I don't fully understand the benefits of this tool over the paperclip. I have an "Ultra Carry II" and have never had a problem with disassembly. You are better off if you remove the slid first then insert the paperclip and remove the spring. Specifically what issues does this tool solve? GunWebsites seems to suggest that the tool is larger so you will be less likely to lose the tool. Is that the main benefit of this tool? Please clarify. THANKS!!
$25 + 5 for shipping. a $30 investment for a $1300 (for me) gun. I personally think Kimber should make a deal with the guy who invented this and include them with all new pistols. the paper clip is a horrible idea, this little part makes my life much easier!
Springfield Armory has a little plastic tool they will send you for free, if you didn't get one with your purchase. $25+ shipping for a piece of brass? No thanks
But talk to a few people who own $1000 + pistols and ask them if $25 is significant to them..
I personally can understand how someone would rather have a tool that will last as long as the pistol, made in thew USA and something they don't have to make for something like this
I removed the ebay item number comment because I see SplitHairs posted a video response showing a review of the tool I have to your Ultra 1911 tool review for the EMP. You can see his review of the alternative tool, which IMHO is a better designed and less expensive tool here on YouTube (search video# 9QzkTR9x1e4) and get a review of the other tool and see what it looks like.
Not "my thing" at all. I have bought one though and think it's worth paying less money for. I can not see paying $25 for a little piece of brass and this is why I made the comment. If one were going to spend that kind of money just to have a metal tool, they could go to any auto parts store and buy a piece of hard line (such as metal transmission or fuel line) for about $5 and make a dozen or more of the tools for little money.
Maybe you should post the video on a private website if you don't want people's comments being posted. Or turn off comments all together. This is YouTube and any and everybody is welcome to post their opinions as long as you leave comments on. Don't like it, tough crap!!!
It's not my product. I posted the ebay item number to show the tool I was talking about. I didn't realize it was a multi item sale and still open. I just used that item number as it's what I purchased.
I posted my opinion on this tool you reviewed. That opinion is that I think it's way overpriced for what it is and that a better designed tool is available for a lot less. If that's lame in your opinion, so be it. It's staying put so people will know what's being discussed.
with such a small spring how is the recoil on a firearm like that....i have a full size 1911 but for every day carry i have a keltec p32 and im been thinking about getting a kahr pm45 or something similar instead.
it also looks like i cant get it here n canada..just looking quikly at the linked site...ummm yah ill get back to this vid if i have problems..vary informative...great vid..
no way im in the prosess of buying a kmber..man its that hard to take down..guess im going to have to get one of thoes.....ill check out the link..thanks good vid..
kimber tends to be dollar wise and penny foolish. i spent $1250 on a grand raptor to get one piece of crap mag. if you're going to give one mag at least make it a kimpro mag. listen up kimber
Just curious, why would you like brass as opposed to plastic? It seems it could dislodge if you are not careful. The plastic snaps around the rod so dislodging it would be tough. Also it would seem the plastic would be less likely to scratch. Again, not arguing just curious. You are right both are Waaaaay better than the stock tool.
They just don't stir the soul in a way a 1911 or a magnum revolver do.
You might say polymers are the Toyota of guns: safe, reliable, efficient, but few would put a poster of them above their bed. True, there is a large Glock following just like Toyota outsells everyone else, but is it not a matter of passion or just good policy?
What excites me is a long-slide Para 1911 or a S&W .460, but for every day "driving" logic dictates a Glock 20 or an M&P.40.
In fear of sounding like a fanboy. I have always liked kinber handguns and rifles they may be a little pricey but if i could buy a m1911 style i would buy a kimber but i cant because im australian and our laws prevent me buying handguns and many other guns :(
for some reason, i thought you were supposed to put the brass tool into the magazine then bring the slide back and that would do pop off the spring guide. good thing i waited to see or i would make my self look like an even bigger ass!

so what about cleaning the spring and guide rod? can you take the tool off, clean the parts, then replace the tool by forcing the spring down??

$25? No thanks. $5 is even too much.

I don't own a Kimber. Why do you not want to push down on the grip safety while reassembling?
seanxvw 1 year ago
@seanxvw
It makes a little part pop up and if you didn't notice you could just 'muscle' the slide back in wrecking that piece in the process

if you don't want to pay for brass ... don't
but some people don't want to use plastic tools .. go for it

I have a couple of expensive, 3" 1911's. $25.00 is a small price to pay for piece of mind.
As for the nay-sayers, DONT BUY IT!

$25?
Are you f'ing SERIOUS?
It's a great idea, very smart, but $25 for the same amount of brass as a spent casing???
Come on....So what's the total after S&H $35 or $40?
Geez....

yawn..
$25 is not the same to everyone..
Go buy something cheap, or don't even use a tool
But talk to a few people who own $1000 + pistols and ask them if $25 is significant to them..

big deal.. you could also eat out of the trash to save money, so what?
People aren't all the same as you, and someone might like this product.
Any excuse you come up with will not stop your post from being rude

LOL your lame post is STILL there..

If your product was worth it's weight, why do you need to attack a review of your competitions part?

Yes, their mags are a shame. I could not believe how cheesy the stock mag was.

As an alternative, check out a Delrin (tough plastic) version I reviewed on my channel. Cheaper and snaps into place for positive engagement.

I did watch your video.. I like that design too.. but after using this brass one, I would personally rather use the brass version for $15 more..
Although I might get the plastic type too
Both are much better than the paper clip they give you

I'm sure both work just fine..
I like the weight of the brass tool, and with the hole in it, I can store it on a key chain (in a range bag), or on a pegboard
