ok if i can barely control my 2wd slash with a c.c mamba max pro with proper gearing doing about 45 maybe 50. What makes traxxas think i control a car doing a bill. kinda dumb traxxas but whatever. ill just do a bill in my car....
Speed is fine, off road is fine. After you buy a "kit" made for general audiances, you need to decide about what you want to do with it and set it up accrodingly. You can have whatever you want with the proper tuning.
i have 2 jato's and four t-maxx . i like the jato for high speed runs in a parking lot or parks. the t-maxx's are made for bashing, hills, and jumps. the t-maxx motors are axial .32 , picco .26 , and 3.3' and the jato's 3.3. the gearing are all different. now as for as the xo-1 , well , i'm kinda worried it will end up in the wrong hands being 1/7 scale. i am happy with my trucks and drive them with care( as for bystanders and property) but have alot of fun with them. i think 70mph is plenty IMO
I believe that kits should have hi speed and off road gearing options that come with the kits and if the rc is capable of doing hi speed runs of 70-85mph then the motors/engines would be able to bash at a higher speed without over heating. But out of the box the kits should be geared at 40-50mph for safety of new rc owners. Also a Big block revo and E-jato with drivetrains that can handle the power would be nice. Because i have a E-jato with a tekin 2250 and its one of my best RC's.
I thought I liked the idea of fast rc so got a vorza and ran it on 6s lipo, soon found myself back at the shop buying a couple of 2s batteries!! It's fun to have the speed, but it soon gets boring flying up and down the car park. I prefer about 40mph and some serious off road fun.
I think the XO-1 is an absolutely awesome vehicle, but on the same token i think it was a horrible idea, i guarantee some spoiled little rich kid, with absolutely no experience with R/C what so ever is gonna go ask daddy for this car and he is going to buy it for him, and little billy is going to run it full bore down the cul-de-sac where he lives at 100MPH and end up hitting some little kid and breaking both of his/her legs
Rc Madness is my local rc store. I've seen the electric conversion baja 5t in action and its a life changer. The truck is ridiculous. It has the same amount of spunk as any smaller scale truck and is just an amazing thing to watch.
as far as a revo type chassis it should go maybe to 60mph but not out of the box, you should get it going 30mph or so and can be increased with better batteries. additionally you should be able to flick a switch on the controller changing it from a 40mph kit to a 60mph kit or have longer trigger pull than normal with a click to go to the second speed set, allowing you to control yourself at a lower speed with 6s but still having the ability to kick it down when you need it.
@ole720 it would be interesting to get more torque out of the box rather than speed. as far as coming fully able to run that speed, it should, my major gripe with the revo is that slapping lipos in it with the stock tires and drive train the tires rip apart and the drive shafts snap.
I really like to impress my friends when my slash 4x4 goes 40 and they are like OMG that is amazing. But then 3 seconds later I will slow down and go 25 and slower around my back yard. Then next day throw on some race tires and go kick some ass. So in this story I have only gone above 30 mph once and that was for 2 pases. Yea I like it when I can hall some ass but not spend $300+ on just somthing for speed runs (besides my boat). It's cool but as Cartmen would say "Stupid Jew!!!"
i just ordered my x0-1, an i also have a fast brushless e revo an rustler. but i have a e maxx to bash with a rc8be that i use at the track an a host of other rc cars an trucks. i guess it depends on what you are using it for. an you always have the option to gear don or up.
i got an E-REVO then put a 2200kv mamba monster in it, after a month or so i got lipos for it now it does 80+ and it is awesome until i break a drive shaft, which happens almost every time i drive it. do you have any suggestions to help with the drive shaft problem other than going slow, because if i have the power i want to use it.
I just want a truck that can give me a challenge to race on the highway. thats about 150-160...
haha just kidding. i think anything over 100 is just ridiculous and 65 is a good top speed for a fast truck. You wont always drive at that speed, but you can once in a while for a race or just to show off to your friends.
@Squirrelod they also got the stampede 4x4 right. look at what it can becomeby watching URC's Jang's shapeshifter vids. i own one as well and plan on making it a truggy so it will crush it on the race track.
Traxxas didn't have a full speed oriented rc. I believe multi-functionality in rc cars is what attracts the beginners, bashers, and people who don't want or can't have a few rcs. It's nice to know that you aren't fully committed to a specific rc branch. Maybe this is a new step for Traxxas where purely oriented cars are open to the experienced driver. Training wheels out of the box should exist with controllable speeds then the choice to go to higher speeds with provided gearing is theirs.
Not sure if anybody has said this, but the 60 mph lock is supposedly built into the Tx/Rx... So switching to something else like a FS-GT3B would unlock it.
Speed is to much when your tires disintegrate at full throttle. Also when you break stuff just from speed like top of the line gear boxs etc then maybe slow it down a bit. lol.
@YellowDB 1st, my remark applies to RTRs (which are usually entry level). 2nd, the Rustler and Slash DO have racing classes to compete in (Truggy and SCT). They are not exclusively bashers (though that is what they are best at). Regarding R/Cs without a class to race in, 13.5T and 17.5T setups provide ample speed for 1/10 scale bashing. Higher speeds can be reached by increasing the voltage and gearing. What standardization does is give customers the option to bash and/or race out of the box.
speed is overrated. once you get to a certain speed it becomes a waist of money. it's uncontrollable and unrealistic. the xl1 is fine, it was designed to be a fast on road race car. 100mph rustlers are just dumb.
For me and the area I can run the speed of Sixty is plenty. anything faster than that will be dangerous to others, For example a Summit/ERevo that goes sixty is plenty fast. At that speed it has a lot of potential to cause injury to bystanders.
I have always wanted a proper 1/8, or slightly larger, Revo, still a 1/10, to better handle the ridiculous power of a 4S BL-Revo.
As for speed, for RL supercars hitting 200+mph is no big deal. Now it's come to how fast they can keep going, which floats about 170-180mph, this would include handling. The same for RCs. Rather than just the fastest of them all, "how fast that can keep going?"
@DocWolph The Revo is a 1.10 scale. Do u own an RC car? Matter of fact have u seen a Revo in person compared to 1.10 scale? Truely u dont have experience behind your statements, and go argue with folks on Youtube like u think u do.
@TheABSoLooT1 Excuse yourself, punk. I may have misworded and I won't lie about it. If you didn't get it, it's still no reason to pick a fight over it. The Revo is a size, maybe a size and half too small. There is fast and then there's damn near out of control. The kind of power the Revo can handle demands a bit more length and width to handle it in a confident manner. Like a proper racer, as Traxxas at least pretends the Revo is, should.
i think having a couple cars in a line up that will do those insane speeds is great, but lets face it, who needs more than 65mph doing OFF-ROAD bashing? no one. a 4x4 stampede on 3s with the optional pinion is too fast for off road, you cant just turn it over to your friend and say, have at it, because they will hurt someone. my girlfriend almost broke my ankle with her xl-5 rustler,
these insane speeds are good to be availabe, but not needed, 50-70mph is plenty fast!
Love to see traxxas come out with a big block Revo. XO-1 looks awesome when you hit those high speed it sound like a jet passing by. Hope one day to add to my collection.
i will admit as great as speed is its not any fun if the vehicle cant keep traction and if you cant keep traction racing wont be fun I personally have 3 race vehicles T4, B44, and 18t All are very capable of maintaining high speeds, but since winning racing is mostly about consistancy and not to much speed i had to detune my vehicles so i wouldnt spin out from the excessive speed Ever since the detunes lap times increase as well as fun level SO to some it up speed is great but control wins races
when i had 1/16 e revo it went about 75mph with my 3 cell 1500 lipo it was dumb fast in all wanted domy e-revo vxl did 75mph with 3cell lipo 1500 2's in dumb fast in the new traxx car with app i wont go in get car for $ 1,500 i would get 1/5 for that price maybe with 32cc gas motor maybe
I am in full agreement with you Squirrel, the idea of a fast RC is nice, but only in the right application. I believe that the offroad side, while still should be fast, should not be too fast. On the side of the pavement pounders, speed is a sweet thing, but there should still be a few models out there for beginners to learn on. I love my E-Maxx, and I would be more than thrilled to get 40 MPH outta it, and being that I love to take it through the dirt, well it's enough for me.
Personaly i like power but not, torque but not high speed power whitch is why i like my baja and savages more than my revos... and i would love Traxxas to produce a 5th scale.
One thing people seem to forget about speed, is people actually drag race their rc's. Every big city in the US probably has rc drag racing events where an xo1 would be right at home.
I think we all want as much speed as possible in a hobby grade kit. But the faster you go the less control you have. So if you want to do more then travel in a straight line your gonna have a speed limit. I would say max speed is a kit by kit limit as to what that kit can handle before it becomes slip and slide driving. Speed and control are trade-offs, so trying to find the best balance is the real challenge and not just going as fast as possible. I worry about traction more than speed.
Thanks for the shout out lol yes i am a speed junkie!!! i feel like no matter what i use i want it fast i would even like a speedy crawler thats just me....being rational though i dont think everything needs speed out the box that takes away from the fun of mods!!
Going with the brushed remark... why even keep the brushed versions except for 'entry into the hobby'? With many kits becoming brushless as an RTR and only costing roughly $50-$70 more than the brushed version. (ie SC10 brushed $230 and brushless 13.5T $270-$300).
Also shouldn't RTR kits of the same class come with the same motor speed, that most tracks are running for entry level classes. so for example with 1/10th scale: TC: 13.5T, 2wd Buggies: 13.5T, SCT 17.5T?
@NghtFox17XBL but what about the people who like to bash if all the 1/10th scale are track spec then people who are new to trhe hobby have to go out and spend more money so they can bash it(not saying people dont bash track spec rcs) but that removes part of the fun of kits like the slash, rustler, exoterra and kits like those
First I like that you are asking for comments for CWN that's really cool !!!! and second I would have to agree a RTR should not be the fastest thing out there its just asking for trouble now as far as going fast maybe include a good cheat sheet on getting up to 100 mph or so would be ok . And 3rd a 100mph slash 4x4 would be cool til you hit something !
@bashslash1971 Ive always asked for replies before the show but have solicited them on the forum and FB page. I am just extending it to the YT family as well =)
who cares about first or second comment those arent realy comment they are just stupid remarks and to the subject i thin 35mph is good and 40mph is pushing it. like cullenburchartz said let the person get used to the kit out of the box and in the furture upgrade either the kit or get a different kit but traxxas did have a good idea with the XO-1 with the price and the skill level they made it so a beginner to the rc world wont go out and get the XO-1 for their first kit and start causing havok
@YellowDB because the kit is too fast for he or she brands like redcat and exceed are perfect for speed and they are cheap... yea they may break more often and parts are cheap but that will hopefuly teach the person to respect the kit more and become more carefull with the kit and with the surroundings that the person is running the kit in.
Why do people care about the "out of the box" speed? anything under 45 mph is good for me. Speed will be nothing if you have no control over the kit. Where on earth would you go to use that stupid X01 to get up to 100mph?
@GetBlitzified Typically this is newer people in the hobby, they want that speed RC. So, they will request and modify a Rustler (yt search them) so that they go 130mph which will spawn other projects for speed.
Who wants them? A segment of the community does. Im just wondering on what others feel.
@GetBlitzified Where on earth would you take a real Ferrari up to it's top speed? You don't always have to drive it at 100 mph, it's just nice to know that speed is there. Also, in Europe 5th scale road racing is really big. So there are lots of race tracks you can take them to.
one request...do not blow it out of proportion so the governments will put a limit on rc cars just like they did it with real cars and bikes..........
I think 60 kph is fast enough for a rtr kit, let the person figure that out first and then upgrade the rig to go faster if they want, having a ridiculously fast rtr right out of the box creates a really steep learning curve, making you break more parts and spending less time actually driving it around.
ok if i can barely control my 2wd slash with a c.c mamba max pro with proper gearing doing about 45 maybe 50. What makes traxxas think i control a car doing a bill. kinda dumb traxxas but whatever. ill just do a bill in my car....

YellowDB 1 month ago
@YellowDB because the kit is too fast for he or she brands like redcat and exceed are perfect for speed and they are cheap... yea they may break more often and parts are cheap but that will hopefuly teach the person to respect the kit more and become more carefull with the kit and with the surroundings that the person is running the kit in.

@YellowDB I remove them (first and seconds).

i think 37 mph and include gears to beef it up
therccarmad 1 month ago
Why do people care about the "out of the box" speed? anything under 45 mph is good for me. Speed will be nothing if you have no control over the kit. Where on earth would you go to use that stupid X01 to get up to 100mph?
GetBlitzified 1 month ago
@GetBlitzified Typically this is newer people in the hobby, they want that speed RC. So, they will request and modify a Rustler (yt search them) so that they go 130mph which will spawn other projects for speed.
Who wants them? A segment of the community does. Im just wondering on what others feel.
Squirrelod 1 month ago
@GetBlitzified Where on earth would you take a real Ferrari up to it's top speed? You don't always have to drive it at 100 mph, it's just nice to know that speed is there. Also, in Europe 5th scale road racing is really big. So there are lots of race tracks you can take them to.
SpaceManDawn 1 month ago
@SpaceManDawn I agree =) There are tracks to take your Ferrari but how many are there really?
Squirrelod 1 month ago
one request...do not blow it out of proportion so the governments will put a limit on rc cars just like they did it with real cars and bikes..........

I dont get the joke where you said get it.

35MPH is good for me because im in a neighborhood with lots of kids.
620ILoveSoccer620 1 month ago
I think 60 kph is fast enough for a rtr kit, let the person figure that out first and then upgrade the rig to go faster if they want, having a ridiculously fast rtr right out of the box creates a really steep learning curve, making you break more parts and spending less time actually driving it around.
