Mary has always been the prettiest of the Supremes and here though she seems tired she's going through a lot with Florence being kicked out and having to deal with the name change of the group and Diana's ever bloating ego. Cindy being the newest girl is trying to remember her steps and her status as a new Supreme. Hell what was there to smile about when you see your group falling apart. Mary has always been a trouper and I love her.

O.K, O.K i did bitterly attack Cindy 4 weeks ago about this performance ( I was in the middle of reading this book about Florence,"The Lost Supreme" it was good,get it!)I am now going to amend my comment's about "Miss Cindy" (lol!). I think Mary Jean and Cindy got a chance to express themselves more upon Diana's leaving, within the group's performances (no more "tyrany")made for a better peformance from all.Now Cindy had come into her own totally,and not really had to fill Flo's shoes anymore!

This performance at Spanish TV was taped at the end of january 1968, the only time DR & Supremes were promoting in Spain. They arrived just from a perfomance at the Canne's MIDEM. At this programme 'Tele-Ritmo they performed two songs. They are a lot of pictures of the arrival at Madrid Airport and at the press conference.

This is DEFINITELY a dress rehearsal. Their movements are slower, with no energy and it looks half done. Their outfits are not even matching! Most likely they had a TV interview right before this and the show came on a little later in the day, which would explain the perfect hair and makeup but so so clothes.

I vote that this was the actual video broadcast. Checkout the photos from the sullivan rehersals. Diana does not have her full lashes on and here her look is almost flawless.Cindy is all made up and Mary is put together as well . Usually Diana is giving hand gestures during setups directing camera shots, here they just were told to get some video for the show. Why the freeze before the song?Usualy they are always gigling. This was a rush job in betwen London and the Rome concerts

I really believe this is a rehearsal. Around 1:51 Diana is unsure of how she wants to dance. During a live show, should would never do this. Also there are times Mary and Cindy are not doing the same steps. Also it appears when they ladies are coming down the steps, that Cindy is apologizing for missing her cue to be in time with the other ladies.

I was fascinated with these vids because I've never seen a set of the Ross Supremes were Diana didn't seem to act the Star and stood completely alongside the other two just acting like a human being who was part of a three-girl group, like here. It was refreshing change from the better-known of all their '60s clips -- and she and they each looked beautiful and great here. ;)

From a distance here, Cndy coud really pass for Flo at this point. BTW- to the "Vandellas" remark: the whole world knew who Mary Wilson and Florence Ballard were. If you asked someone in the 1960s to name a Vandella or a Marvellette, they would have looked at you blankly. But we all knew Mary and Flo (and then Cindy). That's what made the Supremes so special and so famous--and what enabled Diaan Ross to become a star.

I agree with you that Diana does look exhausted. While it's true that the bulk of the burden was hers on and off stage, Mary & Cindy had more physical movement than Diana. It was, however, on Diana to ultimately put the group over and she never let down for a second. The emotional burden must have been beyond bearable. I love this clip and am certain it's a dress rehearsal - Miss Ross is not in performance mode. Even IF exhausted, she was never this laid back on any stage.
