  • I BELIEVE IN ONE LOVE

  • Its really upsetting knowing people are so deaf to understand these form of music what a song

  • makes me very sad to watch such a performace and compare it towards to todays music and yet people say this music is horrible atleast it had a bit of soul and heart in it

  • d'arcy..... miss u

  • billy has the coolest voice ever

  • Am I only one who thinks that this song's vocal delivery at times sounds a little like Pearl Jam's "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town"? Maybe it's just me. Gotta love them Pumpkins!!!

  • @EyesofEstranged It's just you.

  • @thetheRedundant Well thanks for clearling that up dude. Thought I was going crazy there for a second :p

  • oooohhhhh. I Believe..... ya... One love!!!

  • oooooooooooohhhhhh. I Believe.... One love

  • I think it's funny that people say Billy Corgan has changed a lot. This song proves that he hasn't changed all that much because it sounds like a song from Peach Peel Residency or The Fillmore Residency.

  • dang james can sing, why did they make darcy sing so much as a harmony to billy later on?

  • awww i miss old school billy corgan, god he was so sexy.

i must've listend to this song 100 times when it came out :)

  • awww i miss old school billy corgan, god he was so sexy.

  • The two dislikes better have accidently hit dislike instead of like. If you don;t like this song there is something wrong with you.

  • Та хуй вам/там-Нірвана вирвала величезний шматок.

Та власне,вона нічого ні рвала,але але...

    Слава білим братам.

  • <3 this - and to the girls named after this song - your parents are awesome... i am old enough to be your mom and always loved this name - i had a goldfish in college named glynis - prob around the time u were born - very touching

  • and this is where i got my name. <3

    you hear it NO WHERE.

so i'm proud to be named after a kick ass band,

    just sayin',

  • ask your parents if they were big smashing pumpkins fans... maybe that's the genesis of your name?

  • funny story, I found a Cat and named it Glynis after this song... a few months go by and find out the cat is actually a male.... Glynis changes into Guiness very easily

Great song, I'm glad I was able to track down a copy of the No Alternative CD. I wish more SP fans knew about this song though I know the good ones do.

  • AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is one of their best songs. Period. Of course their list of great songs is long, but this is one of them.

  • Whenever I feel sad, I watch this video and it cheers me up sooooo sososo much! Hurrah for Billy!

  • I love the guitar sound on this one, and the co-singing of Iha! Not to mention Billy's fantastic "1988 to 1995" voice... I miss that early pumpkins voice.. I guess after 20 years of singing and touring, his voice isnt what it used to be... I still love you billy;) You're a hell of a songwriter and performer! Jimmy the Drum Machine, plug and play! More Complex pleaseeeeee!

  • Love this song hard to find correct tabs though

  • That mildly funky guitar towards the end is so unexpected and lovely. Billy makes me desire paisly.

  • Easily in the top 10 best songs Billy has ever written!

  • What a performance by Billy!

  • I love this song! I wish I had this on record. very easy on the ears.

  • @MrNoWhereMan1965

there's a studio version on the rarities & bsides collection

  • @williampatrickcorgan I have it. but the sound quality sucks! great song though. Love the Bass. light and the dark.

  • @MrNoWhereMan1965 This song is recorded, and you find it on Spotify!

  • Nobody ever forgets me...I am GLYNIS!!!...lol...wow..how funny

  • this song is also on the rarities and bsides cds... it's also easily up for grabs on itunes, so yeah

  • THE Smashing Pumpkins

  • From which album is this song?

  • @Invidente7 the song Glynis was only officially released on a compilation called No Alternative. I saw the CD once in a used record shop. I think there was a VHS tape too, but I could be wrong

  • @dubconcrete Just bought that yesterday at Salvation Army! Quite a find, I'd say.

  • @Invidente7 No Alternative

  • mellow masterpiece!

  • I always loved the main melody to this song. Something about it always puts me in a good mood and reminds me of my fellow pumpkin heads when we were younger. Not a care in the world. Just what polyester blend shirt and brown grandpa slacks to wear with airwalks or chucks were the only worries.

  • billy terribly missed that high note at the end.

  • Amazing song ; ) The era where the pumpkins were on top of the world

  • God...I just love them.

  • haha this is so weird since my name is Glynis =] <3 I feel like they're singing to me lol

  • beautiful song, this may be an even better version than the No Alternative CD! Amazing, the youth in Billy's face...

  • yea but zwan we,re shit

  • I love glynis!

  • hey i know someone named Glynis

  • I'll agree that it's one of the best acoustic performances on youtube, but there are many just as worthy of that title...

Like this one: "Gregg Allman - Come and Go Blues". Check it out!

  • does anyone have the studio version of glynis? please put it up if you do. it use to be on here but its gone now, its much more humble sounding then the live version

  • I just added the studio version to my channel. :)

  • James Iha's vocal sound beautiful. I miss that motherfucker.

  • "YOU MADE ME BREAK CHARACTER!"

    -Kurt Cobain v2.01

  • I am posting a comment BEFORE watching this vid as a disclaimer: am being forced to watch it by a straight boy who says, "OMG, there is this part in this vid, where I WOULD fuck him. Right before the end refrain..."

    -Veronica Grey on Billy Corgan

  • Another great voice of the 90's

  • James iha's voice helps this song to be absolutely perfect Too!!

  • This is the best song and it's al about me

  • Great song, my favourite since i know it.

    [It's:

"And with these tears of regret"

    in the third line]

  • So beautiful, personally I think billy is the best songwriter of the 90s. He can make a great fuckin heavy song and can also make the greatest mellow song ever.

  • @billycorgan1967

I agree.....its pretty much my favorite stuff of all time his 90s stuff....listen to his first few albums daily and i think billys the most creative and artistic artist songwriter of his time wow what great stuff!!!!

  • @billycorgan1967 not only of the 90s ... truly the very best

  • @billycorgan1967

cmon man lol, they're good but that's a ludicrous statement.

  • wow

  • i d thought u d like... the pumpkins had such a different sound all throughout their existence- no song or album sounded the same- yet it was all AWESOME

  • John Frusciante is better, but I loved the Pumpkins first :p

  • PERFECT!

  • 3rd line, its Tears of Regret, not Tears of Respect.

  • wow, theres like 3 octaves throughout this song. Billy's voice used to be so versatile

  • Naouw, this is how they are supposed to sound.

  • Wow, never heard Billy's voice go so high

  • Ok.... My name is Glynis.... and i never hear it or see it and everyone says Glenis so it feels soooooooo wierdd to hear it

    A) said correctly

    B) In a song

    C) At all!

I love this song!! And I'm 12 so thats saying something!! LOLZ!!

  • cool ;) u should check out more of smashing pumpkins. they're a great band

  • @716glynis are your parent's pumpkins fans? lol

  • @716glynis nice to meet you, Glynis

  • @716glynis Yep, feeling the same way. Everyone calls me Glenis, so its really weird to hear it said right and in a song :) Im 13 and i love it too :)

  • @qwinkly

    hello .. I can`t find it

  • This is so amazing- i had forgotten how awesome this version & video was- a great song- love Billys vocals on it :)

  • this is one of those songs, huh dude.

  • nice billy vocals at the end

  • in the sand...sound system with good bass is the way to listen

  • This song breaks my heart.

  • Great tune, and a flawless performance.

  • "Gish" and "Siamese Dream" were perfect albums. "Mellon Collie" should have been one disc and everything after that has been complete and total garbage. I was in high school during the good days of alternative music, it sure has gone down hill across the board since then.

  • This song always gets stuck in my head after hearing it. <3 it!

  • 0_o i dont know one song from gish that sounds the same to any song on siamese man. dont know what your listening to. but that must be the weirdest comment about that rea. i mean yes billy corgan has wrote some songs that sounds like another but not in that era

  • I'm talking about the ERA not just the albums, man.

Listen to Pisces Iscariot and there are TONS of songs that sound like they belong on Siamese Dream. Starla, Plume, and a just about every one of the others. These songs came from the Gish/SD era. That's what I'm talking about.

Drown sounds like it should have been on SD.

I'm talking about the B-sides and so forth. Gish is a very special album with a very unique style.

It makes Siamese Dream look lame.

  • pre-gish was pretty unique also.. at least to me

  • May be the best song ever!

Glynis is a very nice name and very cool for it is uniqe.

    Long live Bill,Jimmy,James,and Darcy.

  • @SMASHINGPUMPKINSart

Haha, Glynis is a nice name - once you get off the playground that is ! It was murder in elementary and junior high school. As for unique, I used to think so, but now with FB, I have found, and amassed over 220 Glynises into a special club.

  • very SD sounding

  • What's the story behind this song?

  • yes, i'd like to know as well

  • Glynis was the bass player in Chicago band Red Red Meat. She contracted HIV at some point and eventually got sick with AIDS. My bandmate Ken was her lover during that time. I heard Glynis' family was very Christian and they refused to believe she was so sick or thought religion would save her. Hence, "bury your head in the sand." I don't think she got any treatment until the very end. I think the song was trying to address people's responses to her death, especially in the Chicago music scene.

  • @trnsnd

Sad story, but RRM was and still is an amazing band! RRM and the Pumpkins toured together briefly in 1993-1994. Love the Pumpkins, but RRM was far superior and the current Califone has even surpassed that.

  • Great great song!

I much prefer this live version to the one on the no alternative album... its more stripped down but somehow more full and emotional, it really lets the song shine. SP rule

  • I was in a band with one of Glynis' former boyfriends when this song came out (the scarecrow reference was to a former band of his). Within a few months he was dead. We didn't even know that he was dying at the time. :-( If AZT had been widely available at the time, both he and Glynis probably would have lived a lot longer. I remember hearing this song on the radio right before he died. Little did I know that the story was about to touch my own life. God bless you, Ken. RIP.

  • Note the MTV dancers in the background, not as extreme as "The Word" Dancers in the UK.

  • fuckin beautiful

  • oh my god, he cracks me ut , defently at the end with the helium voice, billys a god, and SP is a religion ! Long live the Pumpkins !

  • oh, my goodness. no wonder why the smashing pumpkins are my favorite band of all time.

  • Man this version is way better. Some of their best stuff.

  • Billy looks so wholesome here! It's difficult to believe that the psycho hellraiser lord of pain look from the Adore years is the same bloke.

    Great song!

  • Glynis is a lovely name and unusual, better than all the names girls get today. Be proud of it.

  • Hey my name is Glynis!

It's like he is singing for me x)

    haha lol

    x

  • @Glynis93 I'm a Glynis, too ! Have you found The Glynis Club on FB yet? 220 Glynises from all over the world so far !

  • such a beautiful song

    i love it so much

  • such a beautiful song

    i love it so much

  • this is a terrific song.

  • Billy, James, D'Arcy and Jimmy... what unbelieveable chemistry together!

  • They hated each other and were on the brink of breaking up. So I hope that was sarcastic.

  • So did the members of Fleetwood Mac, Heart and many other bands... still doesn't change the fact they were great together! Other versions of the band without D'Arcy, Jimmy or James show that lack of chemistry, no sarcasm intended.

  • spot on.

  • lol, my name is glynis. I was named after this song

  • I didn't know Billy could get his voice that high. Sounds cool though.

  • the guitar melody to this song is the same as............... "sheets of empty canves..."

but its still i great song!

  • I've never heard a Pumpkins song that I didn't like. This song is no exception. :)

  • Very cool stuff! These guys set it off.

  • wow... this song hits me every time i hear it... even more so since my name is glynis

  • You da man for posting this. I don't think I've seen this video since the early 90's, probably 94. Awesome, I love 90's indie music. It was the best. All the stuff now blows on all fours.

  • check out the random people gyrating behind james at :33 seconds.

  • legends lol....nothing like some random gyration! =D

This is a beautiful version of glynis.. thanks uploader!

  • lmao!

  • lol good call

  • So good...

  • too awesome

  • this song is wonderful. the story behind it is not. it's terribly sad, in fact. : (

    but a beautiful ode.

  • this is a beautiful video

its a lil weird though seeing billy with hair, and also weird seeing darcy in this video..she looks normal

  • ohh one of my favourite pumpkins song, so sad ... but yet so pretty.

  • maybe his best song. obscured, today, here is no why, girl with the cruel face [zwan] are other faves of mine.

  • I thought he was cool when he was bald though it seemed so dark and everything.. but it wasn't cool when pumpkins weren't around.

  • This song was written after red red meat's bass player died of AIDS. "No Alternative" was an AIDS awareness campaign. Amazing song..

  • SHUT UP DOMO!!!!

  • He was balding, so he shaved his hair, that's all. You can see his receding hairline on some Mellon Collie-era photos. He went goth from that point...

  • It's about the girl from Red Red Meat who died of AIDS. It is a very beautiful song. I'm guessing this is a song that could've been on Siamese Dream or something.

  • It's just part of his evolution: first he had long hair (very grunge), then the school-boy parting (very emo) and then he had no hair what-so-ever (very goth). And his music styles followed...or vise bursa.

  • shhhh

  • Oohh.. Wow. Man.. so many people are getting cancer... they need to find a cure for that.

  • BILLY LOOKS NORMAL, I asked this in another group, but I want to see which one responds to me sooner. WHY DID HE GO BALD? Was it his choice, or was their a problem?

  • if you watch one of the specials (i can't remember the name it may be the icons one) on the pumpkins he talks about how everyone in his family lost his hair at an early age so he just decided to embrace baldness and shave his head. and it wasn't cancer.. haha

  • Yeah.. a common problem called male pattern baldness.

  • yeah if you check out his hair as time goes on he has a huge receding hairline, he prolly just thought stuff it all or nothing.

  • jimmy's awsome, darcy looks hot in that one! so does james, i love james.and i love billy with hair, so thanks for posting that!

  • thank you i've never heard this song, than you very much

  • corgan= one of the few who perform as good or better live than in studio- deep music for the soul all of it is

  • I love seeing this. I used to have it on videotape years ago with a bunch of other Pumpkins stuff. One of their best peformances for sure. :)

  • One of my favourite Pumpkins tracks, and sadly not that well known ... Great to see them actually performing it.

  • very nice. brings back memories...
