  • LOL I LOVE how at the end they make it seem like "If you go to college YOU CAN BE THE PRESIDENT!" HAHAHAH...More like work at McDonalds. Stop glorifying college. If you're LUCKY you'll land a good job with a 4-year degree.

  • It's easy to look at the exception like Steve Jobs, etc and make it seem like college isn't worth it. But consider the millions who don't go to college and end up making much less. Student loan debt does suck, but with the correct planning the debt is very manageable.

  • Obama became a lawyer, kids that get sociology and philosphy degrees shouldn't borrow $120,000.

  • The numbers do lie because it costs 900% more to go to college now than just 30 years ago.

  • There is a huge difference between what you earn and what you keep. Just because you earn more doesnt necessarily mean you keep more. Cause if thats the case many people should be living well. But thats obviously not the case.

  • These statistics are very inaccurate. Some of the top earners, such as Bill gates, are used to calculate the average income potential of college graduates.

This is nothing more than an attempt from the college industry to say, 'Hey, take out a large loan and it will eventually pay itself back over time.'

I'm here to tell you folks, I don't have a college degree and I'm making $50,000+ a year and have no debt. While everyone I know with a bachelors $50,000+ in debt and making $10 an hour.

  • Keep pumping the hype that creating a new serf class for the overlords, you souless media cocksuckers.

  • the president did well cause he got book deal, that paid his and his wife's $120,000 debt, what about the rest of us who cant do that. this is an unfair propagandist report.

  • And they mention Obama and Michelle at the end! What?

  • this is why you ALWAYS need a "plan B"

    utilize all your talents!

  • gj reporting this a year after anyone else

  • Don't fall for this crap! We are going through an era of extremely significant credential inflation! The reason why people with bachelor's degrees make more is because a bachelor's degree is the new basic level of education required to get a job that's not in the service industry!

The problem is that most of these jobs DO NOT require any of the skills that you learn in college! The more people that go to university to get basic fucking work, them less valuable a degree becomes!

  • @sc0pl355

what good is with a 4-year degree if there is no good job to be had? all u can find is minimum wage job which you don't even need a degree or high school diploma. a friend of mine got a job working as secretary in a doctor office with a bachelor degree. gets pay 12 dollars an hour.

notice the reporter in the video cites 2008 stats. this is the year 2011 already.

  • @KhmerD0g Yeah, I'm with you man. America has been sold a bill of goods!

The issue is that your friend suffered from the credential inflation that I was talking about. The problem is that everybody is getting these degrees to try and find work. Employers will always choose a person with a degree over one without one. So, bachelor's degrees are the new high school diploma in reality. That's insanity!

  • @sc0pl355 Agree, when I got hire on, I used a few things I learned in school. Most of my learning was on job training. A lot of big companies want people with experience and that degree does not mean nothing standing alone. Internships and co-ops is where you get that experience. It's hard to get a job after college without those due to competition. Engineer at a major steel company plus an interviewer.

  • @chessloser28 Yes, but how do we convert back to things like on the job training and apprenticeships? I think that doing things that way is probably the best thing to do for the nation.

  • Of course if you become president you'll be able to pay off your student loan dept...BUT did they care to mention that Michelle Obama had to take some earnings from Barack's New York Times best-seller in order to pay off some of her remaining student loans???

  • I find it very strange to see a student with expensive boots, branded handbags & jeweleries all over their body having problem with student loans.

  • yeah right...every student will be president and first lady.

  • guys, i feel disguisted for this prices. i am sorry for you, i live in italy, i pay about 500 euro a year for university (mine is economics), if you are rich you pay more, and by more i mean you could pay a maximum of 1.500 euro a year. I have couple american friends that are coming to american university here in rome to study, and pay way less money then they pay in us, if im not mistaking it costs them like 10.000 for everything (since start till diplomation). think about it, come to europe !!

  • i love how they compares the average student to obama at he end. if he can do it. anyone can

  • In the Palination, all colleges and universities will be completely attended by women! Men will NOT be attending post-secondary education for men are INFERIOR! Student Loan debt will NOT be a problem in the Palination!

  • According to Suzy Orman an economist, do not attend school until you have a stable income first. With out a job, it all adds up and if you do not find work within 6 months of graduation, then you will be haunted by the collection agency. I recommend, going part time and on line to save money. But first get a job first, before going to school!

  • would those "economists" happen to be professors of those universities, and/or people that stand to gain from the student loan debt?

~18% of Americans are unemployed / underemployed, 47% of working Americans have full time jobs.

LOL. keep the serfs "investing" in the overpriced "education".

    psyops at its finest.

  • this is why education should be free, damn, its not fair.

  • Not too long ago UCLA cost $1200 a semester. Now everyone in the world wants to go there, it seems, so tuition rises. Look for tuition fees to go higher yet until only the world's rich can go there. Schools love that "rich" cultural diversity. Fewer Americans can afford medical school so that half of US physicians are now foreign-born. Just

so with other professions. The day is returning when only the world's rich can afford a proper education. US universities are an industry today.

  • MICROSOFT, APPLE, FACEBOOK, DELL, VIRGIN GROUP, RALPH LAURENT FOUNDERS / CEO ARE COLLEGE DROPOUTS. Makes you wonder.....

  • @windex1234

That will change when Palin becomes POTUS, all of those companies you mentioned will be headed up by WOMEN! Men are INFERIOR to women and should be slaves doing lowly menial labor.

  • @windex1234 and many many many many others. most of bilionair in the world never finished university

  • @windex1234

yes thats all true but they all came from parents of wealth and success who graduated from college.

  • The Way "Corporate America" treats their workers today, with such disrespect and ill-reguard, I wouldn't waste my time on any of em' ! I'd rather start a small business and I do mean small, than to go into deep debt for any of these Over-Glorified Colleges & Universities - its all a smoke & mirrors game people - anything to get your money or get you to borrow money to give to them or get you to sign up for Grant money - its a scam !

  • This is the most misleading video defending college loans... Yes loans are good and pay off for many in the long run, but for a lot of kids who drop out, or don't get the job they studied for right out of college, their college dept will be more than overwhelming. most 18 year old's don't know what they want at that age and making it so easy for them to take out such HUGE amounts of loans that ANY kid can get no matter what their skill level is at or their social standing is a FRAUD...

  • ...its a Fraud because they are obligated to pay every penny back (and some) no matter what... its not like credit card dept where you can get a fresh start from filing bankruptcy... the only reason its so easy to get student loans for any kid is because they will use Mafia tactics to get their money back, such as garnish your wages(even if you got stuck working at McDonalds) they take your social security, your income tax....

  • ...What needs to stop is the Easy-to-get-accepted colleges that are expensive offering unrealistic majors such as Dance major, music engineer, theatre, etc... yeah you'll make money if you go to Harvard, Julliard, But some hick town college out in the boondocks??? STOP making it so easy these kids to take out these loans they most likely know nothing about or should be qualified for........So many Colleges out their are the BIGGEST scam

  • @iMhike Yeah, you're right on this one. I watched a documentary on those schools. Those places are nothing but factories to milk government-backed student loans from us. Seriously, their tuitions were like $65k ten years ago. I'm afraid to see what they are today!

  • @iMhike Totally agree.......

  • Youtube : ABC 20/20 - College is a Rip Off

Watch that, then this one !

REMEMBER this : YOU CAN NOT FILE BANKRUPTCY with college debts.

  • FYI for students out there. another option is to go to community college for 1 or 2 years. take english 101, basic math, the stuff that's the same everywhere. take a couple courses in your major (save those for the better uni versions but try it out). that costs a fraction of Uni and you get your basic generic courses for much less.

also, if you keep your grades up, transferring is *much* easier than freshman year. they know you will do well and not drop out, plus lots of grants/scholarships

  • I HATE DEBT! They own you!

  • I get loans cuz its free mula to me lol

  • Uh, actually, while it's true it's a good investment to loan for college students are being ripped off largely by the schools they attend and government programs designed to assume debt for people who have gone to school. Schools can charge more because students don't give a rat's ass and are banking on them assuming whatever debt needed to attend a 'good school'.

  • haha If you can't get scholarship to a 50k-80k school than why go to it? it is that simple (unless it's law school or medical school)

  • I admire the President and his wife for being able to pay off their debt. I am still paying on my loans, even though I was in college during the Reagan administration! It took years to land that job that I really wanted and needed, so nothing's changed from the 80's until now. Was it worth the expense? Over a long period of time, the benefits show more and more, especially when you gain experience in your field of education and are able to show mastery, competence and skill.

  • the number one fuckup is the president telling these kids to go to college the economy won't even hire their ass to pay it off.

  • Yeah Obama has done pretty good....at ruining our country

  • @thepolice911copeland Blame others for your choices....that's the spirit.

  • @windex1234 Yeah obamacare, climbing deficits, staying in Iraq when he promised not to, and the gulf oil rig disaster have nothing to do with me

  • Going to these Over-Glorified Colleges and Universities is no longer about education - its about money for these ridlicious colleges & universities - anybody who gets into deby 40 50 or even 80 thosand dollars is Naive and a fool ! Its all smoke & Mirrors people a game - ad their banking your Naive & ignorant enough to fall victim to the Rhetoric and BS ~!!!!

  • @JetRanger0007 If you've seen the "Inside Job" you'd also know that the top colleges and universities are all bought and paid for by lobbyists.

  • @xitongzou

um.. Inside Job showed that economics profs at prestigious and trusted institutions (eg Harvard) were being given very lucrative deals to write papers supporting deregulation and other wall street goals. that's horrible and unethical on its own but doesn't say lobbyists bought schools, just select profs.

imho when money was flush they spent on research and other projects. now that the money is drying up they are shorting the students and raising tuition. silly business decisions.

  • @JetRanger0007 Yes, your right it's lucky the one's that make it big. Not everyone is going to make it.
