GTA III, GTA Vice City, San Andreas and IV are all diffrent games. They were released in this order: GTA 1, GTA 2, GTA III, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, GTA Liberty City Stories, GTA Vice City Stories, GTA IV. All games from GTA III to GTA: VCS are all part of the same story. In GTA IV, nothing that happend before... happend.

Cronologicly (In order of time piriod), its:

GTA: VCS, GTA: VC, GTA: SA, GTA: LCS, GTA: III.
