It's a pity Evo represents the Coca Growers Union. He may be 'working to reduce the production of cocaine' but he has and intends to substantially increase the growing of coca leaves. He, the MAS party and the Coca Growers Union say this has nothing to do with Cocaine but that is like saying eggs have nothing to do with omlettes. I can't think of any country today that can truly be called capitalist. There's certainly some very grey shades. The US in many ways holds more socialist tendencies than some countries it criticizes.

The dominant "ist" for the USA is corporatist.

And corporations will like capitalism only when it serves their interests. They'll just as easily switch to socialism or fascism if it is more beneficial to them.

A good parent can still have bad kids.

I agree with you except the parts about socialism and corporatism. I think it would more appropriately be called corporatocracy. A large government bureaucracy doesn't make a country socialist, thats one of the biggest misunderstandings, unfortunately.

Business and corporations promote whatever is in their self interest.

Capitalism always promotes business but business does not always promote capitalism.

I agree with IPlayWithFire135. Socialism don't oppose to capitalism. Look at China. Socialism (focus on society as main subject) oppose liberalism (focus on personality as main subject). Capitalism (or market economy with big private sector) oppose to plan (planned economy with mainly state sector). Another popular misunderstanding is "3rd world", though it really means the club of countries , which had no wish to incorporate into capitalist nor socialist system.
