  • Still setting the (independant) standard then Austin? TV quality as always (but far too erudite and eclectic for the average "idiot box " viewer! )

I sincerely hope that your "hunting" is a fruitfull in 2012, for which I wish you all the best!

Many thanks for some superb entertainment.

(And that "scot" looks ruddy gorgeous in green! )

  • All the very best to yourself and your family too Tim. Thanks for your comments and hope you keep enjoying the videos

  • Been watching your work over the last 18 months and so very impressed with the consistent very high standard. This compilation comes as something of a relief as I live near Banbury and we've been starved of steam of late!

Keep up the exceptionally high standard

    Best regards,

    Ken

  • Thanks for your very kind comments Ken. It's a shame not much steam passes your way now. There used to be quite a few through Banbury. All the best..Austin

  • It has been great watching your vids in 2011 as so much effort goes into them. happy xmas and new year mate.

  • Same to you too and thanks for watching the videos. Hope you continue to enjoy them in 2012

  • Great Video :D What is the Station at 2:06 in the video?

  • Thanks very much. The station was Abergele and Pensarn on the North Wales coast, and I got very very wet!

  • Something to look back on from 2011, a few memorable runs and performances. You capture steam in the north really well I admit, but wont you consider heading down south in 2012? Cant see any reason why you shouldn't, should never let cost or distance get in the way.

  • Thanks Ryan, I'm afraid cost and distance is a factor for me, I've cut down a lot over the past year. I would love to film on the Devon banks before I snuff it but would prefer to combine it with a stay in the area for a few days so I could visit some of the preserved lines. I reckon its far simpler to watch the excellent material you and your pals produce. All the best for Christmas and New Year

  • I have really enjoyed watching thank you very much. For us that no longer live in the UK it is a great reminder of what we are missing!

  • Thank you. I hope you continue to enjoy the videos of trains in the U.K. That's one of the great things about YouTube and similar sites, being able to keep in touch

  • Excellent work Austin and professionally put together, the year goes so quick but your film brings back all those happy memories. Here's to 2012 and lets hope it can be just as good.

The 28th January isn't that far off!!! Seasons greetings to yourself and your family.

    Many regards Phil.

  • Many thanks Phil and all the very best to you and your family too. Due to a spot of bad planning I'll miss the 28th as I'm going to the GCR for the weekend but can't wait to hear Ollie blasting up the S & C in February!

  • Cracking stuff Austin! Hope you and Pam have a fabulous Christmas :D Simon

  • Thanks Simon, hope you have a good Christmas too. Probably see you next at Burrs on a cold frosty morning under blue skies. Or then again...maybe it'll rain!

  • Superb video. You've captured the essence of mainline steam so well in this video. -Hayden.

  • Thanks very much Hayden, I set out to capture that essence so its nice to know you thought it worked and enjoyed the video

  • Fantastic selection Austin, very well put together as ever and like me I wonder how many miles we cover just to see these amazing machines . All the best for 2012 mate ,regards Steve

  • Thanks Steve, same to you and yours and lets hope for a snowy S & C in February!

  • Austin that's a super 6mins and 54secs of viewing pleasure. I'm going to have another 6:54 of viewing pleasure now, and watch it again! Many thanks, looking forward to your 2012 footage. Lee.

  • Thanks very much Lee, I quite enjoy looking back over the years clips and trying to reassemble them in a slightly different way

  • Fantastic compilation of clip from some great locations. It's been a wonderful year for steam & enthusiasts like us could never be without them.My they continue for many years .

  • Many thanks, we are so fortunate as you say to still be able to enjoy so much steam today. Best wishes to you for Christmas and New Year

  • Brilliant! I remember Steam on the Mainline 2010 that was great, but this tops that. Well done :D

  • Thanks for your kind comments, I'm pleased you thought this improved on Mainline 2010

  • great footage!

  • Thanks for your kind comment

  • Austin - words fail me! Brilliant, Fantastic etc. Amazing when I think back to the only way you could do this when I were in my 20s - with 16mm movie. Not as sharp, horrendously expensive and what a performance to show! Thanks to you for all your hard work, and soakings! Pam, too, and Happy Christmas to you both. . . . . . . Alan

  • I started with 8mm cine Alan and can only agree with your comments especially about the ordeal setting up the projector etc. Mine used to love chewing up film and spitting it out! Thanks for your kind comments and best wishes to yourself and your wife.

  • Great video Austin 2011 has been great for mainline steam. My favorite locomotive this year has to be Princess Elizabeth.

    Happy Christmas.

    JamesandPeter

  • Happy Christmas to you too, I'd agree that Lizzie is a strong contender for loco of the year with some brilliant performances (most of which I didn't film!!)
