I love Vince Guaraldi's arrangement. I play mostly by ear and I made my own arrangement that I would be honored if you listened too. I posted it as a video response.
s0ulshine - it's just one of those mass-produced, obscure Korean types. It's called a Karl Muller (umlaut over the 'u'). It just sounds good because I'm playing in a really large, open room with high ceilings :-)
Oh, I'm sure there is QUITE A BIT of talent that makes this SO beautiful, maybe the high ceilings and the large open room help to enhance the quality of the sound, but your God given talent is something that is greatly appreciated and so I thank you amaryllo
Wonderful execution, very well done! Can you tell me what type of piano you are playing? I am purchasing one soon and doing research on which to buy. I want a piano that sounds like a baby grand but is the size of a keyboard...LOL. Yours sounds real nice!
Thanks for the constructive criticism, Purpender. I guess my erraticism was just my attempt to follow Guaraldi's instruction to play it rubato. The speed-ups were likely done to make it have a free, jazzy swing feel with just enough structure to keep it carol-like, but I can see how I might've gone out of tempo. I also tried to make it sound as close to the original recording as possible. I'd love to see your video response if you've got one!
the speed change is just because this song is marked with many ritardando's and accelerandos to give it a spirted effect. you are right though there were a few hiccups but over it sounds like it's supposed to
Wow! I have been working on this piece and I know I will never be as good as you. I love this song and would be happy just to get that improv section just half as good as that. Thanks for sharing your 2006 Christmas with us.
Great Great Great!!! I'm learning this song on piano in the hopes I can sound HALF this good. Where'd you get the sheet music for the Guaraldi arrangement?
You really did well. I've been listening to Vince Guaraldi and plan on learning this as well. I enjoyed this so much, thank you for sharing it with the YouTube community.
i thought you handled the page turning like a professional, and i like the way you recorded this piece. Dark background with a black shirt giving the illusion of floating hands. Very professional all you're missing for visual effect are the wool white gloves, but those are a bit hard to play with
Hello, I am also practicing this song every year but never got the chance to record it, you're doing so good!
About the annoying page turning, what I did in the past:
either
1)Memorized it
or
2)Made a reduced-size copy (maybe 60%), sticked page by page, then you can play whole song without turning pages! ( I called it "my little cheat sheet" :D)
Hey everyone, thank you for all your comments. It's very flattering :)
Soccer7777 - My playing isn't the best, but I'm glad it's helping! This piece isn't as hard as it sounds/looks; it really helped me to listen to Vince's and follow along with the sheet music when I was learning it. Good luck :)
Very well done.

I thought the beginning was a little to erratic in tempo. some of the speed ups didn't make sense to me :\.
you did a very good job on the whole.
