I've always considered this animation really clever and fun (and even more if we consider that we are talking about an animation made on an Apple II computer when the computer generated videos were no like today's ones -there were no such a specialized software like the ones available today-).
So whats the story behind this? It has a few big Pixar names attached to it. Was this one of the commercials the studio was doing while they were making their short films?
@tylerlavite The computers had only 4mb of ram. There is a "making of" pencil test which explains how it was done. They had over 30 mac IIs with 4mb of ram working in parallel to render this and it still took days.
its peol like you who discust me, people on the internet who do nothing but watch videos and then have to make rude comments. this video is history it shows how far we have come in technology this video was made on a mac 2 a long ass time ago... on a computer with about 16MB of RAM and a 16Mhz processor instead of your crappy computer that you all take for advantage,
im assuming you have never used an animation program, because you cant goof around with an animation program and make something like this. something like this takes allot of skill to do. not something you do in one hour. learn something before you make assumptions.
i told you thanks for saying it was a nice video. the comments that i was gripping on was to "CptDaveLister" not you. thanks for posting. it is a great video :)
@CptDaveLister Also, the Internet didn’t exist when this one was made. That’s a hard concept to grasp, isn’t it? No Internet, thus no Internet trolls, thus no you. I miss it a bit right now.
it was a video made on a Macintosh 2 it had a 16MHZ processor and about 8MB of RAM this video was made to demonstrate the power of the Macintosh. and its very impressive for a computer almost 16 years old and the speed of it compared to what we have today.
I think we have the super-old MYST but I only tried to play it once with my sister and I was what, 7 then? But yeah. Cosmic Osmo... my favorite old school Mac game.
lol some of them where kind of joke credits but its interesting since people from Pixar are listed in thh credits. this was before Steve Jobs ever even thought of Pixar
this was not a commercial this was demonstration to show off the capability of the Macintosh II for a computer with 16MHZ processor and about 8MB RAM this is damn impressive
they take the business seriously they enjoy everything they do and have fun while doing it and they are perfectionist unlike microsoft who just tries to get everything out in a sertin time set and never takes there time.
yeah Microsuck p0wns Apple HA HA is that why they stole from them in the first place? and there NEW VISTA has all of this new stuff that Apple has had for years?
Oh, so Microsoft stole actually workingishness from Apple, wow...Are you sure they didn't steal it from say, B.C. Rich or someone? Because alot of companie's things actually work. In other words, you may have too be more specific what they stole.
why dont you learn the actualy history of Apple & Microsoft and Steve VS Bill.. im not going to get into an OS war here on youtube. im stiking with the fact that Apple beats the hell out of Microsuck and Winblows~! i want something that actually works and can get the job done without crashing every hour and i chose mac because it works unlike every god damn windows PC i ever had!
My PC doesn't crash, and my outlook works nicely and tells me as soon as I get an email, which in this case is your reply. So I don't know what version you were using or what kind of crappy hardware some idiot hooked you up with, but don't blame it on windows.
i blamed it on the hardware and windows i blame it on all of the damn windows PC's ive owned every single one of them was shit! the compaq the toshiba the gateway all of them sucked! i bought a MacBook and its way better then any other computer i have ever owned if windows works for you then fine i don't care... use what ever you want i use Mac, its what i prefer.
Three words. Build your own. Don't look for pre built stuff. By the way, ever since MACs changed the processors in their hardware they've actually been PCs, since that was the only thing different from them.
its not that i dont like the hardware in PC's its the OS Windows i cant stand windows i just never liked it ever since i ever first got a computer i did not like it. the only windows i ever liked was Windows 3.11 windows for work groups it was very stable and ran quite well.
does anyone actualy know what software was used to make it? i am an animator myself- using 3Ds max and would love to know more about earlier 3D animation techniques
