  • This is a wonderfully crisp clear recording, and Jane Froman sounds amazing. Her voice is so rich and lilting. Thank you.

  • I am so happy to find this still here on You Tube, having been away for awhile. LOVE IT!

  • @jeanfss38 Welcome back! Thanks for watching.

  • An attack of nostalia brings me back again! So very happy to find this still here!!!!

  • I haven't checked on this posting for awhile - although I really love it, so much!! Glad to find it again, tonight!

  • @jeanfss38 I'm glad you enjoy it. Come back anytime!

  • Another great series of tunes, with Jane Froman. The sound is excellent. Thank you.

  • I infer that you have access to the Gershwin memorial concert of '38. Would you consider posting Froman's "Summertime" and "It Ain't NecessarilySo" for our pleasure and comment?

  • I have that segment on 12" 78rpm disc. Its called "Gems from Porgy and Bess" a medley of tunes from the show on 2 four-minute sides. I will post it within a couple of days.

  • There is a story/myth (?) that George Gershwin promised Jane Froman that if she would introduce "Summertime" on the air (which she did), he would give no one else permission for a year (and he kept this promise). Does anyone know if this is true?

  • This is apparently true. According to her biographer, this incident was related by Jane herself. Page 44, "Jane Froman: Missouri's First Lady of Song" by Ilene Stone.
