  • thank you guy in the red shirt

  • i am excited watching this if people see me they are going to think am crazy

  • 1:42 And we now hear the excited call of the very rare species of Yogcastians, the Dwarven Englishman, Simon.

  • Sorry, I always miss-type, bloody iPod keyboards!

  • I have noticed that some rather unfair comments have been made about Mr. Paolini and his stories, I found then quite food, but I did find some elements of Tolkien in his stories, he must have had inspiration from Tolkien, hell, I am a writer, and I got my inspiration for my Story from Tolkien, but there is many parts of the story like the meeting of the Silver Fox, the kidnapping of the Wolf cubs and the Destruction of the Castle Dagasta, all this is mine, and J have made a mythological history

  • I love how all I see in the comments is narsedax posing over a book :/

  • he came to my school and did a cartwheel. dat nigga cray

  • Anyone else think Narsedax is a total douchehat and that Inheritance is going to keep you locked in your house for days?

  • @JesusSuarUs yea man i love how he goes on and on about all this bull that no-one cares about then his best example of how its taken from Tolkien is "like the elves coming over the sea" haha!

  • @SirBluntman500 Fine. You want a better example of Paolini stealing from Tolkien.......in the first few pages of Eldest, one of the Varden is named Elessari. This name isn't mentioned much if at all in the LOTR movies, but in the books Elessar is the name given to Aragorn. It means Elf Stone. Tolkien made that name half a century ago, and it is just one of the many names Paolini has taken and added one or two letters and then calls it his own.

  • @SirBluntman500 If you knew anything about Tokien's works, you would know that the Elves coming from over the Western Sea is probably the biggest plot line in his books. And it is clearly why Tolkien decided to steal it for his own.

  • who the hell did dislike this, and why? o.o'

  • PAOLINI FOREVER!

  • this is the best series... and brisingr is my favorite book of all time.. SO AMAZING

  • WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOO eragon was the best book.

  • He must be one proud man to finally finish an astonishing series. But that kind of has to wait until Inheritance releases in November :-)

  • WHOOO! BOOK 4 OF THE INHERITANCE CYCLE IS COMING OUT NOVEMEBER 8TH!!!!!!!!! AND ITS CALLED INHERITANCE

  • I love this man, <3

  • when does the fourth book come out?

  • Christopher Paolini is my fav author so far my fav 2nd author is James patterson

  • Comment removed

  • He is so handsome.

  • This book might have lots of battles and villians and romance and swords and dragons and dwarves and elves, but what it needed was interesting characters and character development and interesting plot and some kind of plot and less dwarvish dribble and less cliche battles and less boring annoying dragons. bottom line this book fucking sucked and I can't believe that I actually read the whole thing.

  • @BringerOfTruth123 THANKYOU, I completely agree. One thing a good book must have is a heart, and soul and emotion within unique characters which are beleivable, respectable and not rip offs from LOTR or Star Wars. But I didn't read the whole book, I put it down after I read the first page.

  • @cre8ivartist I can't believe that I mustered through it.

  • The first book was a shameless rip-off of A New Hope. Eldest was at best poorly written. But I was pleasantly surprised with Brisingr. He's no Man Booker Prize winner yet, but there's a significant increase in his writing standard. It can still be verbose at times, but he goes a lot further in character development, as well as developing his own prosaic style. I look forward to the next installment.

  • For all you people who keep saying that he ripped the story off from other people, I'd like to see you write your own fantasy without being influenced from other fantasies. Obviously he was influenced from various story lines, but the story itself is from his imagination. It's very difficult to create your own world and he did a lot better than any of you illiterate jerks would.

  • @TaneTv15 Actually, no he didn't. Anybody who writes is influenced by something, but that doesn't mean you go stealing others works. His plot in Eragon is exactly the same as Star Wars. The names in all his books are very similar if not the same as that of Tolkien. The battle that are fought have the same progression as Tolkien's books (for instance the battle at the end of the first book where all the orcs are fighting allowing him to kill them all off easier).

  • @TaneTv15 Having creativity means you take existing ideas and make something new out of them that hasn't been done before. Tolkien took all kinds of magical creatures and put them in the same world together. He didn't rip off the plot of anyone else. He invented whole new races and several different languages (not the crap that Paolini came up with where the words are ripped from Tolkien and his sentences have no structure). What Tolkien did is called being inspired.

  • Guy knows how to sell a book! And embarrass his editor at the same time.

  • The first book in the series is by far my most favourite book I have ever read in my entire life. I read it in highschool, and when I first looked at the cover I was like what the hell is this. But as soon as I started reading it I could not put it down. Probably only afew books have ever had that reader effect on me. The plot the characters the whole book was GOLD. The second book was terrible compared to the first and I have not read the third as of yet but plan on soon. THUMBS UP FOR ERAGON!

  • @MusicSeanDaly i honestly like the second better then the first

  • Altought Paolini seems to like taking ideas of other writes, it's one of my favourite writers. First J.K. Rowling, then Christopher Paolini and others are Robert Jordan, Roderick Gordon, Rick Riordan, Darren Shan, Michael Scott and others. But the voice of his writing is unique, and thats what i like of his series.

  • Ok.

  • @AlexMelloO good point

  • It's got lots of battles! And villains! And romance! And swords! And dragons! And dwarves! And elves!

  • @WanderingProphet Everything a book needs! :-D

  • @WanderingProphet And human/elves!

    .. Or, one.

  • @WanderingProphet YEEEEAAAAAAHHHH! haha

  • @WanderingProphet YEAAAAAAAAA

  • @WanderingProphet And lots of ripoffs and lots of bad writing and there's lots of better books out there......like the books he ripped off (Star Wars, Dragon Riders of Pern, and Middle Earth Series).....

  • Hi guys! I'm a big fan of the fantasy genre, and I was wondering, does the inheritance series any good?

So please, tell me if the series worth the money, time, reading and buying!

    Thanks!

  • @fantezie If you want good Fantasy, read the writers Paolini ripped off: JRR Tolkien, Terry Brooks, Robert Jordan and by all means, watch "Star Wars".

  • @Featster74 Dude settle down so many authors these days use the plot base of Star Wars. Its the most common one. And by the way, paolini admitted several times that he picked out the best elements of the fantasy books he reads and fitted them into his novel. So settle down. You're jealous of young talent at writing. Give him props, he was home schooled.

  • @chillybearB No, I have met and been taught by writers who are infinitely better and sound less pretentious than Paolini. Hell, I'm not that great of a writer but I know I could write better except my parents didn't have the publishing connections his did. Nor were John Malkovich and Jeromy Iorns feeling generous enough to act in a movie based on something I wrote. I just recognize people who got lucky thanks to their parents vs people with actual writing talent.

  • @Featster74 I see. You do have a good point.

  • @Featster74 dude, Star Wars ripped off fantasy stories as well, Lucas said himself its the same fantasy story told over and over, he just converted it into a sci-fi.

  • @fantezie It's pretty cool, not extremely complicated, but if you're looking for something like Lord of the Rings, I suggest Steven Erikson books of Malazan.

  • hes....such a nerd. Sorry, great book even if its alot like star wars

  • great books, but i feel sad for christopher. he's never gonna get laid.......

  • he doesn't write good battles vs John Flanagan

  • He's so cute! And brilliant. haha

  • Lol he really does love the whole thing :) Success is not wasted on him, and I think he deserves it.

  • HAHAHAHAHA!

  • what a tool...

  • LOL to that guy in the back who yelled: YEAH!!! LOLOL that was great!!

  • He hugs his editor and just shakes his mother's hand? Tells you much about their relationship...

  • And his dad is going WTF is this Chris!?!? lol

@mcphantic80 his voice is kinda weird, but he has more opportunity to get laid than you, so stfu.

  • He does hug his mother at 3:38

  • ahah mcphantic he would be like umm are those boobs..

  • like the books but i wonder if hes ever made out wit a girl??? ;-D LOL

  • I really love the Inheritance Cycle!

  • I cannot believe he said that "battles, villains (which his book lacks), romance, swords, dragons, dwarves, elves" are all a book needs?!

A GOOD book needs a decent plot, and realistic characters.

the movie sucked, and the books really aren't that good.

There is no tension in this book whatsoever.

"brisingr continues the adventures of eragon and saphira..." Well DUH! That's kinda obvioius since it is the third book.

  • @fairiegirl2992 Stop trolling, he needs to start the speech off somewhere.

Also, the plot is intricate and fun.

The movie has no connection to the quality of the books.

    No tension?

Explain when Murtagh joins Galbatorix and rides in on a dragon, when we find out that Eragon and Murtagh are brothers, find out Brom's a Rider, we also don't know until Eragon gets healed that he'll remain crippled forever. Also, Oromis and Glaedr.

  • @DragonFightersFanfic I am merely stating my opinion. You're entitled to your own.

  • @fairiegirl2992 Sorry, I guess I over reacted :P

  • @DragonFightersFanfic it's alright. No hard feelings. :)

  • LOVE his books, but he's such a nerd :P I'm not sure he's even hit puberty yet lol, his voice is so high.

But again, love the books. Still waiting for any details about the 4th book. =/

  • Its a great series, and a great writer!

  • why do u think he of all authors is agreat writer? Even narnia and his dark materials is better

  • @Grymbaldknight Tell that to the people he ripped off. Among all authors he is the laughing stalk because he didn't invent one single thing. He simply took characters that others created and gave them very similar names and calls them his own. He is an example of how not to write. The only reason his books are popular is because he was hyped on oprah as being a child prodigy, and his parents own a publishing company........he's lucky he hasn't been sued yet for copyright infringement....

  • @Grymbaldknight Paolini didn't have to go through the normal publisher who keeps authors works for six months only to tell them that they aren't good enough. He compared himself to being better than Tolkien, when in fact, all he did was just rip off Tolkien's characters. He is not a good writer, he never will be, his works will be dead in 10 years because people will be over his books when they finally see that everything he ever wrote was a rip off of other writers

  • @Narsedax Perhaps, but using a good combination of different works to invent something familiar yet new kinda appeals to me...don't ask me why, i just do.

I never said his work was original, but if you want to be technical, no writer ever entirely invents something new. Parts are always 'stolen' from other works, and recombined with other things to make it fresh. Call it recycling if you will.

If not defending plagiarism, but imitation is the greatest form of flattery...

  • @Grymbaldknight There's a big difference between inspiration and copying off someone else's ideas. Every character in Eragon can be traced back to Tolkien or Star Wars. He did not create a new plot but used the one from Star Wars and didn't change a thing (copy right infringement). And many of the characters and battles he got directly from Tolkien. All he did was change their names. That's it. He didn't change anything about them (like the elves coming from over the sea).

  • Respond to this video... The thing that separated Tolkien was the fact that he was inspired by mythology. But, he didn't just go and rip off a plot from a story and not change it......no, he changed the plot to fit HIS story. He made new races. He made several different languages that can be learned and spoken (Paolini's are just a bunch of crap thrown together that don't have any structure). And he made a whole new world. That's called inspiration. Paolini is called plagiarism.

  • @Grymbaldknight He didn't create anything new in his works. I agree with you that everything that has been written is gotten from somewhere else. But, what inspiration is, is getting ideas from somewhere else and changing them to fit your idea. Paolini just got a bunch of characters from LOTR, the plot from Star Wars, and the dragon stuff from Dragon Riders of Pern, and throws them all together and expects them to work out the same way. That's why his characters have no depth.

  • Haha, it's like the Inheritance Cycle is Star Wars but with LOTR characters.

  • @Grymbaldknight The thing that separated Tolkien was the fact that he was inspired by mythology. But, he didn't just go and rip off a plot from a story and not change it......no, he changed the plot to fit HIS story. He made new races. • @Narsedax

You obviously havent read all four books thats a very ignorant statement on your half

  • Comment removed

  • @Narsedax Easy dude, easy. As much as i dislike copying of ideas, the combination of SW and LotR kinda just works for me; since i like the two i found that someone mixing them sort of refreshing. This is a matter of opinion, however; i just happen to like his style. Maybe i'm just not reading broadly enough. There are also many others who have praised his use of, shall we say, anecdotes, to other (and considerably better) works of fiction - yes, i do think tolkien is better. Who doesn't?

  • he's so weird. BUT I LOVE THE BOOKS.

  • There are alot of child authors these days

There is a new childrens book out on lulu, com called Jack and the Cheese Stalk

It was written and illustrated by a 17 year old and it is HILARIOUS!!!!! :D

  • wow 10 years for 3 books....pendragon series the dude made 2-3 in a year......

  • Just finished this last night good thing i didn't read the dum ugly freak mcphantic or whatevr's coment

  • oh u also forgot to say eragon made a blue sword and arya is no doubt the next dragon rider, cause she has green eyes and the next 1 born is green. where eragon has blue yes and his dragon...u get the point

  • i thought brom died?

    didnt read eldest...

is there another book coming? and who gets red drag and yellow one?

    and what of roran?

  • THE INHERITANCE CYCLE IS SHIT!!!!!!!

  • Oh really? So why you are watching this video vicrocz????

  • Dude, I'm fucking joking. I own all the books so far.

  • Oh thats k.

  • ur such a loser

  • I'll tell you what I told the other guy: I WAS JOKING. And stop defending Paolini. His cycle is nothing compared to the greats like Tolkien and Card.

  • THANK YOU! Orson Scott Card is a fucking champion! Tolkien needs no more praise then he already receives, but why does Paolini get such attention. I know why, because he appeals to the dimly witted.

  • lol that is so true, same with SMeyer and Twilight. For so long I wondered how those two became so successful when their work is so poor.

  • So how *did* they become so popular?

  • I think today's readers just have lower standards.

  • You must have no life. I hate so-called "fans" who spoiles such big things! GOD you're an idiot!

  • This is just a really big flamewar.

  • WHEN DOES BOOK 4 COME OUT??????

  • why does the fourth book have to be so far away -.-'

  • tihs is awsome!

  • dude writing is not all about ariculation and perfection grammar and shit its about being able to entertain and touch the imaginations of your readers... and in that case he is a great writer... not a tolkein or rowling but a great writer and you being a writer and not knowing any of ur collections... what the fuck does that make u......

  • yeah thank u I hate how in schools they really turn students off from the entertainment of reading with analyzing the grammer and symbols of such complex and dry books like the SCARLET LETTER and anything by Shakespear, I mean how many ppl understand those? I whole point of reading is to be entertained.

  • Not a Tolkien? Tolkien is the greatest writer. Ever. Think before you comment such things.

  • I'm sorry, but this guy is a terrible writer and definitely not a genius. The writing in the book is usually bland and at the very rarest of occasions it is somewhat interesting. It is a story filled with stereotypes and it seems he really couldn't sway himself away from any of the old ideas.

This is coming from another writer of a similar age as Paolini, he isn't that amazing. Just because his books sell doesn't prove that he has talent.

Sorry, I just needed to break that to some people.

  • I didn't heard of your books, are they good?Who are you?A nobody who tries to get some atention?Crawl back to your cave and never come out with such a stupid comment will ya?In conclusion, his story is good and you are a nobody, get used to it

  • Brsingr! HAHAHA NERD! But that third book is awesome.

  • People always say it would not of been published with out his mother and father, and maybe this is true, but did his parents force the public to buy the books?

Obviously not. The only conclusion is he is an excellent writer and millions of people will pay to read his books.

  • Sorry, but a person who believes Dan Brown to be of any literary value can't have high standards when reading books.

  • why do u not like dan Brown?

  • I like Dan Brown's plots and the research behind them... but his characters are all the same... Not once has Brown shown the reader a different kind of hero (I will admit that in Deception Point he uses a female) but really... he just uses the same templates each time. I was harsh on Dan Brown only to make a point.

  • That is pretty true but I think the focus of his books are mainly about the research and information / plot, not so much the characters.

  • True. So I think it would be safe to say that he tells a good story, but his writing isn't amazing.

  • thats really true!! but i do love Da Vinci Code!! and am waiting to get his new book....i forgot the title!! something with Symbol?? lol.

  • The title is The Lost Symbol. I'm reading it right now and it's very good. :)

  • hey thanks I also got the Lost Symbol book and plan to read it after finishing a Stephen King book.

  • I tried reading the Da Vinci Code..but I wanted to kill the main character not even half way through..I couldn't get into any of his characters they seemed very robotic! Even Christopher Paolini's character development is better.

  • It's simple to understand why authors like Dan Brown and Paolini sell... because the majority of the peoples in the world are boring. It's that simple.

  • Danbrown, your conclusion is flawed. Saying Christopher Paolini is an excellent writer because his work sells, is like saying that the director of a porno has achieved a cinematic masterpiece because people buy his movie. Now, I'm not going to get into this argument about whether or not Christopher Paolini is a good writer, but there are other factors that come into play when determining whether or not success if deserved. Paolini's age, for example, was used to boost sales.

  • eh, I am done now. "arguing" over the internet is stupid and immature! Makes me fell like I am 5.

  • he reminds me of a more nerdy version of alan from 2 & a half men

  • very good comparison

  • I have to say it, i love his work, but he looks and sounds rather annoying :D

  • dont get mee wrong he is a literature + storyline GENIUS

but he is such a nerd!

not really rollin with the ladies

    maybe the dragons................

  • haha agreed

  • yah but I sort of love certain artistic geniuses like Willy Wonka or Tim Burton who are so artistic but have huge social blind spots LOL.

  • Are you sure you are a human,Scrubs? No offense on my side, mate, just curious. You arent certainly an urgal, they have got a heart and A BRAIN[and it will offend them if I call YOU a kin of theirs]. I think...no,I know for sure-YOU ARE A VIRUS!!!Would be really unfair if I dont get a Noble Prize for this path breaking discovery-truely sensetional too-A VIRUS THAT CAN SPEAK ITS BRAINLESS MIND!!!

  • Have u read any other books besides this series? Also you insult me by saying stuff about urgals, do you realize they are NOT real? You insult my IQ. And you sound like you're 5 rather then 15. His deepest parts in the book are unrealistic and just cheesy. You can tell he was a sheltered kid/teen. Why would I be jealous? Really? He is a bad writer, his parents are the reason for this terrible series even getting published.

  • I think Paolini is a good author, even if parts of his writing tend to be stiff and awkward. His depiction of magic and mythical creatures are very well thought out, displayed, and evenly spaced.

  • Along with that, you did not offend me in anyway, you did however amuse me a lot! Thanks:) And also, if you would actually try to defend the book better then saying "I must be jealous" and insulting my intelligence....you would have sounded your age;) Someone needs to learn to respect others opinions....and again the only reason I will finish it, is because I am curious about the end.

  • the " :) " and the " ;) " really emphasize your point... i can totally see your sarcasm and false cheer now

  • Hum, you can think that, but it is not true. I really do use ;) :) :D xD =] =[ all those things a lot. I really did find it amusing. If I got mad, I would not even had wrote a word I would have cooled off first, why? because when I am mad, I cannot think straight!

  • yeah i also agree with maxanakin7

    i hat scrubs3dg7

  • I agree with maxanakin7.I dont no about WE HATing[whatever HAT has to do with HATE!] you,Scrubs,I certainly HAT you!!

  • LOVe his books.I mean seriosly,I am 15, I cant write books like him!!Scrubs, you stink like an urgals breath. You hate his books cause you are either jealous or you have low I.Q to say that his deepest parts in the books are boring.

  • People should stop trashing the books and the author. Yeah, the books are pretty much a rip off of Star Wars and LOTR, but people enjoy reading them, so who cares. These aren't my favorite books in the world but they are still fun to read. Eragon was written amazingly and Eldest was also fun to learn more about Roran (although the Eragon in the elves place aka Dagobah, was very long and hard to get through.

  • don't mind the book, don't like him...

  • twilight, harry potter and this seires are all ok series better than the chronicals of narnia if you ask me

  • I love this book. Its not my favorite book in the world but its very intertaining on a rainy day :).

  • This guy worked 10 years ... and he still dosn't know how to write? Ok. We got it. On the first book he was 15. Actually. I liked the first book the most. Easy to read, not so long ... but come on... I just read 760 of pure garbage. Or mor exactly 710 pages because the last 50 pages weare a bit ok.

Eragon is still a prick and I still have to read stupid dialogs.

  • I hate Eragon he is an idiot...I have never hated a main character more..Roran is much more interesting and it almost seems like Christopher Paolini didn't even write his character. And for those that think his books are oh so great I agree the first one was good, but it went down hill from that and youre suppose to grow as a writer not get worse. I think that the people who think he is oh so good are just people that have read nothing but Harry Potter(which I love btw) and

  • Twilight..go read Terry Brooks & Stephen Kings the Dark Tower[you will notice how much he copies the last one and how much he copies Terry Brooks!]....and I am only reading this one cause my dads gf got it and I had no intense of finishing the series although now I may. I skip over most of it[except Roran's part.cause that isnt complete garbage]. But other then that it seems Chris. P has been sheltered his whole live& brainwashed to hate the humans.

  • and doesn't know how to act and I think[after seeing this] Eragon his what he thinks of himself as, notice how arrogant he is? I DO! oh he only got his book published cause his parents..remember that!...cause if it were not for them, his writing career woulda gone NO WHERE..no good company would want to sale his books in there name!

  • Comment removed

  • scrubs3dg7 wtf kindaof name is that? ur videos suck and we all hat u!!!

  • lmao..You HAT me? .I have NO videos smarty;) oh& you know the show Scrubs? it is my fav. show and 3dg=Three Days Grace 1 of my favorite bands 7 is my fav. number& honestly all you have to say is that EVERY1[when u dont speak for every1 btw] HATS me and what is with my name? wow maybe you should wait till u have something to say against the points I was trying to make before you say stuff .just a suggestion.

  • scrubs3dg7, you talk too much

please stop making lectures about why you hate eragon

i think the inheritance cycle is great

christopher P. has a great imagination, and a lot of people like to read his books

i'm not saying you should like his series, but i think you should stop insulting christopher P. he has talent

  • he has fucked up imagination instead of partying and being social as a kid chris dreamed about riding dragons

  • oh and if you have read any other books then the two I said something about then you would realize all his ideas are NOT his...

  • twilight seires sucks and inheritence series is the best their is!! just like harry potter if you agree with me give this comment a thumbs up!!

  • i completely agree with you

  • if this kid went to the sissiest bar around, he'd still get his ass kicked!

  • Is it just me, or does Chris Paolini sorta look like Chris Pirillo?

  • No, it's not just you. Maybe Paolini decided to plagerise Pirillo's look and maybe his parents wanted there names to be simmiliar to.

  • love this video!!! great rhetorical ability. he's very enthusiastic and energetic, and really looks like he made it really worth it for his audience to attend.

  • And he's also very enthusiastic about raping your mom in the anal fashion. With a cactus.

    lololololololololololol

  • what a sexy geek he is! damn! (lusting)

  • His discription of the book is so ridiculous at 1:33 he's like "this continues their adventures as they travel" LOL i could have said that without reading the book, and its the same for any series you could say that!!!!

  • Inheritance is my favourite book series and Chris Paolini is my favourite author. Close second is Conn Iggulden. People, buy the books of these two authors.

  • i just finished the 2nd book i going to walmart tomorrow to get this!

  • I've read all three and really looking forward to the fourth!

  • Me too!

  • He is pretty cool guy!

  • Not to mention, he's kinda hot. Not kinda...IS hot. :-)

  • ROFL HAHAHAHA

  • Lots of BATTLES! and VILLAINS! and RO-MANCE! And SWORDS! And DRAGONS! Dwarves, elves...!

He's nerdy, but in a really cute and appealing way. I love him :-)

  • brisingir is word in anciet language wich means fire

  • Dude, if you have read first book you understand that, we already know, and those who don't know, f*ck off and go read the 2 first ones

  • It's also the name of Eragon's new sword after he loses Zar'oc. Whenever he says its name, it bursts into flame. If i ruined some part of the book for you, I am so so so so so so so so so sorry.

  • i have read all 3 books, and it's people who haven't read third that might read this, why the hell do you do this? do you get a kick out of beeing a retard? fucking idiot

  • . . . So speaks the dorkiest "writer" in the USA-the KING OF BRISNGR LAND!!!!!!!!!!!
