@aparaajita10 It is true that Krishna kept saying that by Karma one becomes Kshatriya. But when Arjun calls Karna 'Sut putra' , Krishna forgets to say that Karna by his deeds is a Kshatriya. Hypocrisy prevails in that time as well.

Drona did not use his divine weapons on Ghatotkat because he wanted to make sure that karna did ot use his Indra shakti on Arjuna

So he made sure that Karna used it on Bhim's son.

Otherwise Karna would have used it on Arjuna.

That's not true, Karna was cursed by Parshuram that he would not have his teachings when he needed it the most, which was against Arjuna. So he would not have been able to call upon his weapon wether he had it or not. Peace

@symptl It is not mentioned any where that curse was applicable only once.It is said that Karna wont be able to use Parshurams power when he will be in need.He was in need this time.In short Parshurams weapons were useless for Karna.Drona should have used his divine weapons to kill Ghatotkach

@naangiarahul True, but then why didn't Drona use his Brahmastra on Ghatotkach? He is shown in the next episode to summon it. Not only did he not use it, but he was telling the Kauravas that a divyastra is needed to kill Ghatotkach, when he had one the entire time, not to mention it was reusable. You can't make an argument of lack of loyalty in this case, because Drona was willing to summon the Brahmastra even though Brahma and the Devas discouraged him. It is simply an issue of bad timing.

@symptl Yes it is one of many inconsistencies here. On the other hand, the Brahmastra is only used once in the whole war, by Ashwatthama. And he is cursed to live in eternal torment because of it. So we may deduce that it is a terrible weapon, not to be used lightly.

Incidentally, the Mahabharata says that Krishna doesn't just smile after Ghatotkacha is slain. He shouts and dances with joy!

As for Krishna's reaction, that may very well be true, but it was probably changed to make the show more tasteful.

@RebelSociety1 U r wrong. Due to Parshurams curse Karna would not have able to use the weapons or knowledge given by Parshuram. The Shakti astra was from Indra and he would have been able to use it on Arjun. Krishna himself was happy after the killing of Ghatotkach as he told that Arjun is safe now.

Something is illogical here; both aacharya Dron and Karn had Brahmastra but they did not use it on Ghatotkach. If Karn had used it on Ghatotkach, he could have used Indra's Shakti on Arjun later on.

I think Divya astra is not for such youdh's ...they are only for Manush kalyan. I think no one else had Divya astra; Bhisham Pitamah, Dronacharya and Ashvathama had Brahma astrya not divya astra.

Shakti is Indra's weapon that is not any Astra and hence can be used whenever required.

i dont think u've watched or read Mahabharat properly....Karna never lied to Parshuram....He was never aware that he was a Kshatriya....and he never told his guru that he was a "brahmin"....

Karna was brought up as a "sut putra"....son of a charioteer,a low caste ,not a brahmin....but his teacher Parshuram found out that he was a Kshatriya....even when Karna himself was not aware of that.....thats y he cursed him

so make ur knowledge and facts clear before making such comments

I didn't read Mahabharata but I did watch it. Please correct me if I'm wrong but it seems Parshuram thought he was a Brahmin. Either he assumed it so or karna told him so. I would like to know which one, if anyone knows please respond.

no one....not even karn himself knew his true identity when he was taught by Parshuram....didn't u see every1 calling him "sut putra"...."sut" is a charioteer who can never be a Brahmin,he was of a low caste or a shudra (similar to "sut")

Karna was good character and was good warrior but you cant say he was great person and was greatest warrior.

And moreover he was at the wrong end.

And he could have stopped his dear friend from going wrong, which he never did.

So please dont compare Karna with Arjun or anyone.

@zboy123 As I understand, Parashuram didn't care who Karn was as long as he was not a Kshatriya. Parashuram , a brahmin, Guru, took up arms & destroyed all the kshatriyas when they started exploiting the public instead of protecting them. High tolerance for pain is the hallmark trait of Kshatriya, or warrior. And Parashuram recognised it, though Karn was unaware of it.

the reason they are fighting after the sunset in because Gatochak (Bhima's Son) arrives and breaks the rule to terrify Duryodhan and his army and in Turn forcing Karna to use his Divine weapon to kill him. Krishna put Gatochak up to this task so Karna can't use his divine weapon on Arjuna and Instead uses it on Gatochak. Thus Arjuna is saved from the Divine wepaon given the God Indra to Karna.

I dunno if you heard "time" in the beginning of this episode. But "time" explains that before today once in a while rules were being broken but after Jaydrath's beheading of Arjun, neither side stopped fighting after sun set. This is when Bhim's Demon son joins the battle.
