Agreed. Great movie. My grandad's been telling me stories of kidnappings and killings of Taiwanese intellectuals when he was a kid. Couldn't quite picture it until I watched this movie. This is an influential film that uncovers the hidden history of Taiwan (Formosa). A must watch movie. Support the awareness!

Formosa Foundation is promoting the movie which demonstrated they invested a lot of money in this film. Formosa Foundation is Chen Shui-Bian's pet organization. Chen scamed money from poor Taiwanese farmers and accepted bribe from rich business men.

It's very possible that James van der beek is spending Chen's dirty money now. Since James spend money watching a Cardinal's game. Local people over there in Saint Louis is receiving dirty pay check.

Great movie. I'm Canadian (living in Japan), and I had no idea about the depth of the issues between Taiwan/China. Amazing movie (especially considering I've been to Taipei a few times, and knew nothing of all this). Great to see Hollywood actors playing in films that actually have some relevance, instead of movies full of empty calories about vampires, Johns in uniforms, and other shit that has no value. Taiwan kicks ass! China can't even take care of their own people, why go after Taiwan?

I saw this film at the Asian Film Festival In DC. I was impressed with the suspense and tension captured in this film. Actors' performances may not be Oscar-worthy of praise, but they succeed in making their roles credible and do make the viewers attentive to the screen. A very interesting film! Also, this film has surprisingly driven me to research, online, to see whether anything in this fiction film does relate to facts. And I was certainly amazed with my findings!

I am really disappointed with how unprofessional James is. "I had no idea what happened in Taiwan in the 1880's". Please James, you are already doing a bad job promoting the movie with your poor knowledge of the movie background. Talking with 100 years off on the time setting is ridiculous. Please, as a professional actor, do some home work before speak to the media.

you can't blame him...o.o He's just a typical American actor, not Taiwanese... At least he's willing to take the role and have some knowledge about the history. It's the acting and the movie that should be professional so that hopefully, the audience can open their eyes. The trailer looks good enough..but I care about the movie more.

Dear James Van Der Beek,

I hope you can get a clearer picture of the importance of what you're doing.

This story has indeed never been told, and the atrocities commited by the dictatorship in Taiwan during the White Terror have never really been exposed and judged. We are talking about the wrong done to thousands of people, jailed, or sometime murdered.

This movie is, as many of us foreigners living in TW hope, a springboard to justice.

Please put in your eyes the passion this topic deserve!
