I've noticed that nearly all (I'd estimate 90%) of outboards that I see in saltwater marinas (Florida, etc) are Yamaha. I rarely see any other brand of outboard being used. They must have a great saltwater engine.

Just a bit of information for MrOffshore, the cat that has set all these records is actually an ex offshore race boat that has had an extremely succesfull career and was based on a 28ft version of the same hull. This 28foot boat with Quad Mercs won the world championship for its class and was then shipped to the USA where in every rough water race it entered it came first with daylight a distant second so with modern machinery and rough seas nothing even in the US of A would stand a chance.

Nice video...lucky someone with some real equipment doesn't come down and put the whoop on them. They hold these records only because no one with a seriosly competitive boat has tried. Their speed averages are impressive for their equipment but not for the sea conditions...there are pleasure boats here in the US that could do some real record breaking down there.
