The gearbox is a sequantial one with straight cogged gears. That's the reason for all that noise, the faster you go, how higher the tune ;) It's basicly the same noise as the reverse of your car, most of the reverse gears aren't synchronised and therefore straight cogged.

What's wrong with 4th gear? When the driver shifts it, you can hear a lot of noise and it looks like the gearbox is going to crumble soon.

if you don't want to lock the rear wheels you need to blip on the downshift.
