Thanks for the help. I have a wooden top like the first one, and I tried it about 20 times and it worked 5 times out of 20. Needless to say my top got pretty banged up, but it only took a bit of sandpaper and it's fine now!
Thanks I used your tutorial to "re-learn" how to spin a top. Then I taught it to my five year old daugher, and she managed to succeed on her first try! Look for "Freya Spinning Top" on Youtube. Thanks a lot!
@darkness2197 cool before i went to usa, when i was on philippines my friends and i always play smash. we don't call it smash, i used smash so you know what game im talking.
i got 4 from the philippines and theres is a nail that sticks out about an inch and a half and to trow it you can grab it by placing the tip on your thumb then your index and middle finger on the top of the top the throw it straight down to the florr like if you were throwing a ball at the floor
Practice pulling it back up by throwing it as usual start then as soon as it is released from the hand, pull your hand back opposite the throwing direction. Practice on a large grass area so you can find the perfect motion. Wooden tops will work but are much harder to keep spinning on the hand.
Thanks for the new video. It is just what I need to get started.
BTW, It is obvious that you are a "teacher" because your video has good up-close details and clear, step-by-step narrative. Oh, that all tutorials were so well produced and photographed.
I suspect that your students learn a lot and enjoy every bit of it.
Rite on, its spinning!

GREAT!!! but you probably didn't know that on you first try with the wooden, if you kept it spinning, you would've done a skyscraper trick.
