You can finally see the short film 'Always Crashing In The Same Car' on i-Tunes for only £1.49 and it's yours forever! It's the only film to ever re-unite Richard E. Grant and Paul McGann since 'Withnail and I' 24 years ago! Who knows it may be the only film to ever do so. A must see for all 'Withnail' aficionados. Go to the 'Shorts International'area of the Film section on i-Tunes. Thanks Duncan.
Richard E Grant was born in Swaziland as Richard Grant Esterhuysen and studied drama at UCT in Cape Town, South Africa. He changed his surname to Grant when he went to the UK.
So now we know what the E stands for. His father, Henrik, is from Afrikaans extraction and his mother is South African from a German background. Interesting info.
ROFL! Always so funny, even in an interview. Wow, he's damn good at an american accent lol. Love him so much, he makes me proud to be british, a rarity lol X3 <3
SaraLou211, Take a trip to see the 'real' Britain, it's full of all kinds of people, losers, winners, dolers, millionaires..etc
As is America. Stop being such a petty minded cliched cultural stereotype chestbeater. You're worse than the Australians who come over to complain about our mild & moderate weather.
it is, thats why were culturally superior to the americans, we understand that failure is character building and that there are things more important than material success, or am i deluding myself? we brits especially love a loser.
i agree entierly, although success is desirable to an extent. there is of course the same me first attitude in the majority of competitive job markets, although it is true us Brits seem to empathise with a loser much more than the yanks
You are an ass. You know nothing of Americans, that is obvious. I have been to your glorious country. Most people I met were on the dole and squatting in other people's flats. A bunch of bitter failures. No wonder you hate us. Even when our chips are down we still have the glorious fact that we got rid of you pigs a couple hundred years ago. Thank God!
i do know something of americans, i have a lot of family in LA and visit rugularly, although maybe LA isnt the best representation of the US. Anyway you just prove my point about the US being money obsessed, although there are many good things that eminate from the US, it has to be said that it is also one of the nastiest and most narcissistic places in the world. The worst thing has to be your nutty flag waving, empire building, real politik patriotism? I wonder why the world hates america hmm

LOL. LA is not America, dear. It is full of narcissistic, money obsessed assholes. Take a trip and see the real America. BTW, nobody 'cept D.C. people care about empire building. Take your jingoism elsewhere. I never met so many rude people than the Brits who visit America and expect it to be England, Jr. No such luck. We don't want what you have/don't have.
Lived in California my whole life, in Los Angeles for the last 20 years. While I'm not sure I agree that movies/TV/Media in general is the ONLY industry here, the dentist story seems spot on.
I'm definitley a member of the "cult" that loves "Withnail and I" and can tell you that those of us who like the movie like Withnail for much that same reason Londoners do: We can relate to him.
My favorite place in all of L.A. is a British Pub. God Bless the Brits and God Save the Queen!

Brits can identify with noble failure because that has been the story of the UK since the end of WW2. Failure of the likes of Withnail runs parallel with the national experience since then or at least that is the perception whereas the US has experienced the opposite, always on the up. If you dont keep up the appearance youll just be left behind (Im hypothesising) . Oh and bless us by all means but please dont say God save the Queen, nobody here says that anymore except Madonna
Im so glad he chose to be a comedic actor instead of a super serious Masterpiece Theater type of character actor like Ciaran Hinds.

Eh? NOT Richard E Grant!! I was refering to SaraLou211's hackneyed stereotypical view of Britain.
Richard E Grant is pretty sussed.

Redferne's right about one thing. In L.A., you can't say that not working at all.
But the truth is, not all cities in U.S.A. think in that kind of way.
