  • im attending this school and i luv it

  • You'd think that with paying over $900/month you wouldn't expect any problems but naw. IMO non profit colleges like the art institute are bullshit. Nothing more, nothing less...

  • @Jumanji089 *Forprofit I mean.

  • Not only that but their housing is ridiculously laughable. You pay up to $900/month for poor internet connection, roach infested dorms that apparently the exterminator can't handle, few shortages of hot water, and for a bonus - no provided transportation to the school which means you basically have to pay in order to get to the school everyday you have class unless one of your roomates have a car. So basically you're preyed on by these guys for the money out your wallet. Nothing else...

  • the experience is different based on your major u can't just not like the AI becuz one person had problem in that field yeah its alot of money if u have doubts don't go no one said it was gonna be easy all colleges do the same ppl graduate from ivy league Colleges nd don't have jobs either like get a grip! I'm going for interior design nd I'm ready for whatever they gonna throw at me!!!!

  • i just got accepted to the one in ny having second thoughts now i hope i get into sva

  • I went to the art institute of atlanta and I got fucked in the ass by these guys.

  • The Art Institute Of Fort Lauderdale never gave me financial support, I paid advance, with my family support. I told my dad I want to become an Industrial Designer, I want to design product that will make people life easier, I want to design jewelry and watches people will fall in love with it, I want to build concept will revolutionize automotive industry... but with poor Art Institute education I know it will not be more than a dream...

  • 7th: They told me that they will look job for students after they graduated, true is they dont, many of my friends have been graduated and school carrier service didnt help none of them, when I went to see my carrier service last October they told me dont worry we will find you 25K salary job..... excuse me!!!! I paid well over $140.000 for my bachelor and they still wants more money from me, why did I paid $140K for degree doesnt worth anything?......

  • here is funny part as Industrial Designer we have to take anatomy drawing, this is not that kind anatomy drawing class you think, we have to sit in class or stand up act like Leonardo Da Vinci and draw 75 years old females sagging pussy some times we have to draw 60 years old males balls the funny part is class is 4 hours and we have to draw all class long.. no no you havent here funny part we have to take that class 2 time first one is anatomy drawing and second one is advance anatomy drawing..

  • 6th: I have taking approximately 55-60 classes and most classes is absolutely pointless, I am Industrial Designer and I have nothing to do with: art appreciation, biology, oceanography, civilization history, ancient art, art history, and list goes on and on , let me tell you why Industrial designer dont need this kind classes, because we dont give a fuck none of above.........

  • 5th I have very stupid teacher he didnt know how to use Solidworks program for 3D modeling class and he has to teach us how to use Solidworks, actually he was clever teacher because before he comes to class he goes to google.com and he search for Solidworks tutorial and he ctrl+c and ctrl+v into word document and print out at school and give it to us so we can learn something and yess we did learn because we look link on bottom page and went to same website he did and copy ready file from there

  • Yeah my wife Mara, not Marina, did end up on FAFSA and grants but that's not the point. The point was they took advantage of her rushing like mad to get into a college. She immediately switched her plans from a year off to "i gotta get into school RIGHT NOW!" women. Also the quality of the education is crap. They only teach Flash which is one out many softwares. Also I think she sent a rough draft video and english is not her first language but hey who's perfect on camera?

  • What I really don't understand is whether the debt depends on how much you earn in the future. If you get a debt of $160,000 but afterwards you only earn $15,000 a yr, do you still have to pay off the whole $160,000 or does it get tailored down?

  • @JaguarXKJaguarXF you pay it all no matter what

  • I honestly do not understand why Americans allow the government to get away with this. In England, when they raised the price of University to $9,000/yr, they demonstrated and made a huge deal about it. In so many countries, University is extremely cheap.

Colleges in general and especially for-profit colleges are so obviously completely overpriced! $40,000 a year?!?!

  • @JaguarXKJaguarXF I understand your point and support it (I went to a Educations Cuts Protest in London). But on another note the fee went from £3500 ro £9000 (which is more like $15000 not $9000).

  • UM, I wonder, is she a citizen or a US National, she said she was Columbian, UM if she was she could of gotten aide financial aide from the government, if she was not, then she could not then. UGH poor her. I was a national by then, dual citizenship.

  • @kazakhstanmkj

    Calm down, bro, holy fuck

  • To be honest for me, going back to when I was 19, I do not know how I did most things, figured many things in many life. So I think I was lucky. Got to go got to run, in a rush, time does not wait, need to make so many decisions, do many things.

  • was there a social worker a nurse a friend some one whom she could of spoken with talked to or confided it and asked for help. I hope she gets justice and things get better in her life.

  • HMM for me at 19, IDK what I would of done in her situation, pregnant and need an outlet an dneed an education and need to work right? When I was 19, I was already out of the house, I had to figure out myself like independent living skills life skills learn how to drive in a new country a new language then figure out time management a new system. I sympathize with her. But I was not pregnant. I was barely learning how to take care of myself, so IDK how would I have been able to care for a baby

  • Then plus could of gotten money from the government for her education federal and state grants. Then there are programmes for her TYPE of situation and of her TYPE of student, there are grants and programmes geareds for her. There are many federal programmes and she should of investigated into her state programmes in Pennsylvania. I am not familiar with that state, she has internet if not, she could of went to the public library. UGH, she could of even went on food stamps too.

  • I wish I could of helped her or told her. I wish someone would of told her and helped her. Even in her situation if she needed to take out student loans she could of done it in a way that was in her best favour like taken out stafford federal subsidized or unsubsided student loans. Those were the best. Then community college tuition is pretty low and at a certain point states have a thing where if you make a certain amount of income below this, all of your tuition is waived. So she is paying 0$.

  • do research and if you do find yourself in a bad situation, i think for everyone community college or a local college in your area is the best solution and the best alternative solution for reals. I think with financial aide the lowest GPA to qualify for a pell grant or in California for a state grant is 2.0+ she said she had a 2.5? She qualified. She could of gotten the federal grant of 5500 then with the state grants at her state, Pennsylvania. I am not sure what the programme there is like

  • @kazakhstanmkj My wife never said she had a 2.5 she said that to get into any school you need at least a 2.5 and that the school still accepts people no questions. she got grant money and FAFSA but that's not the point. The point is the education is abysmal. pay attention.

  • Many others do take out student loans too from well known and brand name universities, those and they students the schools do not get bad reps, that is okay and fine, but they put out great education and material, so it is hard to say and to believe. I am curious what is others student loans stories. Everyone takes out student loans at some point in their education but it is how much how long why and what is their story afterwards with dealing with it.

  • My other mates who are attending private colleges get finanacial aid but also they have rich parents so they pay for everything such as high tuition of USC and MIT. Normally student loans is a norm but many do not know how much how often types and others have different situations so everyone takes out more takes out less do not take out any. Some get scholarships. I think for profit universities should get a bad rep for defaulting on student loans.

  • I recently finished transferring from a state community college in the states. It was complicated figuring everything out. I applied to the state schools the public universities and the private ones too. I right now am deciding between state school or the private admissions. I am doing research about the financially aide and my options about taking out student loans. HMM thank you for mentioning the student loans part. I did not know if other were taking out student loans as well.

  • majority of the time we are like HER this girl in this video in horrible situations. We need an outlet so we apply everywhere all around the world and where ever take us, we go. We in ways have no choice, many times we do not really understand many things especially language whether written spoken or listening anything. Then we also do not understand the laws the system, how things work essentially. Some of my friends came here from Hong Kong and are attending for profit art schools like her.

  • @kazakhstanmkj She speaks fluent english and did since highschool where i met her or else i wouldn't be with her cause i don't speak spanish. It was because she was pregnant and wanted to get as much school done as possible while Seamus, our son, is little. So she panicked and went to the first school that accepted her.

  • coming here, i never heard of many univerisities and colleges so i thought i was an idiot when i was like OH what is ITT and Devry University or University of Phoenix. I felt so humiliated for myself to be so ignorant. But truth of the matter is is that these are for profit and I was fine with not knowing what they were. Many international students out of state students like me, sometimes take any type of admissions to any other international institutions to get an ticket out of our country

  • shit her daughter is next to her?

  • @Snakekilla12 THAT'S A BOY!!! HIS NAME IS SEAMUS!!! FOR FUCK SAKE DOES MY SON LOOK LIKE A GIRL TO YOU?

  • @MadManSnake0 yes... and sounds like one...

  • to that Colombian lady.... come to Calarts!! The downside is that the school is really really pricey, but when you come in there you will have a fantastic time in the school. It is very relaxing, the vibe of the school is very mufti-cultural, and generally it is a very liberal school and students from other countries are well treated. Also a lot of animators there get to work for disney when they graduate so that's nice perk :)

  • I wish she had told us more specific facts about how the curriculum was outdated. And what do they learn for the 2 years before they start doing animation? Also, how did she know that the admissions sales people were fired from their positions? They don't go around advertising when people are fired. I just wonder because a lot of people complain, but if you have actual, specific reasons to complain, I'm more likely to believe your side of the story.

  • @AblativeOfMeans General Education classes, basics of drawing shit like that. Flash is one software. There is ToomBoom, TVPaint, Aftereffects, Flipbook and many more besides. Oh and they taught her cell animation without teaching her the traditional animation its used for. And she works in the admissions department so it's like at work and one day your boss isn't there you ask around and find out what happened.

  • thumbs up if you got an ad for the ai

  • isit bad that there is an art institute ad right next to this video...good advertising

  • I knew someone close to me that went to that school. Being from that area those students come out with more DEBT then a job in their field. I couldn't believe how much in debt my friend is and she could have took the SAME classes at my community college that i went to. I don't have any debt and she does. It's really sad actually=/ and she graduated before me.

  • 40 000$ is ivy league tuition. Jesus Christ.

(Not that 40 000$/year is sensible anyway...)

  • I hear a lot fucked up shit like this about Art Institute actually.

  • so what did the young turks study at uni?

  • She's incredibly stupid. Pregnant at 19, fell for for-profit university, etc...

    No sympathy from me.

  • @AsAboveSoBelow01

Grant your assumption that she's stupid. Why the fuck would that prevent you from having sympathy?

  • @AsAboveSoBelow01 Yes because everyone knows about for profit schools and how shit they are. the fact that i kept my cool and went to a community college and she went to AI does not make her stupid. So don't say another thing about my wife who you don't fucking know.

  • "They promised me they could get me a job!"

No school can promise that and only a fool would believe it.

  • I want to know what TYTU thinks of private colleges but not for profit ones. I know they are definite promoters of state schools but I want to hear their general opinions on other in state private universities.

  • @BrooklynJEW7 WHY WOULD ANYONE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES EDUCATION (HARVARD, YALE, STANFORD, RICE, ST JOHNS, HARVEY MUDD, VANDERBILT)?

Private colleges trump public and for-profit colleges education.

  • @Stamps600 Im talking about the initial higher cost of private schools and what they think about the possible long-term benefits of attending vs. some state schools. I have been admitted to both types so I just want to hear another perspective on the matter.

  • I went to AIPH for a quarter-- too expensive to stay the entire time.

  • What I really want to know is, will all the people that have been victimized by for profit colleges ever be granted amnesty for their predatory lending practices and false statements made by recruiters to get an unaccredited degree that is basically worth nothing? We can bail out Wall Street and automakers, but we can't help people who just wanted a better education to better contribute to society?

  • @neversawthatcoming ??? The banks are the ones giving the student loans and the banks are getting bailed out. Allowing bankruptcy on student loans would effect the banks' profit.

  • wait what???? you have a department of education???? do they pick their nose all day?

  • where else am I supposed to go for a decent art education? No one takes you seriously without a degree, and most other art schools are crazy expensive.

  • @jwdesign336 University of the Arts

  • @jwdesign336 Not to mention the materials that you need are crazy expensive. It's insane.

  • I have never heard a great story about the Art Institute of _____________. If you do not go to a college that is not public or a private college that has been around for at least 30 years then you should not be going to college. Call me old fashion, but for-profit, career schools, 1800 schools, and so forth you should not be going there and enroll at a community college.

  • Coming from an AI campus, the admissions department are the real bad guys. They prey specifically on low income families. Those students get a ton of financial aid/ government money to cover the obscene price of attending. Now the Department of Justice is on their back because of it.

  • Public Education should be for the public, ie free.

The point of public infrastructure should be to lower the cost of doing business, not to create a high cost toll booth economy

  • Art schools are all plagued with kids who go because it's easy and anyone can do it. It's hard to be someone who is actually interested in it and cope with such kids. Here if you say you're going to art school they just think you're there to party and drink. A plague:/

  • Thumbs up if you always skip the boring videos sent in and only watch Ajayar (ana and jayar)!

  • Education and healthcare should be free of charge. It would be easy, more efficient and cheaper than the current US barbaric system. I moved to Europe because there is nothing left in the US. It's a lost cause, it's a sinking ship.

  • @youngbuck189 Education isn't free here, though, but it's much more affordable, and if you're foreign you won't get financial aid.

  • @NeccoWecco Where I live, education is free for the first degree for citizens.

  • She should have went to Full Sail University. It started off as a for profit university but is now accredited and non-profit.

  • @collegeboykeith You're an idiot. Full Sail is not accredited, and its a for profit school. Don't ever post such bullshit facts about fuLL Sail again ok? I went there and I wasn't even able to transfer my credits to a community college from full sail. Why? Simple because they aren't accredited. Fucking dumb ass. Full Sail is a career trade school.

  • That is funny I literally just came from the art institute of Washington it wasn't as horrible as she said the art institute of Philadelphia was. Then again I can believe it the art institute of Philadelphia is the only one of those schools that runs the online version of the art institute of Philadelphia. There are plenty of people who came from the art institute and have gotten really good jobs.

  • Hey I just graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia.

  • My friend went to AI for video game related art degree (don't know exact name) he says after government help, grants, financial aid, ect and all in all he owes 80k. Took him a while but he did get a job. He says if someone comes to him saying they want to do what he does he would say learn at home because you can and a lot of these industries (culinary, art, computer science) are industries that will hire you if you know your stuff regardless of degree.

  • Damn just realised that Jayar is a big man with some big fuckin shoulders

  • $40k a semester, w/o rich parents r a schloarship! y would some1 do that to themselves

  • WHERE'S THE FUCKIN LINK. ill put it on facebook.... cmon guys.

  • i once met a john hopkins university undergraduate who was attending a for profit art institute in the local area. UM IDK these things.

  • is a for profit college an american thing? it is kind of weird because they are actually called for profit and there are other companies called for non for profit. so there seems like there has been an establishment.

  • just do no go to a for profit university, there, problem solved. do not put yourself in a position in which that is already stupid from the start. why go to art school and then a for profit? why? these people need more concrete advice on college and better guidance. when i was around 16 17 i did not know what was a for profit. good thing i asked around because i would of been tricked and fooled then equal to a moron and loser. going to a community college is so much better than this shit.

  • She doesn't sound very bright...

  • @RebelHQ English is probably not her first language, give her a break.

  • Do you guys have the art institute ad on the side

  • What a horrible experience :/. As a Mexican dude, I find Colombian- Spanish accents ugly lolz

  • I remember than in high school, a teacher of mine showed us a website that showed credited schools and their ranks. Is there any way you can touch websites like that?

  • personnally i dont think gpa matters if someone wants to go to college they go and if its soemthing they really wana do they show work some number aint gonna say tht

  • @nawstra578 A high gpa in college means hard and dedication. College is a test on how hard you work not how intelligent you are. I guess you didnt go to university or college.

  • @DynamicMotionsHD im refering to highschool gpa of course college gps does matter since it does wht u stated and u dont have to have gone to a university or college or university to know hardwork doesnt always show inteligence

  • 5:53 "One of those rules are..." Oops!

  • Non accredited fuck that I'm not touching that school.

  • For one of my grad classes, I had to contact the Art Institute of Seattle for a directory project, and I had no idea they were for-profit. I tried to contact faculty in the program I was looking for, and they didn't show emails of any faculty/staff. I tried asking for emails through online help and was told I couldn't have them unless I was a student. Needless to say, they came off very sketchy, more so know that I know they for-profit.

  • my school helped us write resama and did a career day were we would give them the resama and if we wanted to change it before we graduated the school helped us do that as well

  • @kazooga1234 resume*

  • @SirGomez81 the odd thing is thats how i originally had it but it didnt seem right to me thx

  • If a sucker wasn't born every minute, the private colleges would actually have to compete.

  • i liked my school because they did acomidate for people who had children and where pregnect and my school had everything up to date and allowed my friend to had her 9 year old go into the class with her twice because she couldnt get a baby sitter and the teacher let him barrow the computer and the only reason the teacher was originally against her bringing in her child was because she thought it was a few month old baby or something and didnt want it to inturpt the class

  • Don't go to art school if you're broke as fuck. There, problem solved, next please.

  • can you guys do a video on how to pay for college for both undergrad and grad school?

  • @xteric1 The school I went to had a tuition account, they tell how much the total tuition cost for a semester. The grants, scholarship, and/or loans will be sent to the tuition account to pay for the total tuition. Whatever money is left is sent to you by mail or direct deposit to your bank account.

  • @xteric1 Sell cocaine. :P

  • @xteric1 do you mean pay for the loans or how to get a loan.

  • @xteric1 Great idea

  • @xteric1 check their homepage, I'm sure there's articles there on strippers or hookers working their way through college. that's about the only way I've found, too bad I never took advantage of it, then I wouldn't have 30 grand in student loan debt now.

  • second

  • @xteric1 even cooler

  • first.

  • @alfredoooddd cool story bro
