After watching a walk-through of FF13, I felt kind of mixed about it -- really liked the characters and visuals, but the plot felt somehow "off" -- even for FF standards (basically FF is like modern kabuki).
But the one thing I had no doubt or hesitation about from the first moment was the soundtrack. This song and Lightning's Theme being my favorites. I can't get enough of this one especially, with the swirling piano and roller-coaster dynamics. I can listen to this for hours. (and I do).

Lightning is the most non-main character of main characters in the FF games IMO.1-The main character usually gets his/her special power first or last in the story while Lightning was second (first-Snow last-Vanille),2-Lacks the leadership characteristics like Snow,3-Unlike from IV and VII-XII the story doesn't center around her but with everyone,4-Vanille is the narrator of the story.
But Lightning maintains the main character part of extreme character development from mean bitch to kind badass.

@kablay1 The one thing that Vaan actually beats Lightning in for legitimacy as the main characters happens to be one of the biggest, and that's character centrality. The story may not revolve around him but players view the world from his perspective. Other characters will come and go but Vaan will always be present. The story of XIII jumped away from Lightning more than enough times to make Vanille or Snow far more legitimate main characters, Vanille especially.

@chony93 Because its important to see whether or not the majority of people hate a video. Example: A really crap video could have 500 thumbs up just because 1000000 people have watched it, where as a good video could only be viewed by 1000 people and have 10 thumbs up. Before I bother watching a video on here, I look at the thumbs up to thumbs down ratio. I prefer the stars system though.
What i felt about this tune is the feeling of going through hell and out to finally be able to stand toe to toe with the oncoming demise, not without an epic fight!!!
Such good music. The only thing I don't like about this game is the lack of towns to explore and... I guess thanks to the hype, I expected the battles to at least look more frantic and magic to be done differently.. more speed and some cool combos I guess.. limit breaks... eh, it's faster paced than other ff battles though so oh well. but the story as always with FF was top-knotch so it was worth it.
@VIIxKnives Maybe I am right maybe I'm wrong. How I felt about it was they were on the run. If you are convicted of a crime you're not going to stick around to get caught so, I can understand the less exploration and just get the hell outta areas. It has to have the feeling of being a fugitive. In all the other FF games time was not really of the essence so that doesn't play a factor. You could say Cloud was on the run but everyone pretty much thought he was dead. He had time to look around.
@atiyaadams12 That's true, Cloud wasn't under the same pressure. The fugitive feeling was much more pronounced in 13, but I bet it comes down to an extreme focus on presentation, while paying such special attention to story/backstory that ended up making exploration take a back seat, and making the fighting, while creative, a bit boring imo. A great game even still. Besides, any thing I could gripe about regarding battle action I'm hoping -Versus13 will pretty much make up for ^^
@Geioxion There is a kind of. They use the whole ATB-gauge and their effect is pretty much FFX Tidus' Slice 'n' Dice: Weak on lower levels but awesome once you reached the damage limit since it hits so many times. Or for Vanille it's the Death Spell. Every character has one and they all work differently.
You learn them pretty late though, in Chapter 12 or 13.

@Geioxion Oh, they are not really hard. The first one was incredibly easy and with Fortisol and Aegisol I screwed him over in 2 and a half minutes.
The second phase is the actual brutal fight, though you only need one thing if you intend to kill him in time: Poison. I am NOT kidding.
The third phase is easy, but its hard to get five stars. Once you stagger that guy, switch to Cerberus (Three Commandos). If you used Deprotect and that jazz beforehand, every hit should do 99.999. That should do.
@Geioxion Yes, freaking poison. That alone would kill him in ten minutes flat. You may need to recast it, though.
Try the following: Light, Fang, Vanille. Start with COM/SEN/MED to take the Judgement attack. Then switch to RAV/SAB/SAB to debuff him (MED/SAB/SAB if you're weak). Once Fang and Vanille stop debuffing, switch between RAV/COM/RAV and RAV/COM/MED to build up stagger. Once he is staggered, use Army of One twice, then go to COM/COM/RAV(/COM if Vanille can do that) or COM/COM/MED.

@windlance0 If the fighting was more like Kingdom Hearts in more games, the world would be a better place imo haha, but I was thinking more like.. with certain actions you input, you can get a visibly unique combo that's peformed. Like, instead of atk-Lit-atk-atk being 4 individual attacks, light would run in and, perhaps, slice the enemy into the air, lightning bolt them into the floor, and do a 2 hit combo finisher to end it. Something like that, more cinematic like they said it would be XD
@VIIxKnives I agree with you, but I think the reason they made the game with a lack of towns, and a constant "straightforward and linear" style was to stress the point that you were a L'Cie, a ticking time-bomb and also an entire government was constantly trying to kill you (the main characters), so you wouldn't have the luxury of exploring.
I actually love what they did with this game, it was completely new, and while different, it still had an amazing story, battle system and CG graphics.
@Jondude201 I can understand that, and it's totally forgivable at the end of the day. ^^ I'm sure I could think of some ways they could have reasoned in some towns and exploration for sake of gameplay, but even then I'm not sure it would have been worth killing the urgent atmosphere felt throughout the game. Besides, so much goes into making towns and such that it woulda been another year or so before the game released XD and that would just be upsetting.

Okay, every FF has took on a different style. other than the looks and OST the Battle system was the only thing going for it for me cuz most of all else was kinda gay, For ex. alot of enemies in-game were re-used only they put different colors on them... plus the characters in-game may not have been sheep like usual, but they were pretty generic..

snow is always positive and overconfident, htis shows in his fighting style since he fights men armed with rifles or beasts that are easily 5 times his size with his bare hands, and lightning is basicaly a non-emo cloud, aka stoic as hell, have you ever seen someone like that?
This music makes me feel like If I was wearing lightining's blade. Especially this part 0:40 when the party is almost dead and she cast Lazarus on a friend and says "this battle is ours!". It's really inspiring!
@renardo3333 "Lazarus" is how they translated "Raise" (to revive an ally from KO) in the Spanish version (Lazarus is a character in the Bible that was resurrected by Jesus, so I guess they chose the name from there).
@mmking9999 Chrono Cross is a hard musical score to beat. This one of the few songs i really liked in ff13.. the rest were forgettable. I think i like the normal battle song only cuz ive heard it so much.. for months before i actually got the game.

It has to have the feeling of being a fugitive. In all the other FF games time was not really of the essence so that doesn't play a factor. You could say Cloud was on the run but everyone pretty much thought he was dead. He had time to look around.

@atiyaadams12 That's true, Cloud wasn't under the same pressure. The fugitive feeling was much more pronounced in 13, but I bet it comes down to an extreme focus on presentation, while paying such special attention to story/backstory that ended up making exploration take a back seat, and making the fighting, while creative, a bit boring imo. A great game even still. Besides, any thing I could gripe about regarding battle action I'm hoping -Versus13 will pretty much make up for ^^

@Geioxion There is a kind of. They use the whole ATB-gauge and their effect is pretty much FFX Tidus' Slice 'n' Dice: Weak on lower levels but awesome once you reached the damage limit since it hits so many times. Or for Vanille it's the Death Spell. Every character has one and they all work differently.
You learn them pretty late though, in Chapter 12 or 13.

@Geioxion Well, Vanille will get her summon rather soon. Little tip since EVERYONE seems to have a problem with getting hers: It likes everything her classes do.
Anyways, if your thoughts are just a little perverted you will find her summon's Gestalt mode quite amusing.

Did you beat Rosh twice? Well, after the second fight, welcome to the last dungeon. I will give you some tips:
1) You can go back to the Steppe on Pulse now. If you need to level up, do that in Eden. You know how cheap the monsters on Pulse can get.
2) Just because you were able to beat the Adaman Chelis in Eden, DO NOT attack the Adaman Toise on Pulse. They WILL kill you.
The Final Bosses have 5/8/4 mill. HP^^

@Geioxion Oh, they are not really hard. The first one was incredibly easy and with Fortisol and Aegisol I screwed him over in 2 and a half minutes.
The second phase is the actual brutal fight, though you only need one thing if you intend to kill him in time: Poison. I am NOT kidding.
The third phase is easy, but its hard to get five stars. Once you stagger that guy, switch to Cerberus (Three Commandos). If you used Deprotect and that jazz beforehand, every hit should do 99.999. That should do.

@Geioxion Yes, freaking poison. That alone would kill him in ten minutes flat. You may need to recast it, though.
Try the following: Light, Fang, Vanille. Start with COM/SEN/MED to take the Judgement attack. Then switch to RAV/SAB/SAB to debuff him (MED/SAB/SAB if you're weak). Once Fang and Vanille stop debuffing, switch between RAV/COM/RAV and RAV/COM/MED to build up stagger. Once he is staggered, use Army of One twice, then go to COM/COM/RAV(/COM if Vanille can do that) or COM/COM/MED.

But dont I also need a SYN to make it easy? I could use Hope or Sazh but I dont want to deal with Hope's low health and Sazh is random with wheather he is good or not... Should I keep leveling my guys up in different areas than my original 3? I have all 3 originals fully done for all.

@Geioxion For him I use Light-Vanille-Sazh, just keep poisoning him with vanille!
Make sure you have protection against the move Death, he uses it once half of his health is gone.
But yeah, just keep surviving attacks, healing, and make sure he's poisoned. Simple!

@windlance0 If the fighting was more like Kingdom Hearts in more games, the world would be a better place imo haha, but I was thinking more like.. with certain actions you input, you can get a visibly unique combo that's peformed. Like, instead of atk-Lit-atk-atk being 4 individual attacks, light would run in and, perhaps, slice the enemy into the air, lightning bolt them into the floor, and do a 2 hit combo finisher to end it. Something like that, more cinematic like they said it would be XD

@VIIxKnives I agree with you, but I think the reason they made the game with a lack of towns, and a constant "straightforward and linear" style was to stress the point that you were a L'Cie, a ticking time-bomb and also an entire government was constantly trying to kill you (the main characters), so you wouldn't have the luxury of exploring.
I actually love what they did with this game, it was completely new, and while different, it still had an amazing story, battle system and CG graphics.

@Jondude201 I can understand that, and it's totally forgivable at the end of the day. ^^ I'm sure I could think of some ways they could have reasoned in some towns and exploration for sake of gameplay, but even then I'm not sure it would have been worth killing the urgent atmosphere felt throughout the game. Besides, so much goes into making towns and such that it woulda been another year or so before the game released XD and that would just be upsetting.

Okay, every FF has took on a different style. other than the looks and OST the Battle system was the only thing going for it for me cuz most of all else was kinda gay, For ex. alot of enemies in-game were re-used only they put different colors on them... plus the characters in-game may not have been sheep like usual, but they were pretty generic..
