They have to know what they might be facing if they are ever captured knowing is half the battle my cousin says. They have both told me roughly what they went through and I would hate to ever use it but it is a rather safe and effective method of getting the intel you need quickly, it saves lives and is rarely used. The Geneva Convention applies to both International Conflicts, and Non-International Conflicts. It applies to uniformed combatants, and also non-uniformed combatants. So for example if there is a resistance or rebel movement in a country that is being occupied than the members of that movement are protected under the Geneva Convention. Go learn a little.
