@MynameisElliott i like msar more because of the bolt locks back on the last shot ...makes reloads easier ....that charging handle is a workout...lol even a pain with an eotech on top
Hey Chris, what suppressor do you have on your Msar? What adapter if any did you use? Is your Msar SBR'd? I want to use a YHM Phantom QD 5.56 and to place the required phantom flash hider on my barrel, what needs to be done to have this setup? Thanks!
I just bought an MSAR E4 and I absolutely love the gun. I am going to sell my other ARs and buy some more E4's if I can find them. I plan on keeping mine light and fast. Iron sights only, suppressor, and a little TLR2 light/laser combo.
I had just Bought this weapon and its amazing!!! I have been tryin to break down the rifle and all i can do is take out the barrel and the butt and tirgger pad. i have been pullen and the reciever will not come out??? i have pushed the button all the way to the right side i belive and it still will not break down!!! is there anyway to loosen or something??? i dont want to force it cuz then i would be doing it wrong??? Awsome rifle im trying to make it my patrol rifle!!!
I know that the consensus among those lucky enough to actually have bullpups that are registered for a can on them say that they are much louder than standard designed rifles with a suppressor.
I shot a steyr aug with a suppressor on, seemed to work just like it did on an ar15. I am pretty sure if you use subsonic ammo, its gonna be veryyy quiet. And if you use standard ammo, should still help quiet things down to a more comfortable level. Not to mention it looks awesome
@soldierfalcon Placing a suppressor on a bullpup is a loss in effectiveness ? Kind of like saying a muffler will work on a 350 cid Camaro but wont work on a Volkswagen with the same engine. I see no LOGIC in your ASSUMPTION. A bullpup will be louder to the operator unsuppressed simply because the muzzle is closer to the shooters face. The same holds true with a suppressed weapon of any make or caliber. I hope you have researched and realized the error in your statements by now. Happy shooting .
I have to admit that I do not have any first hand knowledge about putting a can on a bullpup. However, I've been told both by friends and online that it's a bit of a waste of a tax stamp and a can. That said, I am not sure if that is because since the action is by the ear that it is still loud to the operator, or if it actually is functionally/mechanically less effective to put a suppressor on a bullpup. ::shrug::
@AntiCitizenX , good luck taking the knock-out pin out of the bolt. If it is not lined up it will not allow you to re-insert the bolt. The pin would often shoot out of the carrier and get lost on the shop floor.
I got to the point where I did not take it apart but would use compressed air to blow dirt out of the fire pin hole.
@SmartDrug That firing pin assembly is a bitch to put back together the first time. He makes it seem so easy but he probably done it lots of times and found a system that works for him. me personally i need a flathead screw driver to put that together again. Other than that this weapon is damn reliable. It doesn't need much cleaning I just do it to make sure to increase lifespan of the rifle. Never had my rifle Jam.
@ColtraneM3 Same here, almost purchased one until I watched this vid. I will probably take the money and get a different caliber upper for my AR, Stoeger Coach, and a Henry .22 Golden Boy.
@GUNeRAG not that I had any money saved up for said purpose, but with what I COULD have bought the STG with, I've bought a GP-100, Mossberg 590A1, and I'm probably going to pick up an M77 Hawkeye as well.
@GUNeRAG I've handled the STG-556 (not the E4 model), and I'll say, I'm much happier with my SR-556, Ruger did some nice stuff with that gun, and far more options to customize!
@GUNeRAG I'd love a .50 BMG, but I wouldn't love the price! Plus, at least in my area, lots of ranges won't even allow .50 BMG, so I'm keeping an eye on the .338 Lapua to see if it drops in price over time.
Thanks so much producing this video, it is indeed very helpful. As a previous poster said, the manual that comes with the rifle is vague. I just got my STG-556 and I absolutely love it. Shot it yesterday at a local 3-Gun match. 500+ rounds out-of-the-box without cleaning/lubing and it is accurate and rock solid reliable!
I forgot to add that the transition from using the optic to the back-up iron sights is very natural and requires almost no head movement. Only a co-witnessed AR optic/BUIS is better. Futhermore, if you watch my video shooting the MSAR in a 3-Gun stage, you can see there is almost no recoil or muzzle climb. It balances so well and tucks in so tight that it moves less than an AR with a birdcage. Can't wait to get my YHM Phantom suppressor mounted!
Seems like my original reply didn't get posted. I just got my STG-556 and love the Steyr AUG clone optic. I have ARs with Eotech, Aimpoint/3X magnifier and 1-4X variable optics and the Steyr scope is a practical optic that works very well. You do have to get a super-low cheekweld as the height-over-bore seems lower than an AR and the eye relief is short and the field of view is limited. However the reticle is great and works very well for 0-200 meters.
@fxdwings I believe the optic is a 1.5X scope with a "donut" aiming reticule. Thats what the factory AUGs had. The donut reticule to gave you a crude ranging estimate. It was designed so that a standing 6 ft human would just fill the donut at 300m.
Thanks Chris--the first time I did the complete take down, it was very frustrating because the cam pin in the bolt can rotate and block the firing pin from going all the way through. I'm glad these videos are up on the web, really makes it easier to take these weapons apart.
Which is better? This one or the original Styr AUG?

Why put a supresser on a bullpup rifle? Other than that - excellent video. Very informative.
soldierfalcon 1 year ago
@soldierfalcon same reasons you put it on any rifle
labartic 1 year ago
@labartic
Putting a can on a bullpup is not very effective. The efficiency is decreased due to the basic design.

@soldierfalcon how do you figure?

I don't completely remember.

@soldierfalcon Mind explaining why? I don't see how it can be but I'm curious as to why you think it is less effective.

Thanks for making this video. My documentation does not explain how to take apart the firing pin assembly. I cleaned it for the first time today.

I'm amazed by how complicated those things are! I have little experience with bullpups, and now I'm not so sure I want to!

Could someone please explain to me how the cycling action works on the AUG-type rifles?
I was trying to watch this video to find out, but it doesn't seem to have a conventional return spring of any sort like on an AR or AK.
Otacon237 2 years ago
If you'll notice, the bolt is spring-loaded when he pulls it off. My guess is that has something to do with it.

Never had problem taking may STG 556 down
(not to brag). Very interesting rifle I must say, also
it's almost easy to take-down as the AK-47.
