God does not dwell in temples made with hands Acts 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
But we know by the scriptures that Gods presence was indeed in the Temple, that Christ taught daily in the Temple, and that the Apostles continued to come to, and teach in the Temple after Christ had ascended. More correct would be that God does not confine himself to be in the Temple alone.
The history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints between 1846 and 1852 is a story of transition and severe hardship, but also triumph. Winter Quarters and Kanesville are critical components of the transition following the martyrdom of Joseph Smith, expulsion from Nauvoo and eventual settlement in the Salt Lake Valley. . .
Brighton - Snowmelt falls like heavy rain outside the open door of the Brighton LDS Girls Camp lodge office, where this year's directors -- college girls -- sit on a couch, nibbling chips and sandwiches and telling stories about Floss ..
"Although many of our dear Canadian friends have passed on, there are those who remain still -- as well as the children and grandchildren of those stalwart saints of years ago," President Monson said. . .
What the guy below doesn't realize is that there was (or still is - I forget) a temple in Tel Arad and also in Philae (When Jews fled to Egypt) as well as enough early Christian documentation to prove temple practices.
Here's the Jewish thought on Mormon "temples": The ONLY place on this earth where a Temple of God can be built is on Mount Moriah in the City of David. That's why Jews go to Synagogue (means "assymbly") and not to "temple". The Temple was destroyed in 70 AD. The thought of building another Temple ANYWHERE but on Mount Moriah is UNTHINKABLE to Jews, and anybody who knows anything about Jews would know that. Calling a build a "Temple of God" doesn't make it so.
@omiolo Temple Sinai hold a similiar place among true Jews to that of the LDS among true Christians. They are a fringe group and do not represent the beliefs and practices of Judaism. I must NOT be Jewish? That's funny, since I was Jewish when I woke up this morning. Actually, I am Kohanim (a direct descendant of Aaron). Sounds pretty "Jewish" doesn't it?
@omiolo There you go. You just blew yourself out of the water. Who gets to decide? That would be the Torah. It contains the first and last word of what constitutes a Jew; just like the New Testament contains the first and last word of what constitutes a Christian. After 2000 years of Christian history and 3000 years of Jewish history, the terms "Christian" and "Jew" are not subject to the revisions of a cult. And yes, the LDS ARE A CULT.
@omiolo it's not self-serving to take simple meaning from simple words. It is blasphemy and sacreligious to twist the meaning of scripture as mormons have. our conversation is over.
@gurumagoo Tell me this, would a cult focus so much on keeping families together? Would a cult focus so much on service and charity? The LDS church has some of the best people on the earth, and yet we are persecuted still so long after we founded our religion. You tell me how this church could possibly be a cult.
And can you tell me how mormons twist the meaning of scripture? We still believe the bible to be the true word of god and we also believe the book of mormon to be the true word of god
@Coolcow6 To answer you're first question: apparently so! LOL. I fail to understand how works of charity distinguish Mormonism from a cult. And there you go....the eternal mormon cry of persecution. Persecution is what you call it when people point out that your beliefs are nonsense and have no foundation in fact. The Holy Land and the City of David are a REAL place. You can climb the hills and walk down the ancient streets. Your so called "holy book" is a far fetched work of bad fiction.
@Coolcow6 And no, American Indians are not, and never have been descendants of Israelites. It's a PROVEN fact. In other words, your "true word of god" is PROVEN to be false. All semites share common genetic markers. My own DNA, which HAS been genetically tested by the way, PROVES who I am. I am a descendant of Aharon, brother of Moshe. No Native person anywhere in the America's shares my genetic heritage. The reason for this is that the events of your Book of Mormon NEVER happened. It's fiction.
@jancy82520 I have to reply because I suffer from OCD, thanks to past traumas...(: Thank you for replying and not using any bad words. Oh, and I do wear glasses, actually. Lol. What a cool coincidence ;D
The temple is within those who are true believers for the Holy Spirit now resides within the Holy of Holies of a believer and there is no true believer within Mormon "church". Why else would the veil be torn after Christ died for us? Joseph Smith is the epitome of a false prophet along with Muhammed. They even say during the video that the idea of the temple had stopped. I wonder why. Because it was no longer ordained by God. All of these scholars do not know the true Jesus Christ sadly.
@lefthanofares You are very wrong. We members of Jesus Christ's church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. are in fact THE true believers of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. Jesus Christ has ordained the temples. I truly feel sorry for you for rejecting the gospel of Jesus Christ and for speaking out against what Jesus Christ has done. You are in fact the one who does not know the true Jesus Christ.
@majinish I worship the Jesus of the Bible and perhaps who Joseph Smith knew as well since the book of mormon is rather pseudo christian but Brigham Young destroyed any hope of it just being a new denomination. Tell me where the evidence is that the Bible has been tainted and evidence archaeologically that the fantastical tales in the book of mormon actually occurred. You have an archaeology team devoted to such that has never found anything. I'm merely telling you the truth which hurts.
Also how many gods do you worship? You have three where I have the One Who Is The Lord my God who has rescued me from all my sins and regenerated my heart mind and soul to praise Him and Him alone, for all the ages for I have died and am carrying my cross, to live a life of devotion to Him, and spread His true good news for all nations to hear for the time fast approaches where every tongue shall sing and every knee shall bow and His wrath shall destroy the wickedness and evil.
@majinish Also tell me why on your mormon website it tries to pass itself off as christian, I read it and I can actually agree with it on you statement of doctrine but then I talk to someone and then they tell me what you actually believe. That is dishonest and if you are guess what it is lying, if lying is a sin why are you not open to what is believed and why do you try to pass off as christian and then do a switch you are deceived and trying to deceive the Bible is clear on what is going on.
@lefthanofares Because we're Christians. I do know what we believe and I know we teach the truth. Yes, the Bible is very clear with what goes on. The Bible is in fact a source that proves the Book of Mormon is true.
@majinish I never said that I want people to follow the ways of the world but that I want them to follow the truth in Jesus Christ. On the book of Mormon it says "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" another testament indeed which refutes itself within it's pages and Mormon doctrine. It is a spirit of religion which tells you it is true because you see worldly works which you think are Godly and you use a bait and switch technique to bring people into your "church".
@majinish As mormon's preach their "gospel" they make it seem that they are orthodox christian and then when you go into the mormon church that's when you find that you actually believe you will become god's. Refute this if it is untrue but it is in your doctrine or was and your doctrine is constantly changing to be less controversial and dull the line of true biblical Christianity and something based off a man who led people to seclusion and introduced all sorts of heresy.
@lefthanofares Correction, we preach Jesus Christ's gospel. The name of Jesus Christ's church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We are the true Biblical Christians.
@majinish You have not denied what I've said because you know it to be the truth in how you view being a christian and you truly believe you will ascend to godhood if you follow laws to the fullest. This is never what Jesus Christ taught until there was extra "revelation". Do you not know what the first sin not only of the angels but of man is, it is the thought that one can be as God. This is the reason for the fall and evil in the world today and wickedness.
@lefthanofares Actually the New Testament says we'll be joint-heirs with Christ. In order to say "be as God is a sin" you would have to call Jesus a liar. Look up John 10:34-35. That is Jesus saying "ye are Gods". And if you're saying eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil is why Adam and Eve were sent out of the garden you're mistaken. You need to read Genesis 2 & 3 about that.
@majinish Man is capable of no good which is everlasting without God regenerating their very soul in acceptance of Jesus Christ and His atonement on the Cross(not in the garden of Gethsemane)and His resurrection. And throughout the Bible it says that God will never create one like Himself because it is impossible to create something that is eternal for eternal things were never created. But then again you have a doctrine which is completely contradictory to the Bible but you say it supports it
@lefthanofares "(not in the garden of Gethsemane)" One of the many ignorant assumptions about us. We do not believe the atonement took place in Gethsemane. Read Matthew. Gethsemane is where he began to suffer pain and was sweating a lot. We teach the atonement was on the cross.
@majinish You are completely blinded to the truth and are actually following worldly ways because you see the mormon church promoting all these values which are good and I'd rather a child be raised in a mormon home than that of an agnostic or atheist but above all I'd rather the child be raised to follow the true Jesus Christ with a true sense of righteousness. I know that they pile on rules and commands as you rise through the ranks in hope of becoming a god and it is impossible to keep them.
@lefthanofares Again, the name of Jesus Christ's church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. What I have told you is the truth. If I followed the world I would be like you. Unlike you, I follow the real Jesus Christ. I do hope the Lord will show you your error of speaking against Him. The church is true because it was established by Jesus Christ.
@majinish Also where are the tablets which the mormon book comes from? Why if you believe it so much won't let other people see them. The bible has thousands of manuscripts which scholars use and have been proven to be accurate. And while there may be some words missing in one but present in the other there is nothing which contradicts whereas the Book of Mormon contradicts itself and Mormon doctrine. Leave the lie while you still can and listen to a Christian when he comes to you.
@lefthanofares You mean the Golden Plates that the Book of Mormon was translated from by the power of God. Moroni took them back. This would require to believe by faith rather than sight. "Why if you believe it so much won't let other people see them." 26 people saw the Golden Plates including Joseph Smith. This question is like an atheist asking how we believe in God without seeing Him. Christ said more blessed are those who believe yet haven't seen.
@lefthanofares I'm not part of a lie. I am a member of Jesus Christ's church. I am a true Christian. You need to read the Bible. It proves the Book of Mormon is true.
@majinish No the Bible doesn't prove the book of mormon is true at all in fact if Joseph Smith had tested the spirit which came to him in the proper manner he would have know the falseness which was spoken to him. In Deuteronomy it lays out the testing of a false prophet and Joseph Smith did not pass thee test. You believe that works justifies you and your entry to heaven which the mormon view completely goes against the Bible's teaching on. And your Baal which you have set up is finite.
@majinish Jesus Christ promised that there would never be a complete apostasy and that His truth would carry on. The mormon "church" builds up treasure upon earth but we build our treasure and reward in heaven which is not of this world and by the way the Bible says there is only One God who is eternal, that sounds nothing like the mormon doctrine which I read so again you serve Baal while I serve the Most High God who is not created but rather creates. And He was never a man to begin with.
@majinishBut rather He became a man to save us.You only see what you want to see because scales cover your eyes to truth but truly go with the intent to seek truth read Jesus' words carefully and examine your heart and with whose allegiance it lies. Also if you are right then I'll be in your tellestial kingdom but if you are wrong there is only one place which you shall go because you believe you are justified in Gods eyes but He will show you on the White Throne Judgment how man cannot measureup
@lefthanofares Have you not listened? What I have told you is the truth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is indeed Jesus Christ's church. That is the truth.
@majinish I am listening but know that you are deceived and you pass yourself off as something you are not. If you would only listen to reason in what I am saying you would realize that the Jesus Christ of the Bible is not the same as taught by the mormon "church", because mormons say He isn't eternal, which is grieving God, and there are several other things which set up an anti-christ. You add on things which contradict scripture and you follow the teachings of man rather than God.
@majinish You also add to what Jesus Christ came to do. We are completely and totally deprived of doing good in the eyes of God for our greatest works are dirty rags in His Holy and Perfect Eyes but you believe you can work and try to bridge that gap in your fallen nature by performing works to make it. You are saying that Jesus Christ's work wasn't enough for you to see the Father. Of course you also redefine every thing within the Bible so this will go in one ear and out the other.
@majinish I can also give you writings from your unholy scripture which Joseph Smith wrote which are direct plagiarizations from a KJV Bible which are in direct contrast to doctrines taught today by your mockery of the true Church of Jesus Christ, which is His Bride, and are supportive of the true Christian theology of God in that He is One and Eternal, not three and nor that he was once a man.Look at (2 Nephi 11:7,26:12,31:21; Mosiah 5:15,15:2-5; Alma 11:22-29, 11:38-44)The list keeps going.
@majinish So tell me why do what they teach now contradict your "holy" book of mormon why do they lie to you if Joseph Smiths "revelation" from an angel of light, which is how satan masquerades as and with satan's servants as servants of righteousness, actually has traditional Christian doctrine interspersed within it. It is because they know the lie and love it the same as you do, you like it because it's comfortable, but that is how religious piety is it is comfortable to the unregenerate.
@lefthanofares So what about the angel John saw that was the cause of the book of Revelation or the one that told Joseph to fear not that Mary was pregnant with Jesus? Were those angels also Satan? According to you there's no good angel. Calling Moroni a demon of Satan directly contradicts Christ's teachings. Any messenger that says Christ came in the flesh is of God. Moroni did just that therefore he was of God.
@lefthanofares You need to read the Bible again. You have little knowledge on what it teaches. The only one comfortable with a lie here is you. I have told nothing but the truth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church on the earth because it was established by Jesus Christ. This is more than a belief, this is an absolute fact.
@majinish No, John even gives us ways to test these spirits and it is to testify the Jesus who is the Son of God who is one with His Father came in the flesh. I have read the Bible and am listening to it and still reading it and I don't need any one but God to tell me how to read it. I never said those angels were Satan. You falsely presume just because the Moron angel testifies the Jesus came in the flesh then add but he isn't the only god. Thus it is testifying a different Jesus in name only.
@majinish You need to stop lying now and presumtiously putting false words into my comments and reading them in your Mormon eyes and see the truth now. You have additions to scripture which completely contradict them and were proclaimed heresy by the apostles and the church fathers after they died nearly 1900 years ago this is nothing new and variants have been taught for centuries. I only inform you this for fear of your very soul. And you do not address the reference to your false scriptures
"You have additions to scripture which completely contradict them"
What part of the Book of Mormon doesn't contradict the Bible don't you get? Jesus was also accused of teaching heresy so you're no different than his accusers.
"And you do not address the reference to your false scriptures"
Because I don't read false scriptures. I read true scriptures. You've denied Jesus and rejected his gospel.
@majinish You are the one living in a lie and I am here hoping and praying that you will open your eyes to this but know that you don't want to. And why do you believe this lie because you experienced the all powerful "burning bosom" don't you think that if satan sets up a lie he will work however possible in order to deceive. Also it is the Almighty God allowing him to work in this way to test the allegiance of your heart which is not toward the One True God at this moment. He is jealous.
@lefthanofares It's the Spirit of God that lets me know the church is true. I live the true gospel of Jesus Christ. You want others to leave Christ and follow the ways of the world. My allegiance is with the one true God.
@majinish No your church was established by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young by a lying spirit. Okay if you believe that you won't become a god anymore then your on the right track but Mormons believed this in the past and we have many documents of this. My Church was established by Jesus Christ when He preached His Gospel and He is One with His Father. So why weren't african americans allowed to be priests until the 60's? Polygamy? I've talked to a friend of mine and he confirmed everything.
@lefthanofares So now God the Father and Jesus Christ lie? That's a new one. Jesus himself said "ye are gods" so...
Moroni was of God. The polygamy issue again? You know this is 2011 & not the late 1800s right? So are Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, and others of the Bible not men of God because they also had more than one wife? Solomon had 700.
@majinish Wow you just took a lot of stuff out of context. When Jesus is saying "ye are gods" he is mocking them not affirming them you are doing exactly what a pharisee does. Also co-heir does not mean what you take it to mean and yes while a true believer will be made king and lord Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords. We are to be clothed in His righteousness in white spotless robes. He had to cloth us so we could even be accepted. So why are Adam and Eve cast out then?
@lefthanofares "you are doing exactly what a pharisee does"
False. You asked for proof and I gave it to you. Jesus wasn't mocking them.
"So why are Adam and Eve cast out then? "
Genesis 3:22-23. They were cast out so they wouldn't eat from the tree of life, not because they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The Bible doesn't say anywhere they were cast out for eating the fruit they already ate.
@majinish You do know that Jesus isn't literally saying that we are gods he is referring back to the authority given to the judges and is in fact mocking the pharisees for they have no right to judge because they are being hippocrites he isn't saying it as a complement or affirming this. In fact that is exactly what everyone in the world wants to be is a god because a god is in control but only God is in control and a true Christian knows this we are given authority not control. You are a fool
@lefthanofares You have no authority to act in Christ's name. Me knowing the true gospel of Jesus Christ is not being a fool. Being a fool is when people like you constantly reject Christ while you claim to believe in him.
@majinish You still haven't explained your doctrine to me. Or did it change again. You see Orthodox Christianity has not changed doctrinally since the Great Commission. But ever since the LDS has started they have changed their doctrine to where it is almost unrecognizable from the beginning and better disguised. Maybe that's why I can't pin you down because it has changed and you accepted that it has changed to make it more acceptable to the changing culture. It's still works based though.
@majinish Seriously post on my youtube wall what you believe, maybe you can baptize me into your church you all like doing stuff like that right? Maybe you'll get another wife in your celestial heaven and a bigger planet or something you can convert people right. So what's your heavenly father like has he always been around or did he ascend to godhood I'm curious. Tell me how to become like you and why you chose to follow this Jesus fellow. Did god really have sex with Mary? Joseph Smith?
@majinish I never said that those servants were not men of God they most certainly were but it is not how God had set up marriage from the beginning and I know that is still how mormons view it because I asked one and he affirmed it. Polygamy leads to jealousy and it led Solomon down the path to worship idols and forsake God for a season. The fall of man isn't a good thing like you view it wake up to what is around you. Quit living in la la land and realize we are deprived.
@majinish Quit living in the flesh of wanting to be a god quit being worldly as Christ tells us. I have been changed only by the power of God to no longer pursue such things because I have repented of my sin and realized that I am just dust in Gods hands and Jesus Christ has saved me and wants to save you but you don't listen to Him but to Joseph Smiths and all of your false apostles teachings and interpretations which are nothing short of gnostic and heretical and nothing new.
@lefthanofares What don't you get? I do follow God the Father and Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. You're like the Pharisees were. Grow up and stop talking against Jesus Christ.
@majinish Do you even know what the Pharisees did historically? They took verses out of context in order to justify things which they set up and loved having authority over the common people and wouldn't allow them to have the scriptures. I am not taking verses out of context.
@majinish No amount of good deeds can outweigh the bad and all men are evil at heart and inspired out of greed and the hope of something in return. I preach the good news that men can be freed by Christ's blood which was shed and that His resurrection gives hope for those in rebellion against God. You don't change but God changes you. Do you not think that I wish your Gospel were true and everybody but what we view as the most wicked will be in hell? That just testifies the untruthfulness.
@majinish I feel utterly saddened at the deception that you are in. I never once typed that Jesus is a liar well maybe your Jesus but mine isn't. Do you not know that he warned us that even if He were to return and teach a different gospel to not listen to Him? Because He knew that afterward there would be many fakes. You live by the flesh in disguise of following Christ. God Himself told us in Deuteronomy that He knows of none like Him and that there will never be one like Him.
@majinish So your Jesus he wants you to persecute homosexuals? I don't understand mormonism so why don't you post on my youtube account what its all about.
@lefthanofares The "your Jesus" is really old. He's not "our" Jesus. We believe in THE Jesus of the scriptures. We do not persecute homosexuals. We teach homosexuality is a sin but we're not persecuting the people. Unlike others, we believe in not making excuses for sin.
@majinish What did the serpent say to Adam and Eve in the garden? You shall be as God. What he left out is that they would die spiritually and be separated from God as he was when he repelled against God. You are utterly deceived.
@lefthanofares What did Christ say in Matthew? Be as your Father in Heaven. What did he say in John 10? "Ye are gods". Again, you're the one here being deceived because the world has convinced you to reject Jesus Christ and his teachings.
@majinish If you understood the full context then you would know it is referring back to verses in Psalms where God is referring to how He has given authority to rulers to seem as they are gods themselves. He also refers to Moses in this manner because He is giving Moses authority to have supernatural occurrences happen and show authority over Pharaoh. It is also in response to them questioning Jesus as being the Son of God. He then says this in that in the scripture it refers to men as gods.
@majinish He by no means says that they actually are going to be gods it is just referring to the fact that God gave authority to men and yes Jesus is mocking them. You do not know me or my life and how I act or why I act I only act in service to our Infinite Father in heaven. Our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are One and they are the only God. I am not rejecting Jesus Christ because I am reading His word and allowing Him to change me.
@majinish Why do you quote Paul in saying there would be apostasy and then ignore the fact that he says in Acts when the people say he and Barnabas are gods they tear the clothes from their body and then say that they are just men. Acts 14:8-18 It seems pretty convenient that you do this. But then again I guess you can just say well Joseph Smith said these parts that we quote are not corrupted but other parts are. If it is God's message to us then why did it get corrupted?
@majinish That doesn't sound like a very powerful God which you worship that would allow His word to be tainted. So have you performed a blood covenant yet? Oh wait that's apparently for those who have committed a sin which cannot be taken upon the cross which your Jesus was crucified upon. You do know that Paul killed people right? I guess that means he's in hell right now. You do know that Jesus said that our burden is light for Him to bear.
@majinish Also do you know what the Hebrew word for God or gods is? It is Elohim which I don't think you know this but it refers to several different things in different contexts. One is in reference to the God of Israel who is the Creator of all things ever...fact! and He wasn't created. The other is in reference to the idols but you don't worship them but it says they are gods that's convenient. And another is authority given to kings, by God, what a surprise!
@majinish Anyways this is the context of the verse which Jesus is referring to back in Psalm 82:6 and it is the authority which has been given to men of power by God for He is ultimately in control of all things. Yes we have freewill but He allows evil influences to test and tempt man and then influences them himself in regards to Pharaoh. God is ultimate authority but men of power are authorities or to some simply gods. Talk to an orthodox rabbi and he'll tell you this.
@majinish It was never Jesus Christ's intentions to say you are gods in the way you use it. Read the context of the verse and don't just take one verse and build a theology off of it. You do know that under Old Testament law Joseph Smith and everyone else which you consider a latter day saint would have been stoned to death and God would have known their hearts were faithful in such a matter. Muhammad would have had the same thing happen to him.
@majinish You still haven't explained any doctrine to me except thrown the same verse out of context like three times so I'm glad that's about the only bible verse you know and I guess the Genesis one. You are crafty like satan in that matter. Of course God isn't going to give them the tree of life because they have rebelled by breaking His first covenant with man. The eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was the ultimate reason, and God can't have someone in sin living forever.
@majinish You will probably just take another verse out of context in order to refute what I have said or just think of some loophole but the Bible describes men such as you as putting your head in the sand to avoid the rhino. You know that if what I say is true then you will have wasted a lot of your life but what is it to gain the whole world and lose your soul.
@majinish In ending I've never much liked this method but it must be used. If I'm wrong I know where I go in your kingdom I get to go to your telestial kingdom but if you're wrong you go to eternal wrath from the Lord you rejected. And my Lord is Holy in all that He does and has no beginning or end. Your lord is finite and created and I ask you this ,who created the system of your salvation that has supposed eternity? Who has made an idol the one that is finite or the one that is Eternal.
@lefthanofares Except I'm not the one who's rejecting Christ or his gospel. You claim you believe in Jesus yet you show you only accept certain things from the Bible and not all of it.
@majinish That is because all you need is the Bible. There was a man who had sold his soul to the devil and read the new testament while in prison and accepted Jesus Christ and the work that He had done on the cross and understood several things and had visions from old testament scripture that he hadn't read because all he had was the new testament. As Jesus tells us we must be born again, there was a complete change which came over him which is only a work of God. But you say he doesn't know.
@majinish The 66 books of the Bible are the only scriptures needed to see the full aspect of Jesus Christ and the depravity of man and his sinfulness. And it is a beautiful book showing how a perfect infinite Creator can use finite imperfect things to change the world. It is only by His grace and knowing how far man is from Him and no works by man will ever achieve anything lasting and that He had to come down to save us from ourselves that you realize He loves us when He doesn't have to.
@lefthanofares Then who was the remnant that fled Jerusalem? Who were the other lost sheep he spoke of "other sheep I have that are not of this fold"? Do try to use the Bible to find these answers. I'll give you a year.
"The 66 books of the Bible are the only scriptures needed "
The Bible itself disagrees. Revelation 14:6 is John seeing an angel that would have the EVERLASTING, not "another", gospel that would be preached to all the world.
@lefthanofares Since the Bible prophesies of the Book of Mormon & the events the Book of Mormon teaches, by more than just Revelation 14, then the Book of Mormon is needed. You say you follow the Bible. Saying you have no need for the Book of Mormon is saying you have no need to listen to parts of the Bible. Isaiah 18, Rev. 14, John 21, Isaiah 37, Jeremiah 49, Zephaniah 3, Genesis 49, Isaiah 16, Deuteronomy 33, Isaiah 29, Ezekiel 37, & the list goes on and on.
@majinish You do know that angel is messenger right? Revelation is filled with allegory and can be seen to fit anything if you want it to. The everlasting Gospel is that of the Lord Jesus Christ being preached to all nations by His messengers who remain faithful to Him. The Remnant is the tribe of Judah which is referred several times in the Prophets which has remained faithful and the sheep that are not of this fold is referring to Him preaching to the gentiles along with the Jews.
@lefthanofares Once again you've shown how little you know of the scriptures. The remnant was Nephi, Lehi, and the rest of their family as well as the servant of Laban and Ishmael's family.
@majinish There are always wheat among tares in the people who belong to Him a remnant that remains faithful to the covenant established by God. The tares are those who believe that they are justified in their good works and worship in lip service and do not worship in their hearts, while those who have heard the Good News realize that they could never accomplish it on their own and it is by God's grace that they even live and in their heart they are renewed and their dry bones live.
@lefthanofares The Book of Mormon tells of the actual people that were the remnant the Old Testament speaks of. You gave what would seem to be a good answer but nonetheless, a wrong answer. See what I mean about you taking the Bible out of context? In this case you were way off...as usual. As I said, including the verses I gave from the Bible, the Bible and Book of Mormon are the word of God. They are equal.
@majinish So what about when Jesus tells the Saduccees that there will be no marriage in heaven? (Matthew 22:23-33) Are you calling Jesus a liar when you say that there is eternal marriage in your Celestial Kingdom? I am taking this in context whereas you took John 10 out of context and should refer to Psalm 82 as well if you are to read it. I have answered your questions not in a year but in less than a day.
@lefthanofares Referring to "til death do you part" marriages. You forget the scriptures teach a man and woman married will be one. The Bible doesn't take that away. Again, it's only referring to marriages of "til death do you part". No, you're not taking Matthew 22 in context and I was the one taking John 10 in context. You say you answer but all you do is give a wrong answer.
@majinish No it just shows how much you make little loopholes that you wish to use for the support of your viewpoint. I've given you a short Hebrew lesson given you the context and the verse it refers to and I did not take Matthew 22 out of context "they shall neither be married nor given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven" Pretty clear cut to me from the lips of the man who is God and without sin or blemish. You can't just take things out without referencing like a pharisee.
@lefthanofares I don't use any loopholes for things I wish. I go by exactly what the Bible teaches. Yes, you did take Matthew 22 out of context. You believe you haven't due to following the teachings of the world.
@majinish You also do not know the Hebrew root for when it says one flesh, it is referring to the child born of the marriage. And know I may not have read all of my Bible completely but the tribe of Judah is the tribe of which Jesus descended from through Josephs lineage and so all those who have faith and believe in Him are in the tribe of Judah and are the remnant that is faithful.
@lefthanofares Ignore the truth all you want. The fact is you are incorrect on what the Bible really teaches. "it is referring to the child born of the marriage" The problem is not every marriage has children so as usual there's a problem with your "explanation". The remnant were those that are mentioned in the Book of Mormon. Again, the answer of who the remnant is isn't found in the Bible. My request is that you stop speaking against Christ, His church, and the Bible's REAL teachings.
@majinish If they are equal then why do you say that their are multiple gods this is not suggested at all in the Bible. And I've shown you that there are verses within your own text which support this claim. Also look at these verses Mark 12:29; John 10:30; Zechariah 14:9;Deuteronomy 4:35-39,6:4,32:39; Isaiah 43-46 and know that this is not enough though for what James 2:19. If you say they are equal then heed these verses and know there is only one God who is LORD.
@lefthanofares There's no "if they are equal." They are equal. As Christ said in a prayer, God the Father is the only true God. Jesus Christ, as the Bible teaches, is the God of Israel. Why do you think Christ referred to the Father as "my God"?
@majinish Let me ask one last thing, how old are you? Because right now you are so full of zeal and I know that you have probably just done your mormon mission or whatever it is and so unless you rise in the ranks of your church and even then you will be overrun by commandments that you will be very soon a whitewashed tomb with dead-man's bones inside. Just remember this there is still time for you to come out but even then you cannot count on that because we are as dust in the wind.
@lefthanofares Actually I'm leaving this year to teach people the gospel of Jesus Christ. And no thanks, I prefer to stay a member of Jesus Christ's church. You have little knowledge about Jesus Christ and certainly little about the Bible as well going by your previous posts.
@majinish You deny who Jesus Christ is, what He has done and what He shall do.I fear for you when He returns, know this whoever comes out of that door in Utah when the time comes is most definitely not the true Jesus Christ because He promised it wouldn't be a secret coming. Our Father,Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are God and God is One. Not three separate deities that became gods but the only true God and all my sins have been payed for upon the cross and I will be resurrected as He is.
@lefthanofares Son of God, Savior, our Lord our God, God of Israel, son of Mary, the only begotten, healer, teacher. Does that look like denying? I know exactly who Jesus is. Great, the trinity stuff that was borrowed from paganism again.
@lefthanofares "Not three separate deities that became gods but the only true God and all my sins have been payed for upon the cross and I will be resurrected as He is."
You proved my point with this. Jesus prayed to God the Father and said HE, God the Father, is the ONLY true God. You also claim your sins have already been forgiven by the cross. Does this mean you've never repented?
@majinish You can speak verbatim the letter of the law all you want and add to it which is a curse that shall be upon you. But you know not the Spirit of the law and the secrets within are kept hidden from you. If you live for another 20 years and realize you are just an empty shell, consider this I will never be an empty shell for my dead bones now live for the Holy Spirit has regenerated me and Christ lives within me and will never let me go, unless I were to decide to re-crucify Him.
@lefthanofares Well too bad for you I ain't cursed. I do have the Holy Ghost with me. This is not something I just claim, this is something that's a fact. You're an empty shell right now. You can't claim you follow Christ while you continue to persecute his church.
@majinish So your god is confined to the same physical limits of a human but just in a exalted body? He may have the powers to become more powerful but he is limited and needs you...like an idol. You see if there was ever full apostasy we wouldn't be here because God doesn't need us and isn't confined to rules but makes them according to His will for He is Holy and Sovereign and not confined by what we think of Him.
@majinish It's not the trinity it's the triune nature of who God is. You should read some of what Justin Martyr wrote on it to know that just because paganism shares some of the same things you cannot write it off since it is evident throughout the Bible. I'm sorry but I don't think any Christian has ever had anything like blood atonement. Okay explain who Jesus Christ is since you know Him and tell me who God is explain since you are so knowledgeable. And I haven't apostasized from anything.
@lefthanofares No, the triune nature (aka trinity) isn't throughout the Bible. I know what verses people use and it's rather sad they feel those verses (such as John 1) support this trinity concept.
"And I haven't apostasized from anything."
Since you talked against Jesus Christ's church that makes you an apostate of Jesus Christ and his teachings.
I know exactly who Christ is and I know who God the Father is.
@majinish Why have you not explained any doctrine to me? All you do is put out a verse from the Bible saying something vague and say you are right I have given you a verse several times and explained what it meant backing myself and all you do is claim you're right but avoid the issue. You know why because everything you do is something that is directly taught from another person claiming it's truth and you don't take the time to actually read it. I on the other hand just read and ask God.
@lefthanofares I did but you failed to listen. I went over marriage and explained what Matthew 22 says about that one particular case and also of Jesus' own words in John 10. You didn't back anything. Obviously you don't ask God because you don't have any understanding of what you read.
@majinish Who is Jesus Christ? And who is God? What kind of love does God have for us and what are we called to have for others? Answer these three questions.
@lefthanofares The only true God is God the Father as Jesus said in a prayer. He is God of all. Jesus Christ is our Lord our God who is the Son of God. Your questions are kind of insulting. You act as if I do not know Christ, God the Father, or what the atonement is. I assure you I do. I know who they are, what the atonement is, and the fact that gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth.
@lefthanofares Let's reverse this. Who do you say Christ is? Who do you say God the Father is? If you decide to take scriptures out of context, again, I will correct you.
@majinish Jesus and His Father are One because it says in. Read John 1. Also if you read throughout John you will see them worshiping Jesus and He receives the worship. We see the same thing in Joshua 5:13-15 which is the pre-incarnate Word. They never worship and are never told to not worship in these places because He knows who He is. It also says if you have seen Jesus you have seen the Father.
@lefthanofares You mean John 1:1? Yes, I know that verse by heart. Not exactly something that supports the false trinity doctrine but go ahead and think it does if you want.
@lefthanofares Why do you call it false when the people who learned directly from the Apostles wrote down what was believed. Some people claim the Apostles Creed was written at the Nicene council but they were going off of letters explaining the message preached from the Apostles. Even though Rome has some funky stuff they were able to preserve the doctrinal views of the early church then they added paganism. What is funny is Rome and your "restoration" have some things in common.
@jancy82520 Thank you, your approval means the world to me. Lol (I'm lying ;) )Really, I am so happy to have met you, actually, because it makes me feel so much more blessed that I am not ignorant and know what I believe in, and don't have to get kicks out of trashing other religions. Have a good day, and btw, "Glad" shouldn't be capitalized :)
@jancy82520 My final say to some1 who once was a member of the church, especially 1 who has come from a long line of involvement, try praying again, dust off that BOM that I hope u still have around & just read it again with an open mind. U may be pleasantly surprised at how u'll feel. I'm thru with this post except to say many in my family teach all levels of education (preschool, elementary, high school & universities), are lawyers & accountants, highly respected & loved. We're not ignorant!
@jancy82520 What I find difficult to fathom is why people who've not found what pleases them in the church, go on this time-wasting crusade to tear down others. How hard is it for them to go get a life! Stop wasting precious time criticizing or being so dark and negative about others. Our family members are very happy with the church & our lives. We really don't need others telling us we believe in propaganda this, lies that, whatever! It really does get tedious.
I know you'll be hanging out for a response because I know that's what people like u do - contend! But I'll just post one more reply then it's all yours to comment again to your hearts content. I will not be responding again.
Firstly, I don't fearfully assume anything. I'm not fearful? Why shd I b? If I have an opinion on anything, I'll express it, and if people don't want to agree with my opinion, that's their choice. It doesn't make them any less intelligent than I think I might be.
@jancy82520 I feel sorry for you with your convoluted, misinformed concept of my church. Where do you people get all your information from? Can I guess? From others who are equally misinformed, I suspect. Go to mormon.org and start getting your story right. I and my extended family are grateful for the mormon missionaries who found my grandfather in a very remote village in my country, taught him about the gospel of Jesus Christ, & as a result, we have been greatly blessed.
@jancy82520 That is your view on it, and you are not very correct. As an LDS woman, I have never felt disrespected by my priesthood-holding brothers, and love my Gospel very much. However, everyone is allowed to worship what and how they wish, a principle taught to every LDS young man and woman. It is one of our 13 Articles of Faith. Thanks for feeling so able to share your opinion, and may you see that not one of us Mormons hold bad thoughts against you and others who agree with you :)
@jancy82520 millions of people around the world including myself KNOW this church, the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints is true. I know because as The Bible and The Book of Mormon say, ask and ye shall receive, come to god with an open heart and a contrite spirit and ask of him if these things you read are true. i have prayed and received an answer. i dont have to wish it is true i know it and i will know the rest of my life. read the book or Mormon and pray about it.
@jancy82520 I do know actually. I cannot deny this church. I only reply because I feel it needs to be explained. I am actually a really open person. I listen to other people's beliefs and I know that it has meaning to them. What I have seen in my life, experienced, There is just no way this church isn't true. It may seem crazy and there may be no facts to you, but what I know is that there are facts enough. I have done my research. I've searched my soul and know this is right. I know it is true.
@jancy82520 I know the church has persecuted others. I understand though. I didn't mean search for truth about the church, I already know that it is true. I know it. I just meant I don't know how to not assume things about people, like you. I'm learning how to act and react to things. I am still learning of my church, or relearning, but I cannot deny the truthfulness of the gospel. sorry.
@jancy82520 I'm sorry to have misunderstood you so much, I am young and stupid and still learning about everything. There is Mormon persecution. Always has been. persecution such as losing a job because of prop 8 or being chased out of their homes in the early history or killed and even mean comments on the internet. all prosecution. You may not believe this to be persecution, but that's alright. I'm going to go find something better to do with my time. good luck in your fight for truth.
@jancy82520 I just want you to know and understand that this is where I find peace in my life. It has for a while and always will be. I may not know your situation in life or your relationship with god, but I honestly and truly wish you happiness. I actually wish to shake your hand and meet you in person, but that'll probably never happen, but maybe in the next life.
@jancy82520 Sorry to jump to conclusions and offend you. I didn't mean to. I just get frustrated when people don't give us a chance and don't give our beliefs a chance when there are so many better things to do with your time. I know it's a lost cause to try and explain to you that I really do believe in this church the Prophets and my God, but I can't help it. The worth of souls is great in the sight of god including yours. You may know that already. when you argue with me it feels like hate.
Nancy, why? why must you prove we aren't true? What drives you? It makes me mourn that you hate us so much to challenge everything we believe. not because i don't want to face the possibility that it might be false. because you are a child of god. He sheds tears for your soul. He loves you. I love you, but I know you probably won't listen to me. and that's what saddens me the most. That you won't even give us a chance. You've already made up your mind. I hope you find peace someday.
part of which reads, "If thou lovest me thou shalt keep all my commandments. And behold, thou wilt remember the poor, and consecrate of thy properties for their support that which thou hast to impart unto them, with a covenant and a deed which cannot be broken.".

@LatterDaySaint1029 lool its okay if you belive jesus came to america, there are people who believe that scientology is a real religion as well. when i actual fact they are both cults.
1610s, "worship," also "a particular form of worship," from Fr. culte (17c.), from L. cultus "care, labor; cultivation, culture; worship, reverence," originally "tended, cultivated," pp. of colere "to till" (see colony). The 15-acre site near Greenfield and Pecos roads would have 658 parking spaces and room for a future meeting house, which would likely be built within two to four years, town planner Amy Temes said.
The meeting house will include a chapel for Sunday worship services, which are open to the general public. The temple itself will be closed Sundays. Only church members are admitted to the temple.
Though it is led by a prophet, the LDS Church remains neutral in political conflicts, choosing instead to focus on the spiritual development of its members in 176 countries

Winter Quarters and Kanesville are critical components of the transition following the martyrdom of Joseph Smith, expulsion from Nauvoo and eventual settlement in the Salt Lake Valley. .

Calling a build a "Temple of God" doesn't make it so.
gurumagoo 8 months ago
@gurumagoo "That's why Jews go to Synagogue (means "assymbly") and not to "temple"
I was just looking in Denver, Colorado and there is a Jewish Temple there called TEMPLE SINAI. You must NOT be Jewish.
omiolo 7 months ago
@omiolo Temple Sinai hold a similiar place among true Jews to that of the LDS among true Christians. They are a fringe group and do not represent the beliefs and practices of Judaism. I must NOT be Jewish? That's funny, since I was Jewish when I woke up this morning. Actually, I am Kohanim (a direct descendant of Aaron). Sounds pretty "Jewish" doesn't it?
gurumagoo 7 months ago
@gurumagoo "Temple Sinai hold a similiar place among true Jews"
What is a TRUE Jew? Conservative, Reformed, Orthodox, Ultraorthodox, etc? And who gets to decide? I think you are playing games.
omiolo 7 months ago
@omiolo There you go. You just blew yourself out of the water. Who gets to decide? That would be the Torah. It contains the first and last word of what constitutes a Jew; just like the New Testament contains the first and last word of what constitutes a Christian. After 2000 years of Christian history and 3000 years of Jewish history, the terms "Christian" and "Jew" are not subject to the revisions of a cult. And yes, the LDS ARE A CULT.
gurumagoo 7 months ago
@gurumagoo "Who gets to decide? That would be the Torah"
sounds like YOUR interpretation of such gets to decided. So in reality, YOU have made yourself the ultimate decider. VERY self serving.
omiolo 7 months ago

Coolcow6 7 months ago
@Coolcow6 To answer you're first question: apparently so! LOL. I fail to understand how works of charity distinguish Mormonism from a cult. And there you go....the eternal mormon cry of persecution. Persecution is what you call it when people point out that your beliefs are nonsense and have no foundation in fact. The Holy Land and the City of David are a REAL place. You can climb the hills and walk down the ancient streets. Your so called "holy book" is a far fetched work of bad fiction.
gurumagoo 7 months ago
@Coolcow6 And no, American Indians are not, and never have been descendants of Israelites. It's a PROVEN fact. In other words, your "true word of god" is PROVEN to be false. All semites share common genetic markers. My own DNA, which HAS been genetically tested by the way, PROVES who I am. I am a descendant of Aharon, brother of Moshe. No Native person anywhere in the America's shares my genetic heritage. The reason for this is that the events of your Book of Mormon NEVER happened. It's fiction.

All of these scholars do not know the true Jesus Christ sadly.
lefthanofares 11 months ago
@lefthanofares You are very wrong. We members of Jesus Christ's church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. are in fact THE true believers of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. Jesus Christ has ordained the temples. I truly feel sorry for you for rejecting the gospel of Jesus Christ and for speaking out against what Jesus Christ has done. You are in fact the one who does not know the true Jesus Christ.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish I worship the Jesus of the Bible and perhaps who Joseph Smith knew as well since the book of mormon is rather pseudo christian but Brigham Young destroyed any hope of it just being a new denomination. Tell me where the evidence is that the Bible has been tainted and evidence archaeologically that the fantastical tales in the book of mormon actually occurred. You have an archaeology team devoted to such that has never found anything. I'm merely telling you the truth which hurts.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
Also how many gods do you worship? You have three where I have the One Who Is The Lord my God who has rescued me from all my sins and regenerated my heart mind and soul to praise Him and Him alone, for all the ages for I have died and am carrying my cross, to live a life of devotion to Him, and spread His true good news for all nations to hear for the time fast approaches where every tongue shall sing and every knee shall bow and His wrath shall destroy the wickedness and evil.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish Also tell me why on your mormon website it tries to pass itself off as christian, I read it and I can actually agree with it on you statement of doctrine but then I talk to someone and then they tell me what you actually believe. That is dishonest and if you are guess what it is lying, if lying is a sin why are you not open to what is believed and why do you try to pass off as christian and then do a switch you are deceived and trying to deceive the Bible is clear on what is going on.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Because we're Christians. I do know what we believe and I know we teach the truth. Yes, the Bible is very clear with what goes on. The Bible is in fact a source that proves the Book of Mormon is true.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish I never said that I want people to follow the ways of the world but that I want them to follow the truth in Jesus Christ. On the book of Mormon it says "Another Testament of Jesus Christ" another testament indeed which refutes itself within it's pages and Mormon doctrine. It is a spirit of religion which tells you it is true because you see worldly works which you think are Godly and you use a bait and switch technique to bring people into your "church".
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares You can't claim you want others to follow the truth as long as you continue to speak against Jesus Christ's teachings.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish As mormon's preach their "gospel" they make it seem that they are orthodox christian and then when you go into the mormon church that's when you find that you actually believe you will become god's. Refute this if it is untrue but it is in your doctrine or was and your doctrine is constantly changing to be less controversial and dull the line of true biblical Christianity and something based off a man who led people to seclusion and introduced all sorts of heresy.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Correction, we preach Jesus Christ's gospel. The name of Jesus Christ's church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. We are the true Biblical Christians.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You have not denied what I've said because you know it to be the truth in how you view being a christian and you truly believe you will ascend to godhood if you follow laws to the fullest. This is never what Jesus Christ taught until there was extra "revelation". Do you not know what the first sin not only of the angels but of man is, it is the thought that one can be as God. This is the reason for the fall and evil in the world today and wickedness.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Actually the New Testament says we'll be joint-heirs with Christ. In order to say "be as God is a sin" you would have to call Jesus a liar. Look up John 10:34-35. That is Jesus saying "ye are Gods". And if you're saying eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil is why Adam and Eve were sent out of the garden you're mistaken. You need to read Genesis 2 & 3 about that.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish Man is capable of no good which is everlasting without God regenerating their very soul in acceptance of Jesus Christ and His atonement on the Cross(not in the garden of Gethsemane)and His resurrection. And throughout the Bible it says that God will never create one like Himself because it is impossible to create something that is eternal for eternal things were never created. But then again you have a doctrine which is completely contradictory to the Bible but you say it supports it
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares "(not in the garden of Gethsemane)" One of the many ignorant assumptions about us. We do not believe the atonement took place in Gethsemane. Read Matthew. Gethsemane is where he began to suffer pain and was sweating a lot. We teach the atonement was on the cross.
majinish 10 months ago
@lefthanofares "But then again you have a doctrine which is completely contradictory to the Bible but you say it supports it"
False. We do not have a doctrine that contradicts the Bible.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You are completely blinded to the truth and are actually following worldly ways because you see the mormon church promoting all these values which are good and I'd rather a child be raised in a mormon home than that of an agnostic or atheist but above all I'd rather the child be raised to follow the true Jesus Christ with a true sense of righteousness. I know that they pile on rules and commands as you rise through the ranks in hope of becoming a god and it is impossible to keep them.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Again, the name of Jesus Christ's church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. What I have told you is the truth. If I followed the world I would be like you. Unlike you, I follow the real Jesus Christ. I do hope the Lord will show you your error of speaking against Him. The church is true because it was established by Jesus Christ.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish Also where are the tablets which the mormon book comes from? Why if you believe it so much won't let other people see them. The bible has thousands of manuscripts which scholars use and have been proven to be accurate. And while there may be some words missing in one but present in the other there is nothing which contradicts whereas the Book of Mormon contradicts itself and Mormon doctrine. Leave the lie while you still can and listen to a Christian when he comes to you.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares You mean the Golden Plates that the Book of Mormon was translated from by the power of God. Moroni took them back. This would require to believe by faith rather than sight. "Why if you believe it so much won't let other people see them." 26 people saw the Golden Plates including Joseph Smith. This question is like an atheist asking how we believe in God without seeing Him. Christ said more blessed are those who believe yet haven't seen.
majinish 10 months ago
@lefthanofares I'm not part of a lie. I am a member of Jesus Christ's church. I am a true Christian. You need to read the Bible. It proves the Book of Mormon is true.
majinish 10 months ago

And He was never a man to begin with.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinishBut rather He became a man to save us.You only see what you want to see because scales cover your eyes to truth but truly go with the intent to seek truth read Jesus' words carefully and examine your heart and with whose allegiance it lies. Also if you are right then I'll be in your tellestial kingdom but if you are wrong there is only one place which you shall go because you believe you are justified in Gods eyes but He will show you on the White Throne Judgment how man cannot measureup
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Have you not listened? What I have told you is the truth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is indeed Jesus Christ's church. That is the truth.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish I am listening but know that you are deceived and you pass yourself off as something you are not. If you would only listen to reason in what I am saying you would realize that the Jesus Christ of the Bible is not the same as taught by the mormon "church", because mormons say He isn't eternal, which is grieving God, and there are several other things which set up an anti-christ. You add on things which contradict scripture and you follow the teachings of man rather than God.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish You also add to what Jesus Christ came to do. We are completely and totally deprived of doing good in the eyes of God for our greatest works are dirty rags in His Holy and Perfect Eyes but you believe you can work and try to bridge that gap in your fallen nature by performing works to make it. You are saying that Jesus Christ's work wasn't enough for you to see the Father. Of course you also redefine every thing within the Bible so this will go in one ear and out the other.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish I can also give you writings from your unholy scripture which Joseph Smith wrote which are direct plagiarizations from a KJV Bible which are in direct contrast to doctrines taught today by your mockery of the true Church of Jesus Christ, which is His Bride, and are supportive of the true Christian theology of God in that He is One and Eternal, not three and nor that he was once a man.Look at (2 Nephi 11:7,26:12,31:21; Mosiah 5:15,15:2-5; Alma 11:22-29, 11:38-44)The list keeps going.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish So tell me why do what they teach now contradict your "holy" book of mormon why do they lie to you if Joseph Smiths "revelation" from an angel of light, which is how satan masquerades as and with satan's servants as servants of righteousness, actually has traditional Christian doctrine interspersed within it. It is because they know the lie and love it the same as you do, you like it because it's comfortable, but that is how religious piety is it is comfortable to the unregenerate.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares So what about the angel John saw that was the cause of the book of Revelation or the one that told Joseph to fear not that Mary was pregnant with Jesus? Were those angels also Satan? According to you there's no good angel. Calling Moroni a demon of Satan directly contradicts Christ's teachings. Any messenger that says Christ came in the flesh is of God. Moroni did just that therefore he was of God.
majinish 10 months ago
@lefthanofares You need to read the Bible again. You have little knowledge on what it teaches. The only one comfortable with a lie here is you. I have told nothing but the truth. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the only true church on the earth because it was established by Jesus Christ. This is more than a belief, this is an absolute fact.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish No, John even gives us ways to test these spirits and it is to testify the Jesus who is the Son of God who is one with His Father came in the flesh. I have read the Bible and am listening to it and still reading it and I don't need any one but God to tell me how to read it. I never said those angels were Satan. You falsely presume just because the Moron angel testifies the Jesus came in the flesh then add but he isn't the only god. Thus it is testifying a different Jesus in name only.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish You need to stop lying now and presumtiously putting false words into my comments and reading them in your Mormon eyes and see the truth now. You have additions to scripture which completely contradict them and were proclaimed heresy by the apostles and the church fathers after they died nearly 1900 years ago this is nothing new and variants have been taught for centuries. I only inform you this for fear of your very soul. And you do not address the reference to your false scriptures
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Too bad for you I'm not lying.
You've denied Jesus and rejected his gospel.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You are the one living in a lie and I am here hoping and praying that you will open your eyes to this but know that you don't want to. And why do you believe this lie because you experienced the all powerful "burning bosom" don't you think that if satan sets up a lie he will work however possible in order to deceive. Also it is the Almighty God allowing him to work in this way to test the allegiance of your heart which is not toward the One True God at this moment. He is jealous.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares It's the Spirit of God that lets me know the church is true. I live the true gospel of Jesus Christ. You want others to leave Christ and follow the ways of the world. My allegiance is with the one true God.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish No your church was established by Joseph Smith and Brigham Young by a lying spirit. Okay if you believe that you won't become a god anymore then your on the right track but Mormons believed this in the past and we have many documents of this. My Church was established by Jesus Christ when He preached His Gospel and He is One with His Father. So why weren't african americans allowed to be priests until the 60's? Polygamy? I've talked to a friend of mine and he confirmed everything.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares So now God the Father and Jesus Christ lie? That's a new one. Jesus himself said "ye are gods" so...
Moroni was of God. The polygamy issue again? You know this is 2011 & not the late 1800s right? So are Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, and others of the Bible not men of God because they also had more than one wife? Solomon had 700.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish Wow you just took a lot of stuff out of context. When Jesus is saying "ye are gods" he is mocking them not affirming them you are doing exactly what a pharisee does. Also co-heir does not mean what you take it to mean and yes while a true believer will be made king and lord Jesus Christ is King of kings and Lord of lords. We are to be clothed in His righteousness in white spotless robes. He had to cloth us so we could even be accepted. So why are Adam and Eve cast out then?
lefthanofares 10 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@lefthanofares "you are doing exactly what a pharisee does"
False. You asked for proof and I gave it to you. Jesus wasn't mocking them.
"So why are Adam and Eve cast out then? "
Genesis 3:22-23. They were cast out so they wouldn't eat from the tree of life, not because they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The Bible doesn't say anywhere they were cast out for eating the fruit they already ate.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You do know that Jesus isn't literally saying that we are gods he is referring back to the authority given to the judges and is in fact mocking the pharisees for they have no right to judge because they are being hippocrites he isn't saying it as a complement or affirming this. In fact that is exactly what everyone in the world wants to be is a god because a god is in control but only God is in control and a true Christian knows this we are given authority not control. You are a fool
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares You have no authority to act in Christ's name. Me knowing the true gospel of Jesus Christ is not being a fool. Being a fool is when people like you constantly reject Christ while you claim to believe in him.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You still haven't explained your doctrine to me. Or did it change again. You see Orthodox Christianity has not changed doctrinally since the Great Commission. But ever since the LDS has started they have changed their doctrine to where it is almost unrecognizable from the beginning and better disguised. Maybe that's why I can't pin you down because it has changed and you accepted that it has changed to make it more acceptable to the changing culture. It's still works based though.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish Seriously post on my youtube wall what you believe, maybe you can baptize me into your church you all like doing stuff like that right? Maybe you'll get another wife in your celestial heaven and a bigger planet or something you can convert people right. So what's your heavenly father like has he always been around or did he ascend to godhood I'm curious. Tell me how to become like you and why you chose to follow this Jesus fellow. Did god really have sex with Mary? Joseph Smith?
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish I never said that those servants were not men of God they most certainly were but it is not how God had set up marriage from the beginning and I know that is still how mormons view it because I asked one and he affirmed it. Polygamy leads to jealousy and it led Solomon down the path to worship idols and forsake God for a season. The fall of man isn't a good thing like you view it wake up to what is around you. Quit living in la la land and realize we are deprived.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish Quit living in the flesh of wanting to be a god quit being worldly as Christ tells us. I have been changed only by the power of God to no longer pursue such things because I have repented of my sin and realized that I am just dust in Gods hands and Jesus Christ has saved me and wants to save you but you don't listen to Him but to Joseph Smiths and all of your false apostles teachings and interpretations which are nothing short of gnostic and heretical and nothing new.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares What don't you get? I do follow God the Father and Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. You're like the Pharisees were. Grow up and stop talking against Jesus Christ.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish Do you even know what the Pharisees did historically? They took verses out of context in order to justify things which they set up and loved having authority over the common people and wouldn't allow them to have the scriptures. I am not taking verses out of context.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Yes, you've taken verses out of context. You also deny living prophets just as the Pharisees did.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish No amount of good deeds can outweigh the bad and all men are evil at heart and inspired out of greed and the hope of something in return. I preach the good news that men can be freed by Christ's blood which was shed and that His resurrection gives hope for those in rebellion against God. You don't change but God changes you. Do you not think that I wish your Gospel were true and everybody but what we view as the most wicked will be in hell? That just testifies the untruthfulness.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish I feel utterly saddened at the deception that you are in. I never once typed that Jesus is a liar well maybe your Jesus but mine isn't. Do you not know that he warned us that even if He were to return and teach a different gospel to not listen to Him? Because He knew that afterward there would be many fakes. You live by the flesh in disguise of following Christ. God Himself told us in Deuteronomy that He knows of none like Him and that there will never be one like Him.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares And we don't teach a different gospel. We teach THE gospel of Jesus Christ.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish So your Jesus he wants you to persecute homosexuals? I don't understand mormonism so why don't you post on my youtube account what its all about.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares The "your Jesus" is really old. He's not "our" Jesus. We believe in THE Jesus of the scriptures. We do not persecute homosexuals. We teach homosexuality is a sin but we're not persecuting the people. Unlike others, we believe in not making excuses for sin.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish What did the serpent say to Adam and Eve in the garden? You shall be as God. What he left out is that they would die spiritually and be separated from God as he was when he repelled against God. You are utterly deceived.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares What did Christ say in Matthew? Be as your Father in Heaven. What did he say in John 10? "Ye are gods". Again, you're the one here being deceived because the world has convinced you to reject Jesus Christ and his teachings.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish If you understood the full context then you would know it is referring back to verses in Psalms where God is referring to how He has given authority to rulers to seem as they are gods themselves. He also refers to Moses in this manner because He is giving Moses authority to have supernatural occurrences happen and show authority over Pharaoh. It is also in response to them questioning Jesus as being the Son of God. He then says this in that in the scripture it refers to men as gods.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish He by no means says that they actually are going to be gods it is just referring to the fact that God gave authority to men and yes Jesus is mocking them. You do not know me or my life and how I act or why I act I only act in service to our Infinite Father in heaven. Our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are One and they are the only God. I am not rejecting Jesus Christ because I am reading His word and allowing Him to change me.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish Why do you quote Paul in saying there would be apostasy and then ignore the fact that he says in Acts when the people say he and Barnabas are gods they tear the clothes from their body and then say that they are just men. Acts 14:8-18 It seems pretty convenient that you do this. But then again I guess you can just say well Joseph Smith said these parts that we quote are not corrupted but other parts are. If it is God's message to us then why did it get corrupted?
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish That doesn't sound like a very powerful God which you worship that would allow His word to be tainted. So have you performed a blood covenant yet? Oh wait that's apparently for those who have committed a sin which cannot be taken upon the cross which your Jesus was crucified upon. You do know that Paul killed people right? I guess that means he's in hell right now. You do know that Jesus said that our burden is light for Him to bear.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish Also do you know what the Hebrew word for God or gods is? It is Elohim which I don't think you know this but it refers to several different things in different contexts. One is in reference to the God of Israel who is the Creator of all things ever...fact! and He wasn't created. The other is in reference to the idols but you don't worship them but it says they are gods that's convenient. And another is authority given to kings, by God, what a surprise!
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish Anyways this is the context of the verse which Jesus is referring to back in Psalm 82:6 and it is the authority which has been given to men of power by God for He is ultimately in control of all things. Yes we have freewill but He allows evil influences to test and tempt man and then influences them himself in regards to Pharaoh. God is ultimate authority but men of power are authorities or to some simply gods. Talk to an orthodox rabbi and he'll tell you this.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish It was never Jesus Christ's intentions to say you are gods in the way you use it. Read the context of the verse and don't just take one verse and build a theology off of it. You do know that under Old Testament law Joseph Smith and everyone else which you consider a latter day saint would have been stoned to death and God would have known their hearts were faithful in such a matter. Muhammad would have had the same thing happen to him.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish You still haven't explained any doctrine to me except thrown the same verse out of context like three times so I'm glad that's about the only bible verse you know and I guess the Genesis one. You are crafty like satan in that matter. Of course God isn't going to give them the tree of life because they have rebelled by breaking His first covenant with man. The eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was the ultimate reason, and God can't have someone in sin living forever.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish You will probably just take another verse out of context in order to refute what I have said or just think of some loophole but the Bible describes men such as you as putting your head in the sand to avoid the rhino. You know that if what I say is true then you will have wasted a lot of your life but what is it to gain the whole world and lose your soul.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish In ending I've never much liked this method but it must be used. If I'm wrong I know where I go in your kingdom I get to go to your telestial kingdom but if you're wrong you go to eternal wrath from the Lord you rejected. And my Lord is Holy in all that He does and has no beginning or end. Your lord is finite and created and I ask you this ,who created the system of your salvation that has supposed eternity? Who has made an idol the one that is finite or the one that is Eternal.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Except I'm not the one who's rejecting Christ or his gospel. You claim you believe in Jesus yet you show you only accept certain things from the Bible and not all of it.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish That is because all you need is the Bible. There was a man who had sold his soul to the devil and read the new testament while in prison and accepted Jesus Christ and the work that He had done on the cross and understood several things and had visions from old testament scripture that he hadn't read because all he had was the new testament. As Jesus tells us we must be born again, there was a complete change which came over him which is only a work of God. But you say he doesn't know.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish The 66 books of the Bible are the only scriptures needed to see the full aspect of Jesus Christ and the depravity of man and his sinfulness. And it is a beautiful book showing how a perfect infinite Creator can use finite imperfect things to change the world. It is only by His grace and knowing how far man is from Him and no works by man will ever achieve anything lasting and that He had to come down to save us from ourselves that you realize He loves us when He doesn't have to.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Then who was the remnant that fled Jerusalem? Who were the other lost sheep he spoke of "other sheep I have that are not of this fold"? Do try to use the Bible to find these answers. I'll give you a year.
"The 66 books of the Bible are the only scriptures needed "
The Bible itself disagrees. Revelation 14:6 is John seeing an angel that would have the EVERLASTING, not "another", gospel that would be preached to all the world.
majinish 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Since the Bible prophesies of the Book of Mormon & the events the Book of Mormon teaches, by more than just Revelation 14, then the Book of Mormon is needed. You say you follow the Bible. Saying you have no need for the Book of Mormon is saying you have no need to listen to parts of the Bible. Isaiah 18, Rev. 14, John 21, Isaiah 37, Jeremiah 49, Zephaniah 3, Genesis 49, Isaiah 16, Deuteronomy 33, Isaiah 29, Ezekiel 37, & the list goes on and on.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You do know that angel is messenger right? Revelation is filled with allegory and can be seen to fit anything if you want it to. The everlasting Gospel is that of the Lord Jesus Christ being preached to all nations by His messengers who remain faithful to Him. The Remnant is the tribe of Judah which is referred several times in the Prophets which has remained faithful and the sheep that are not of this fold is referring to Him preaching to the gentiles along with the Jews.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Once again you've shown how little you know of the scriptures. The remnant was Nephi, Lehi, and the rest of their family as well as the servant of Laban and Ishmael's family.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish There are always wheat among tares in the people who belong to Him a remnant that remains faithful to the covenant established by God. The tares are those who believe that they are justified in their good works and worship in lip service and do not worship in their hearts, while those who have heard the Good News realize that they could never accomplish it on their own and it is by God's grace that they even live and in their heart they are renewed and their dry bones live.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares The Book of Mormon tells of the actual people that were the remnant the Old Testament speaks of. You gave what would seem to be a good answer but nonetheless, a wrong answer. See what I mean about you taking the Bible out of context? In this case you were way off...as usual. As I said, including the verses I gave from the Bible, the Bible and Book of Mormon are the word of God. They are equal.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish So what about when Jesus tells the Saduccees that there will be no marriage in heaven? (Matthew 22:23-33) Are you calling Jesus a liar when you say that there is eternal marriage in your Celestial Kingdom? I am taking this in context whereas you took John 10 out of context and should refer to Psalm 82 as well if you are to read it. I have answered your questions not in a year but in less than a day.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Referring to "til death do you part" marriages. You forget the scriptures teach a man and woman married will be one. The Bible doesn't take that away. Again, it's only referring to marriages of "til death do you part". No, you're not taking Matthew 22 in context and I was the one taking John 10 in context. You say you answer but all you do is give a wrong answer.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish No it just shows how much you make little loopholes that you wish to use for the support of your viewpoint. I've given you a short Hebrew lesson given you the context and the verse it refers to and I did not take Matthew 22 out of context "they shall neither be married nor given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven" Pretty clear cut to me from the lips of the man who is God and without sin or blemish. You can't just take things out without referencing like a pharisee.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares I don't use any loopholes for things I wish. I go by exactly what the Bible teaches. Yes, you did take Matthew 22 out of context. You believe you haven't due to following the teachings of the world.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You also do not know the Hebrew root for when it says one flesh, it is referring to the child born of the marriage. And know I may not have read all of my Bible completely but the tribe of Judah is the tribe of which Jesus descended from through Josephs lineage and so all those who have faith and believe in Him are in the tribe of Judah and are the remnant that is faithful.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Ignore the truth all you want. The fact is you are incorrect on what the Bible really teaches. "it is referring to the child born of the marriage" The problem is not every marriage has children so as usual there's a problem with your "explanation". The remnant were those that are mentioned in the Book of Mormon. Again, the answer of who the remnant is isn't found in the Bible. My request is that you stop speaking against Christ, His church, and the Bible's REAL teachings.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish If they are equal then why do you say that their are multiple gods this is not suggested at all in the Bible. And I've shown you that there are verses within your own text which support this claim. Also look at these verses Mark 12:29; John 10:30; Zechariah 14:9;Deuteronomy 4:35-39,6:4,32:39; Isaiah 43-46 and know that this is not enough though for what James 2:19. If you say they are equal then heed these verses and know there is only one God who is LORD.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares There's no "if they are equal." They are equal. As Christ said in a prayer, God the Father is the only true God. Jesus Christ, as the Bible teaches, is the God of Israel. Why do you think Christ referred to the Father as "my God"?
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish Let me ask one last thing, how old are you? Because right now you are so full of zeal and I know that you have probably just done your mormon mission or whatever it is and so unless you rise in the ranks of your church and even then you will be overrun by commandments that you will be very soon a whitewashed tomb with dead-man's bones inside. Just remember this there is still time for you to come out but even then you cannot count on that because we are as dust in the wind.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Actually I'm leaving this year to teach people the gospel of Jesus Christ. And no thanks, I prefer to stay a member of Jesus Christ's church. You have little knowledge about Jesus Christ and certainly little about the Bible as well going by your previous posts.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You deny who Jesus Christ is, what He has done and what He shall do.I fear for you when He returns, know this whoever comes out of that door in Utah when the time comes is most definitely not the true Jesus Christ because He promised it wouldn't be a secret coming. Our Father,Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are God and God is One. Not three separate deities that became gods but the only true God and all my sins have been payed for upon the cross and I will be resurrected as He is.
lefthanofares 10 months ago

Does this mean you've never repented?
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish You can speak verbatim the letter of the law all you want and add to it which is a curse that shall be upon you. But you know not the Spirit of the law and the secrets within are kept hidden from you. If you live for another 20 years and realize you are just an empty shell, consider this I will never be an empty shell for my dead bones now live for the Holy Spirit has regenerated me and Christ lives within me and will never let me go, unless I were to decide to re-crucify Him.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Well too bad for you I ain't cursed. I do have the Holy Ghost with me. This is not something I just claim, this is something that's a fact. You're an empty shell right now. You can't claim you follow Christ while you continue to persecute his church.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish So your god is confined to the same physical limits of a human but just in a exalted body? He may have the powers to become more powerful but he is limited and needs you...like an idol. You see if there was ever full apostasy we wouldn't be here because God doesn't need us and isn't confined to rules but makes them according to His will for He is Holy and Sovereign and not confined by what we think of Him.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares Well you're definitely a part of the apostasy.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish It's not the trinity it's the triune nature of who God is. You should read some of what Justin Martyr wrote on it to know that just because paganism shares some of the same things you cannot write it off since it is evident throughout the Bible. I'm sorry but I don't think any Christian has ever had anything like blood atonement. Okay explain who Jesus Christ is since you know Him and tell me who God is explain since you are so knowledgeable. And I haven't apostasized from anything.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@lefthanofares No, the triune nature (aka trinity) isn't throughout the Bible. I know what verses people use and it's rather sad they feel those verses (such as John 1) support this trinity concept.
"And I haven't apostasized from anything."
Since you talked against Jesus Christ's church that makes you an apostate of Jesus Christ and his teachings.
I know exactly who Christ is and I know who God the Father is.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish Why have you not explained any doctrine to me? All you do is put out a verse from the Bible saying something vague and say you are right I have given you a verse several times and explained what it meant backing myself and all you do is claim you're right but avoid the issue. You know why because everything you do is something that is directly taught from another person claiming it's truth and you don't take the time to actually read it. I on the other hand just read and ask God.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares I did but you failed to listen. I went over marriage and explained what Matthew 22 says about that one particular case and also of Jesus' own words in John 10. You didn't back anything. Obviously you don't ask God because you don't have any understanding of what you read.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish What is atonement?
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@majinish Who is Jesus Christ? And who is God? What kind of love does God have for us and what are we called to have for others? Answer these three questions.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares The only true God is God the Father as Jesus said in a prayer. He is God of all. Jesus Christ is our Lord our God who is the Son of God. Your questions are kind of insulting. You act as if I do not know Christ, God the Father, or what the atonement is. I assure you I do. I know who they are, what the atonement is, and the fact that gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth.

@lefthanofares Let's reverse this. Who do you say Christ is? Who do you say God the Father is? If you decide to take scriptures out of context, again, I will correct you.
majinish 10 months ago
@majinish Jesus and His Father are One because it says in. Read John 1. Also if you read throughout John you will see them worshiping Jesus and He receives the worship. We see the same thing in Joshua 5:13-15 which is the pre-incarnate Word. They never worship and are never told to not worship in these places because He knows who He is. It also says if you have seen Jesus you have seen the Father.
lefthanofares 10 months ago
@lefthanofares You mean John 1:1? Yes, I know that verse by heart. Not exactly something that supports the false trinity doctrine but go ahead and think it does if you want.
majinish 10 months ago

ReadingRaven019 1 year ago
Nancy, why? why must you prove we aren't true? What drives you? It makes me mourn that you hate us so much to challenge everything we believe. not because i don't want to face the possibility that it might be false. because you are a child of god. He sheds tears for your soul. He loves you. I love you, but I know you probably won't listen to me. and that's what saddens me the most. That you won't even give us a chance. You've already made up your mind. I hope you find peace someday.

The law of consecration and caring for the poor was the focus of session two of the Mormon Theology Seminar focused on Sept. 10.
Two speakers at the conference held at Southern Virginia University addressed the law of consecration as laid out in Doctrine and Covenants 42,

In 1895 Roberts ran unsuccessfully for Congress. That campaign saw little of the controversy that would plague him a few years later. Sillito said that Roberts had some reason to hope that he might be elected and seated when he ran in 1898.

I'm back to work on - to finish -- two books, one on the Book of Mormon and one on religion and the Constitution.
These notes are from my adventures with the Book of Mormon at Yale.

@LatterDaySaint1029 lool its okay if you belive jesus came to america, there are people who believe that scientology is a real religion as well. when i actual fact they are both cults.
toastedkash 1 year ago
@toastedkash Word history of cult.
1610s, "worship," also "a particular form of worship," from Fr. culte (17c.), from L. cultus "care, labor; cultivation, culture; worship, reverence," originally "tended, cultivated," pp. of colere "to till" (see colony). Rare after 17c.; revived mid-19c. with reference to ancient or primitive rituals. Meaning "devotion to a person or thing" is from 1829.
Cult. An organized group of people, religious or not, with whom you disagree. [Rawson]
