This was amazing! Awesome!! Stanley Clarke is the man and the best bass player to ever live!!! Armand is "lightning" quick!!! I would have Love to see Louis Johnson in there with them. That would be an all-time best of bass player getting together! Stanley is so unselfish, if it were not for stanley clarke the world would not know Armand!!! Thank you Stan for all the years of excelence!!!
TokyoEagle......One billion thank yous.... from me ! Love it!!! Armand is definitely influenced by Marcus Miller and Stanley - listen to the signature licks .......
you're absolutely right man. Felix is a monster drummer. the guy is a living showman, played with Sade, Peter Gabriel, Manu Dibango, Shawn Lane etc etc etc
Armand is exactly the same on bass. Man cameroonians bassplayers are blessed
Nice to see this video again i taped the compilation of it at that time. Now that i here it again, Armand has got an unbelievable time in his playin awesome !!!!
I have been to Cameroon myself for quite a number of times. This guy must have originated from a very fortunate family. Nevertheless, he's extremely fonky......yeah! Go and funk us all.
I like Stanle Clarke's glasses! The bass playing was ok too...lol kidding. That was amaaaaazing. I like what Stanle does at 3:48 and afterward, sounds brilliant.
I happen to have a few of Wooten's CD's. However, I have more material with QUALITY bass playing on it that Armand Sabal Lecco plays on.
Lecco plays with a more rhythmic African feel, which is why most of you can't understand what he's doing. Go listen to something else than that mainstream Wooten crap before trying to say what you don't know about...
way better is a stretch, Armand has that soul, and wow! the first time I heard him I got chills. But victor has a different kind of style, which also has emotion and feel
fuck one more to clear things up since youtube doesnt let me delete posts, sry, but wen i said previous post in the last post i made i meant my first post
so sorry apple 0192, i thought the previous post i made got deleted i still dont think ur right with the 80% of the time grooving thing, but just with less harshness, that was all directed toward kazamamaster, who thinks wooten cant groove
he's good! Really good but not to diss the guy (because he is probably twice as good as me) but idk..his slap felt awkward..for me anyways..I love the tone he is getting from those strings anyone know what brand they might be?
Akward? Man you need to listen to more worldly musicians...Armand Sabal Lecco is one of the greatest bassists to hardly be known. He's actually done much work on the reknown albums Mistura Fina and Another World by Patitucci. Lecco is a monster on bass.....BTW, the bass he uses on this gets that tone, it's not the strings..
hey listen the man is great, but I've played/gotten lessons with alot of bass players in my time Victor, Marcus, Stanley, Michael Manring, Flea, (along with other amazing musicians such as Beal and Tony Trischka) and thats just to name a few. He just seems awkward with his slap pattern is all, and thank you for informing me about the bass and I would say it might be more of the amp if anything (depending on brand).
His pattern isn't awkward. It's his rhythyms that you might not be accustommed to. Check out East River Drive by Clarke. Lecco plays some sick stuff on that Cd..Anyways, the bass is a MusicMan Sabre. Amp SWR 4 x 10
all I'm saying is that 80% of the time he's got it in the pocket and then he gets too wrapped up in flash that he forgets to groove sometimes and that just creates awkward feel such 2:18 to 2:35 feels awkward at some points because he's not feeling with the drummer he's in his own little world recovers at 3:05 and makes it really groovin but once agains goes into something awkward at 3:17-:24 Its fancy but not lockin, and when I said he was twice as good as me that was modesty.
Groove? Man please don't bring up groove and say you've taken lessons from Wooten. Wooten does not groove by any means.
Lecco grooves much harder than Wooten. You don't play bass with John Patitucci not grooving. Another World was grammy nominated for the writing which I think Lecco did/played one.
saying wooten doesnt groove is like saying page cant solo you shmuck, fuck off. you obviously never listen to wooten and just take him for some show offy fuck, which he isnt
listen to some flecktones, or him in the current line up in chick coreas electric band, that mother fucker grooves harder than ur mom did last night
it's not the bass he uses to get that tone, it's his fingers and the notes he chooses to play. If you had that bass I'm sure you'd have tone nowhere near his
I was backstage about to barf a kidney cause I had to go onstage right after this!!!!! hahaha! Don't know how I survived!!! One of my best musical experiences ever!!! Stanley is still the MAN!!!!
