Watching that gray haze roll down your screen when you don't expect it is one of the most gut-renching feelings. Paranormal activity doesn't conpare to that gray block of horror that freezes you solid.
A kernel panic is basically an error message in the system such as a BSOD. They basically mean nothing but if they happen repetitively and do not appear to stop then you should bring it back to the Apple Store. :) Hope this helped!
NOOOOOOOO! PLS! Poor me, I got 10.6.5 and as codey said, it doesn't work on snow leopard! One good thing: I got 2 tiger macs around so it works there... :D
@theflonert it means your computer had crashed. you have to restart your computer. but it doesn't happen that often... unless u downloaded too many junks and games..
i tried installing it and got this pop up that said "you cannot us the kpsaver screen saver on this compuuter. contact developer of this screen saver for a newer version." sucks looks so cool useing a macbook pro 10.6.4 ........
okay right when you just hit the on button hold option command p r and wait for the blue screen to flash 3 times than let got try that i don't think that will work tho
I have this screensaver. One day I was downloading something really huge and I went to take a shower to pass the time the screensaver was on. When I saw it I got sooooooo scared.
They should put out a new update, that puts the sound that playing in the background in the screensaver should and repeat it in a jerky fashion, like in the real Kernel Panic.
its a fake screensaver to make it look like it crashed do you no anything and its nothing to do with apple a kernal panic as Unix operating systems kernal panic as well
All computers (and game consoles for that matter) "crash" once in a blue moon. if your computer does that alot though theres somthing wrong wit ur machine
i had a kernal panic and lost 160gb of data of my external drive :( all my itunes, imoves thousands of photos, i was gutted. macs do crash and people whjo say they dont obviously dont use there mac to there full potential, like dickcheney6 said, most electronic equipment will crash, even my phone crashes sometimes. but i still love my mac and phone
i hav windows on my mac, it was my fault anyway... i was reading loads of stuff off the drive and editing a movie and i cant remember what happend then lol. ah no worries i love my mac :D i had most of the 160 gb backed up so its not 100% bad
Dude, believe it or not, shit like that happens on Windows XP too. If you were copying stuff over to the external drive and you got a blue screen of death you could loose data too.
UNIX-style operating systems (such as Mac OS X, Mac OS X Server, AIX, and A/UX) may experience a type of error called a "kernel panic," which may provide information useful for software developers. A kernel panic is a type of error that occurs when the core (kernel) of an operating system receives an instruction in an unexpected format, or that it fails to handle properly.
yes i understand that but i was imovieing of an external drive... thats it and it kp'd after i tryed to add a large effect. i dont see what your point is?
That's worse than the PC BSOD? Are you serious? At least it doesn't give you 5 seconds to read 2 pages of random instructions.
Macs DON'T crash if you use them correctly. If you install something incorrectly, it's going to give you an error. Same with Windows (except it happens a lot more for me on Windows).
Windows is the same way fuzz mop.. If u install things correctly and are not and idiot and are very familiar with the use of a computer its not goin to give you an error. I agree. Yes it does happen more on windows.. But You have to remember that windows supports alot more hardware and software than Macs do, also more software is made for the windows PC than for mac. So naturally yes.. more errors..among other things.
Yes. Exactly, and I personally think that people need to be more careful. If they are not an advanced user they shouldn't be playing with fire. And I haven't even gotten any of these errors on my newer computers - it must not be as normal to get them nowadays (on my newer Win XP).
thats true XP is better now that it was when it came out. Microsoft is doing a lot more to fix errors, they have an auto-update feature available which logs all the errors and automatically sends them to Microsoft. and by the next update usually all the errors are fixed. Most people don't understand that ALL computers have errors and need to be properly taken care of. Its a normal part of any use of Any computer to keep updated.
"Microsoft is doing a lot more to fix errors, they have an auto-update feature available which logs all the errors and automatically sends them to Microsoft." of course they MUST do that after 6 yeas with the same OS LMAO
What is so funny? Mac has an Auto update feature as well.. and yes six years with the same operating system, Becuase Microsoft believes in Improving an operating system rather than MURDERING the OLD ONE and coming out with something new every 2-3 years. Microsoft spends time before they release a new operating system.. maybe too little time.
Microsoft didnt killed the OLD ONE, bc Vista sucks, its like a beta lol, even the cursor have shadow/texture bugs LOL, we innovate, thats why we dont need our old OS
Microsoft try to kill their old operating systems when they release new ones, and they try to do it fast, but in doing so from XP to Vista, not only was their project held up for years due to delays, but vista gained a reputation as crap, mainly BECAUSE of all the changes they made that they were hoping to kill XP with.
improving it, how, are you joking? Windows' service packs are just bug fixes, they don't add anything to the OS plus, buying Vista Ultimate costs more than $200 dollars while Leopard costs only $130 and is more advanced by far, Windows has always taken more time because it's always trying to catch up with Mac OS so please stfu, Microsoft noob!
UMMMM... More software? LOL, what about Parallels Desktop/Bootcamp? WE CAN USE LINUX,XP/VISTA IN THE SAME COMPUTER. Understand it?......No?...well... read it AGAIN.
I can make my PC Run OSX, Windows XP and Linux at the same time if i partition the hard drive. Whats your point? Now Since Macs are using INTEL chips, The only difference between a Mac PC and a Windows PC is the operating system.the hardware of the machines are the same now.
PC's use INTEL.. They've been using Intel chips longer than Macs. Poor Mac.. They had to change their crappy Motorola Processors to Intel Like Pc's because Motorola Processors suck and the worst part is.. Mac played it off like a victory when the reality is its just sad. Also there are more programs in the entire world that are compatible with windows and Linux than there is for macs..and thats just fact.
Again, MORE SOFTWARE? its the same lol, we can run the same OS lol, u got it? OH wait, can u run Leopard/Tiger without patching/partition/blablabla?... then,we have probably more software...hmmm
ok i cant really make out what your saying because you write like a tow-year old, but if what you're trying to say is mac doesnt have to partition the hard drive then you are a dumbass.
What do you think it does during the install on a new hd?? IT PARTITIONS THE HARDRIVE!!! Mac must do the same stuff that other os's must to run.
yea you don't need to patch add drivers because if you don't have a driver your fucked. And also about the uninstallers, they actually allow you to keep certain components for later uses, and dragging to trash only works if the app was cooperative and tells the os exactly what files it has. (continued...)
Windows can do many of the things a mac can and much more the difference is that windows doesn't automatically assume you're an idiot, and allows you to do things to your liking even if that means that a dumbass could severely screw up his system. Basically a computer is like a car or any other kind of machine, IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE IT PROPERLY, DON'T!
crappy Motorola processors, Power PC is what made Macs so unique you idiot, an 867Mhz Power PC chip is faster than a 2Ghz Pentium 4 and you still say they're crap, you are a stupid noob that doesn't know anything about computers, and what the fuck are you talking about compatibility, most programs available for Windows are also available for Macs, Continued below
Very true it CAN be a hardware error but most of the time it is a malfunction with drivers and compatibility related to Operating System configurations.
Me too ;D. I only get scared of the BSOD when it comes up late at night when you turn your pc off, and come back into the room and its there, in the dark, staring at you.
