  • Yokozuna was morbidly obese at this point.

  • wtf are the new rockers wearing...looks like theyre wearing those bathing suits that fat old women wear..the kind with the built in dress...

  • MJ could work as a Heel! Good post!

  • Why did WWF have this Kuwaiti Invitational International tournament?

  • @owaisinus At the time, the WWF was losing money in the United States and started looking at foreign markets that might be able to balance things out. They focused on the Middle East which had never really been tapped as a WWF market and tried to make it a really big deal when they went on tour there. They went again in December of 96 and one more time in 1997. By the end of 97 things had turned around business wise and the WWF basically forgot about the Middle East.

  • @CombatSportFan No offense to the Middle East whatsoever, but Vince McMahon's focus needed to be on competing against WCW with a much better quality of a product.

  • @landrykkb That's true, but Vince has always looked more at worldwide business because of his notion of being right up there with Donald Trump and all of that. He would rather say that Wrestlemania made X amount of money than say Wrestlemania was a critical success. It's an ass backward philosophy that would work better in reverse (good wrestling = good business.)

  • @CSAlmanac At least Vince put the world in World Wrestling Federation, unlike WCW.

  • @landrykkb WCW was bringing in talent from Japan and Mexico, and held a yearly pay-per-view in Tokyo from 1991-1995. They also did tours of Europe and had a HUGE following in Australia. So I don't think it's fair to say the WWF had the market cornered globally either while competing with WCW.

  • @CSAlmanac I knew about WCW's partnership with New Japan, but I still didn't think they toured nearly as much as WWF/E.
