  • Nice ore train and now Im getting ideas to do a CN ore train but havent decided yet.

  • The B unit isn't backwards, it's a frieght engine so there isn't a boiler and someone called them F's and they are FAs.

  • one freakin' long train

  • amazing!

  • at 1:30 i have some of the same curved switches for sale if you need them

  • 0.0 nice

  • totally want a long ore train like this some day but right now where i live i don't have room and with me moving into an apartment here soon......won't have any room to model so oh well maybe in a few yrs!!!

  • Yes, it is a fantastic train, kind regards from NL

  • The bridge at 1:03 is O gauge or whatever the american equivalent to O is (one scale larger than HO). Am i right?

  • @andrewad19 - No, I think the bridge is wide like that to allow for the curved track laid on it. And just FYI - the next commercial scale up from HO is S, then O.

  • Does anybody know how boring American railways are? I'm British, and British railways are 10 times more interesting. Thumbs up if you agree (No offence, Americans. You're still awesome, guys).

  • @andrewad19 what do brit trains do? tell jokes?

  • @andrewad19 - Sorry, but to each his own. Personally, I like Australian layouts, but that's just me.

  • Great stuff!

  • The B unit needs to be turned around so that the boiler is at the trailing end of the unit.

  • @captainmorgan757 because....

  • @johnmcboston Because rivit counter need those kind of things to make them happy (OCD and all that)

  • @johnmcboston DONT YOU GET IT MAN YOUR B UNIT IS BACK WORDS! Why do you people always get that wrong! Just like Bob people always spell it Bob, but its Bob not Bob. Dont worry we will let it pass this one time, but next time put your B Unit right...

  • @johnmcboston My thoughts exactly.......

  • where did you get the bridge/parts for the bridge seen at 4:00 into this video?

  • @taylatimer Not sure - that's one of our older structures. I'll ask the guys

  • Wow - lot of work here, and the layout itself looks great! Appreciate the sharing...

  • pretty sure the real railroad would cut the helper engine infront of the caboose, to assure that the caboose didn't get smooshed!

  • @Mesabi193 If this was GN around Kelley Lake, they wouldn't have used a helper. A four unit set of F-7's worked just fine.

  • Counted 52 ore cars. Just completed buying 36 rtr ore cars, SP from athearn. Assembled, finally, 42 kit ore cars from athearn blue boxers bought during the 80's. Painted the underbodies and trucks, replaced the plastic wheels with metal. Need to match ore load colors of the RTR/Kits. Combined, totals 78 twenty-six foot ore cars. Four SP Black Widow GP-9's as helpers, and an SD-9 with F unit w/two B units in Black Widow paint at the lead. Thanks for the inspiration.

  • @JIMBOSKI58 Way cool. Glad we could inspire! ;)

  • Nice Layout what scale is this N'Gauge or HO/00

  • @BRU11ROAD HO Scale

  • this is nuts, i especially like the bridge between the hills, excellent track well done!

  • Does your layout have a steel mill? The scene by the engine house looks like the beginning of a Basic Oxygen Furnace. Or is the ore train just run for looks as being something different?

  • @strobx1 There is a blast furnace as part of a steel mill scene. Ore/coal/limestone are delivered from the port on the other end of the layout...

  • is that expensive?

  • @dadikkedude Is what expensive? We don't look at the layout in terms of cost, but all the work and effort put in over the last 30 years.

  • Very realistic!

  • cool i thorght it was full sise at first...lol

  • Nope, not Australian... This looks to be modeled after the Great Northern ore trains in northern Minnesota. Circa 1965 or so.

Great layout - great footage, btw!

  • Right on with the location, but with the locos that are on this train, it would be about the mid 50's with Alco FA-1's and RS-1 and a HH GP7/9. just a thought. :) I'd have to look at my GN tapes again to confirm, it's been a while since I watched them. The GN also ran some very heavy steam into the late 40's early 50's on the MN Ore Lines.

  • Fantastic!

  • Fantastic!

  • very nice, need to HD video though...

  • I have some HD video of this layout on my channel if you're interested.

  • Is this a Aus. layout???

  • Austria?? No, we're in the states

  • Sorry for the confusion. What I meant was if the Ore train was modeled after Australian Ore trains because thats what the cars look like and the high hood loco looks like the P&W co.

  • @johnmcboston He would've meant australia

  • that la-out must be huge!?

  • Super langer Zug, das gibt es nur in den USA! Es macht sehr viel Freude diese Anlage zu bestaunen!!

  • awesome work on the layout, I'm serious, when the video started, I

didn't know if it was model, or real! lol

  • WOW !!!!!!

  • 1:16 that 1 car isint on the tracks right

  • where can i buy those in n scale

  • i counted 58 carts omfg 58!!!!!!!! O M F G

  • hehehe

  • i counted 52

  • its so long.....

  • Fantastic layout. Great model work!

  • Man that is very good work. You made it look real!!!!!

  • The first few seconds I thought this was a real train. Fantastic work dont to ensure realism.

  • same here lol

  • awesome perfect layout great stuff! hey whats the average radius used on your layout? thanks! awesome video!

  • Love it....

  • nice layout,i wish that was mine,um still trying to get started

  • at 20 seconds it looks like the ore trains up here in virginia,mn,but the lack of the real sounds give it away.

  • What I really like about your set are the curves. They are more gradual and therefore more realistic. Great job!

  • You guys have done an awesome job on an awesome layout, and you've also given me plenty of inspiration for my own model railroad project. I humbly thank you. :)

  • :) Thanks. it's nice we can share our hard work with you

  • Very Good running DCC?????

only bad part is that noisy RS Helper...

  • can run DCC or DC at present

  • Super!! Well done what a great layout!!!

  • verry good !!!

  • cant blame u

  • Yeah the sound for me gave it away...great job

  • wat scale

  • This is HO Scale

  • Wooooooow.. thats ART

  • 52 ore hoppers...I tried to do the same thing in O gauge, but I couldn't find my 52nd ore car till after I posted the video :)

  • Sensational!

  • I'll bet that even at this scale the rails'd be hot after the caboose has gone by!! 8-)

  • AMAZING!! HO/00?

  • 27yrs when our in our last days you be saying before you go lol man i wish i finish that mountain lol kidding

  • HOW Much did it cost you wiht all that and years it take i having tuff time saving money for stuff like this

  • We've been working on it as a club for 27 years...

  • looks like the real thing!

  • Great work!
