music. It isn't evil just because it's written a certain way. It's just vibrations. take a deeeeep breath and relax.

  • @CodyHernek94 It's stupid, and anyone in the upper half of the IQ spectrum understands as such. Take a nap. You're boring me.

  • @gmdinformation hahaha I wrote more comments because I decided I should try to get through to you instead of just stating the obvious fact that you're insane. You're an ass wipe. I'm sure what ever your messed up view on god is wouldn't be happy with you attempting to insult people. Cutie pie.

  • @gmdinformation hahaha "upper half of the IQ spectrum". You're the exact type of person with a low IQ, any one who feels as if they need to bring their IQ into an argument that has nothing to do with IQ has to be pretty desperate to convince themselves and others.

  • @CodyHernek94 I only come here to listen to Williams play, but I'd be lying if I said this composition wasn't crap. It's almost unlistenable. As to good and evil, I think anything that is beautiful must have something of God in it and therefore be good. That said, the opposite must also be true I think.

  • @rogers53108 Different people see different things as beautiful. How would you explain that then?

  • @CodyHernek94 Evil people have a skewed view of everything.

  • @rogers53108 Okay, well I think this song is great. I read the bible daily and go to church on sundays. I would hope I'm not evil...?

  • @rogers53108 And how about ugly people? Are they too evil?

  • @CodyHernek94 We're talking about art and people's perceptions. An ugly person is an ugly person and should be reconized as such by EVERYONE. An evil person might not even recognize the INHERENT beauty in Niagra Falls, nor the ugliness in Ma Kettle. It's not the object being looked upon that is good or evil in appearance. It's the spiritual state of the viewer that's often amiss. Also, I must say that calling someone "insane" for disagreeing with you will hardly win any arguments.

  • @rogers53108 So if I disagree with someone who calls them self a poached egg I shouldn't call them insane? I wasn't trying to win, I was trying to get through. Okay, If evil has nothing to do with looks than what does it have to do with sound? Everything is art including the way humans look, so when you say "were talking about art..." that doesn't nullify my statement about you thinking ugly people are evil as well.

  • @rogers53108 I think music can convey an evil message just as words can. Are negative words themselves evil though? No, words aren't evil. The only things that can be truly evil are actions.

  • @CodyHernek94 I agree. Music inspires emotion in people both positively and negatively. I actually quit playing guitar for a long time because I started off playing thrash metal and at one of my gigs, people were tearing the place apart. Ripping urinals off of walls, breaking windows and other such stuff and I did not want to be responsible for that. Now I only play "responsibly." And am much happier for it.

  • @GuitarSlinger2112 amen to that, I played in a death metal band last year named her name in stone. You can probably find some of our music online actually. I quit because our drummer said the most blasphemous things I've ever heard so now I play classical guitar prominently.

  • @gmdinformation that's an opinion..

  • @AdamDonoval And a darn good one.

  • WAO, FANTASTIC.... ♥

  • goo

  • This is inspirational...

  • the master.

  • how the fuck does he play it that fast?

  • iron34ify εσύ είσαι μαλάκας. Ο John Williams παίζει φοβερά. Hey guys iron34ify says tha John Williams is an asswhole.

  • I truly dont think villa lobos wouldve wanted much more out of this piece. While should be interpretive, respect must be given to the composer and if you listen to villa lobos actually playing youll understand

  • One of my long time favorite pieces, and played at a very nice tempo here as well.

It's good to see that John Williams is actually human (little slip up at 1:29 hitting that open g string) I was beginning to think he was actually a robot programed by Segovia.

  • @nateandguitar That was the only thing giving me hope lol

  • Comment removed

  • I apreciate his passionate style, like he do in the oder pieces. Congratulations!

  • This is my porn.

  • παλιο μαλακα!!κολογερε

  • @iron34ify elpizw bebaia na mhn apeu8unesai ston terastio Williams

  • anyone can explain me what @JamieSOA is talking about please ?

  • @steloose

He's just saying that in the past, music was pure and great, whereas nowadays, it's corrupted by fashion and image. Which is total bollocks but a lot of classical fans are elitist twats so it got voted up.

  • @Mordain607 ah thanks i thought "image' was technical word

  • This is technically excellently executed. There is some feeling to it, but it still seems a bit clinical to me. I know - who am I to criticize John Williams. John Williams is a hero to me.

  • This brings tears to my eyes.

  • Perfection and greatness are two different things... Even if there was a mistake, this performance is still greatness. I don't think we should ever strive for "perfection", I don't think it's possible.

  • @spicbuddha It's not possible, but should nonetheless always be striven for.

  • that prelude is pure genius.. it always had moved me, always will !

  • 0:57... After the G# in the G string, wouldn't that be a A? He repeats that until he reaches the B, when he follows again my music sheet... Is that just another interpretation, or my music sheet is wrong?

  • aha, il oublie un accord la mi sol si do sol à 2:25 :p.

    Sinon bravo ^^

  • Someone know what guitar does he play?

  • @Ginorevenge He is playing a Greg Smallman guitar here.

  • @dpg25 Thanks

  • Someone know what guitar does he play?

  • 1:28 he made a mistake xD

  • this is one of my favorite pieces. And this is a great interpertation.

  • Hi lessane, (btw williams is the master, shouldve seen his picture when he was younger)

  • legend

  • i hate the crappy quality of the camera, in other words great playing

  • The dynamics here are so rich that it is hard to believe this was recorded live! Awesome.

  • 52 people liked this so much that they pressed the wrong button.

  • @SuscriptorJusticiero Now that is the wittiest dislike count comment I have ever seen.

  • @SuscriptorJusticiero no at least 56

  • @SuscriptorJusticiero I think those people dislike guitar music.

  • viva a música brasileira! Villa-Lobos é épico.

  • 2:28 he plays 2 chords insteed of 3

    I think....

  • Comment removed

  • @pencap23 I've had front row tickets to see twice him and that's the first time I've ever heard him make a mistake.

  • @pencap23 you will fuck up from 0:00 to 4:08 so we don't care what you are saying..... just saying ;)

  • @Venomancer86 Okay okay, I've removed my comment. I should have realized this is youtube. I was simply listening to the song and heard the mistake. Yes, obviously this is a master at work, but it is sometimes nice to know that even the masters make mistakes because it lets us know they are human. Now, if I really wanted to illicit response, I would have to say that I think Steve Vai is a better guitarist than John Williams... ; )

  • @pencap23 Indeed Steve Vai is a better clown and a better show man, but the stiles of both Vai and Williams are so different that you can't compare them anyhow! Take Vai to play some of Barrios masterpieces and you will see how poor actually he is ;) and vice versa ;)

  • @Venomancer86 actually vai is not a poor classical player at all, in the 1986 movie crossroads, steve vai played music (not in full, but enough for ability to show) such as mozarts rondo alla turca, and even paganini's 5th caprici. vai is a master of very many genres, and just because the spotlight is not shown on him for all these kinds of music, does not mean he is anything less than a fantastic musician. it isnt wise to judge a player simply on what theyre most well known for.

  • @THBRASIL gracias amigo, mira Tarega Francisco y Issac Albeniz tambien.

  • to those who say he doesn't feel the music, i can certainly say you are mistaken. i had the honor (i say honor because he's my favourite classical guitarist) to see him live a week ago and he opened with this piece. from the moment he played the first note i was drawn in by his warm and beautiful playing. words can't even begin to describe the feelings i felt throughout the entire performance. this man is a master and if anyone ever gets a chance to catch him live, i strongly recommend it.

  • VIAVA LA MUSICA ESPANOLA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Komenfla adoro a musica espanhola, mas nesse caso trata-se de um compositor brasileiro, Heitor Villa Lobos

  • @Komenfla ESPANOLA? lol, this is villa-lobos! BRAZILIAN MUSIC

  • The bad audio makes it sound weird

  • how is this song called?

  • @uffale Preludio N°1 "Dedicado al Pueblo de Brasil" de Heitor Villa-Lobos

  • Well, the playing is great (though it's nice to know that even the great JW makes mistakes) and this is the nicest sounding Smallman I've ever heard, though you really can't hear it properly through the video wur, so the nasal quality (that I hate so much) doesn't show. .

  • I think it's funny to hear the random vibrato due to the old video quality xD

  • 1:30 is proof that he is a human being

  • falando sério /watch?v=o2cNdXkwnDE&feature=related Raphael rabello

  • whata heell?

you can see in his face that he's feeling the music.

    wonderfull exhibition.

  • what a sound

  • which musical grade should try this

  • Great feel, and wonderful execution. Simply masterful.

  • recording has squelches and other sound problems. Can't listen to it, sorry.

  • no love, like a machine. in this case, bad exhibition.

too much fast, too much insensitive.

great guitarist, but not in this case...

  • Comment removed

  • @cicodelanga are you deaf?

  • incredible maestro thank you divine beauty , composer and performer both!

  • If that man can play Villa-Lobos he is one in the much that can't.

if one of you guys can, say something, but never putting John down.

John plays very weel, he is one of the greats in our generation.

    You, morons, shut up!

  • @henriquepazetbem All good guitarist can do that , It should only work a lot

  • How can you not like John Williams?!

  • 48 ppl are idiots!! >:(

  • he is brilliant but playing this piece I preferred listening to Segovia playing it.The King and the Prince of classical guitarists.

  • Wow, this is just great. I hear nothing but passion and delicacy here. Thanks for posting

  • need a guitar that has this sound...the pure shit

  • omg dno what to say :p

  • now, THAT'S good brazilian music.... viva Heitor Villa-Lobos!

  • To Moucon Wikipedia says John T is the Composer Conductor, John C is the Guitar player . Thanks for clearing that up for me .

  • @ChaoticRealm7771 This John Williams also composes. Just putting that out there haha.

  • Classical guitar is about "subtlety " Voicing. Definition. To say one of the greatest living (or for that matter- ever) players "doesn't feel the music" is just absurdly moronic. John Williams will be remembered 100 years from now as one of the top players of our age. And.. some of the greatest guitar playing of all time have been the duets records by Misters Bream and Williams. Very different styles - perfect compliment for each other.

  • He doesn't make enough stupid faces and looks at the guitar to closely Hows that do i make a good moron Lol i really like John's Boree in E he repeats certain themes this is the samr guy who wrote the STAR WARs theme BTW Lol

  • @McMinnManiac You don't really believe this is the same John Williams who conducted Boston Pops... Wrote Star Wars.. etc do you ? They are two completely different humans - pure coincidence they have the same name.

  • @moucon I was under the impression John Williams the Classical Guitarist ,was also a composer who did movie sound tracks .

  • With Williams, If you listen to this on a good HI-fi or quality earphones you will appreciate it. Watching him play is detracting from the music.

Might as well watch paint dry.. Better LISTEN to this, critics.

  • before the "image" it was the actual music that moved people, this is a great example of that

  • 1.28 ??

  • @Tpgough

just an interpretation by williams, right?:-)

  • he had played here a little bit too dynamic for my tastes, I love playing this more slow and melancholic.

  • great job buddie, it's so awesome to listen to u

  • ovaj nije normalan

  • What an awesome piece, and awesome performance!

  • audio sucks :(

  • John Williams is one of the Greatest Classical Guitarists along with Julian Bream, Andres Segovia, Alirio Diaz, Christopher Parkening and Kazuhito Yamashita. In my lowly opinion, these Great Virtuosos are the most copied/listened to since the last 40 years I have been fanatically following the Classical Guitar progress.

  • @LAPUbutsekikMAG Hey! you did forgot David Russel, which is certainly part of the mentioned team.

    regards!

  • Je vais devoir le jouer. Ca m'en met déjà dans l'ambiance.

  • @rhl959 I disagree, I hear feeling, passion, and expression in John's playing, he is just more subtle about it than others. I've heard many people make this comment about JW but imo it is really just a matter of degree, not a total lack of feeling. You don't have to make funny faces or light your guitar on fire to play good music.

  • @jazzadellic i like your sarcasm! =) made me laughed a little

  • I wish I'd seen this video in 2006 when I was learning this piece. I performed it for my A-level music exam.

    I got a "D".

  • This prelude is not that difficult to play, I used to use it as one of my show pieces!

Better than that, it's fun to perform it, and everyone loves it!

Thank you for taking me back to the good ol days, I have not played in years, and its great to hear and see a master I listened to in the late 1960 perform again...THANK YOU!

  • guuys.. just cuz he doesnt jump and move like a hyperactive moron with his guitar while playing he doenst feel the music?? xD

haha.. then you dont understand about sound and interpretation.. john has his own style which is very academic and straight.. if youre plaing guitar as well too you will see that john creates a much better sound and musicality than all the others show making guitarists.. so please shut up..

  • @jabba987654321 Not being a fantastic guitarist and technical genius isn't good enough? There's plenty of musical passion there really. What do they want Headbanging too?

  • @lflarry1 what? O.o

dont understand you.. did you understand me bro?

John doesnt need to make show at all. He shows his passion by playing not by moving while playing..

there are much guitarists that havent that good technique but make show like hell. Its nice to see how they move then.. but i dont understand the people saying john is a bader guitarist just cuz hes quiet :)

  • @jabba987654321 No No..We had a mis-communication....I'm agreeing with you!

You notice I said What do they want? They! Not you! Sorry for not making myself clear.

I think JW is one of the best. I really can't understand comments made that he has no emotion. That was the point. I agree with you and think you're right. That's it!

  • @lflarry1 ah ok :D

    i was confused sorry ^.^

nice to see that youtube has still some decent members haha :D

  • @jabba987654321 You are 100% correct in saying his style is very "academic and straight" and he creates a beautiful tone. But that's where it ends, anyone could teach themselves (assuming they had the will to do so properly) to create a beautiful tone, but not everyone can learn to be musical or "feel the music" if you will. It is quite obvious that John Williams is one of those people, study his technique because it's perfect, dont study his musicality because it is sub-par.

  • @dedog2003 I don't need you to decide who's a good musician and who isn't, and neither does anyone else. If you don't like it, perhaps you could direct me to an interpretation that you prefer, and we might even discuss the relative merits of each. However, I'll thank you not to try and tell me about the strength of his "musicality".

  • @arsenalca I do not remember telling anyone who is or isn't good, I simply stated my opinion on his playing. I've searched youtube to find a decent version of this and was unsuccessful, however the closest to a decent interpretation is the video of Julian Bream playing preludes 3&4. If you take his musicality, and maybe have him keep a little tighter time, you have a very musical interpretation of this piece. No technique talk about Breams either pls, we all know his technique is odd.

  • @dedog2003 um sir...this is the man who created the music for star wars, e.t., harry potter,, indiana jones, etc. i dont think you know what youre talking about.

  • @iwuvpanda13 Sorry dude, way off base. This John Williams is NOT the Star Wars guy. Google John Williams composer. Then, perhaps when you find a subject about which you actually know something, you may cast aspersions.

  • @Karmkane Whoah sir...retract your claws. I've talked to Mr. Williams about his writing and seen him conduct Star Wars several times, but thanks for the effort.

  • @iwuvpanda13 Clearly you should have actually opened your eyes when you saw John Williams conduct Star Wars several times. I'll retract my talons if you'll search for "John Williams composer" on google, and check out t photosof the composer. If you still believe him to be the same John Williams as on this video, I'll just pray for better vision for you.

  • @Karmkane Oh, I know this isn't the same John Williams. Is this what got you so worked up over? Chill out. I thought you said that John WIlliams didn't compose Star Wars. Which, you technically did.

  • @iwuvpanda13 Many men are named John Williams. The composer is not the same man as this guitarist: See John Williams (disambiguation). There is a long list....

  • @jabba987654321 I''m learning this particular piece now, my concert is in 7 months so I should be able to cope. Brilliant performance!

  • @jabba987654321

Yah,i just can't find any soul or expression in rock music or pop..except anger(extreme loud screaming).

  • @jabba987654321 lol I just read your original comment i responded to months ago about his academic approach, then read your response to my reply... lol STAR WARS, oh wait...

  • @dedog2003 what are you talkin about?

  • @jabba987654321 it totaly agree. musical emotion isnt about how you physicaly present yourself, it can be, but in most cases, especialy with guitar, the tone you produce and the individual musicality you give each note is what really comes through in what the people hear.

  • @jabba987654321 I also play guitar, and I like to think that I have my own way of playing like every single guitarist has his own and unique way of preforming. I completely agree with you. I mean if everybody would play the same way, it would be just stupid... Everybody express and enjoy in music in his own way. And yeah, sometimes people play too fast, you are right when you said hyperactive moron, lol!

  • @jabba987654321 Exactly... Some accuse him of emotionlessness... I say, he can most of the time 'get' the exact emotion needed for a piece to sound just perfect... His performances border flawless.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrGayItUp Yeah, I agree

  • @jabba987654321 yes.. I LIKE IT, VERY ACADEMIC AND STRAIGHT...

  • He doesn't feel the music, that's a silly comment.

There's plenty of emotion, rubato, emphasis of notes etc

  • @tarquin161234 I do agree with you. Though he is quite straight to the point

  • @tarquin161234 I know right? What you want him to do? Jump up off his seat and do the hoola while he's at it??? People, this refers to the saying, "Think before you post."

  • @tarquin161234 I have no idea what you talk about, but I have a clue and agree with you. clean sound

  • @rhl959 Everyone says Williams does not feel his music, but maybe it is all the people who do not understand the music of Williams
