i was born in 75 and my ma has had the born to run lp has been playing in our home since, and i can honestly say not 1 song of that lp has diluted or aged, every time i listen to it it still brings tears to my eyes and makes me want to blow up with PURE joy, the best lp for me EVER written and played, perfect band and . . . . the bruce!
Clarence is the most amazing and extraordinary sax player ever. The solo is played with so much feeling and talent that no one can turn it down. It is one of the best solos ever by far.
Mr. Clemons you play a mean sax i love the solo its has so much feeling i get goosebumps every time he hear this live version this is one of my favorite cds the whol concert is great
great song.....Born to run,Darkness on the edge of town and The wild, the innocent and east street shuffle WAS the best material he ever did......my opinion
oh good god this is perfect.what a song.what a story.the best live performance ive seen.i bet they even noticed during and after.sums up life in 10 minutes.
the thing is bruce never got cluttered by his success yeah this is the beginning so there is an innocence to it but even now over 30 years later hes still rippin it up every night and its obvious that hes still all about his fans. look at the videos from the magic tour the intimate relationship he has with the fans from those right at the foot of the pit to the last row in the upper deck is tremendous
Wow, This is live. God, we will nerver see a Bruce Springsteen like that ever again.. So uncluttered by success, Just like Elton John and Billy Joel's early days. Thanks
in my opinion.. this series of concerts.. hammersmith odeon in 75, are the best, hands down performance i think ive seen of bruce and the e street band. they just transcend... thats the only word i can use to remotely describe it. the music really touches me, in a strangly spiritual way. HIS PASSION!!! ...beautiful.
There are plenty of "trained voices" out there that are simply not very interesting and end up as Las Vegas lounge acts. I think the energy and the "personality" of someone's voice is more important than the ability to carry a note. Cases in point: Louis Armstrong, Jimmy Durante, Ray Charles, Mick Jaeger, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, and of course Bob Dylan. Nonetheless, if you can combine personality, passion, and vocal range, you end up with something special a la Elvis & Sinatra.
I also think it is about if they have other things to bring to the table, such as something worth hearing, which I think is what Bruce mixes with poetry. He seems to capture ordinary things that most people ignore, don't take the time they should to notice - for instance 'Girls in their summer clothes', he reminded me of things I never knew and should have known all along, at the level which he does.
It's perfected ordinariness or something like that, a simple, downtrodden yet perfect life.
Wow! Vintage Springteem... From, "Darkness" tour? Awesome. I just recorded Jungleland Live from his show in Orlando last week. Tell me what you think. He was very emotional due to the loss of Danny!
this the "Born to Run" tour. he shaved, cut his hair and stopped wearing that nasty ass hat for the "Darkness" album. He was 24-26 years old at this point.

Simply sheer Class.
But I would have to say I disagree with teenybeaudrie, I personally think that his best performance ever was in Slane Ireland (1985) was amazing.
Try to picture over 120,000 fans in one place all singing along to the Boss. The Atmosphere was unreal.

Words of BS, "You ain't a beauty, but hey, you're alright."
