  • A song of love and hate

  • la la la la la. la la lalalala......Genious without time.......

  • Poetic, dark and magnificent... Mr Cohen lends us his gift of viewing Life as it's seldom wanting to be seen, without the sugar-coating of 'happily-ever-after's'. No, "they'll never, they'll never ever reach the moon. At least, not the one that they're after. It lies broken on the open sea, look at them my Friend.. and it carries no survivors.." Brilliant!

  • where does the still at 5.50 come from ?

Girl on a sea front bench.

    let`s leave these lovers wondering

why they cannot have each other...

  • Eargasmic!

  • I want this played at my funeral...

  • I favourite L Cohen...I could listen to it for ever...to be honest it's all over the place and lyrically makes little sense but I love it.

  • @partyguinness Yes, but the music is so beautiful that it doesn't even have to make sense,... He's just painting pictures with his words that nobody can ever understand (i doubt that even he understands his lyrics ;D)

  • Beautiful with a darkness.

  • @yeahsee33

DARK AND LYRICALLY, A RELEASE OF EXPRESSION OF A POET WHO IS A NUMBER 1 OF A KIND....DRUNNK :)

  • its also a very sad song bought the album songs of love and hate 12 years ago played this song non stop

  • Very much about how the common image of relationships as exciting, beautiful and blossoming is a fantasy and the reality is much darker- a fantastic song.

  • Exactly. I agree 100%

  • I sing another song. I head for the Moon! And the counterpart of this song, sung by a woman is 'Express yourself from Mandonna'.

    LunaXme, Iwanjka, Luna'y

    Songology

  • he was healthy in the odyssey

  • i think this is one of cohen's most brilliant songs. it does what it says on the tin [literally]. after the lyrics end, he launches into the next one [as it were] even though it's still the same one. class

  • SOMEONE DID THIS ON MY BEHALF.

  • Great Vid! I'm seeing LC at Radio City Music Hall 2mrw night! I've been listening to his records. Songs of L/ H has always been one of my faves, especially this song. I have a dream that he'll do it 2mrw night! Last time I saw him/13 or so ago at The Beacon, I had another wish. I wanted him to do One of Us can't be wong. . And he did. Rave on LC !

  • A poet told me to listen to this song. I'm grateful for his advice: I might otherwise have missed it.

  • Genius I love him...the best in the world

  • Exactly. I agree 100%

  • ...glorious like the plague

  • No one does failed romance quite like Leonard. Great song! Great lyrics. "She waves a Nazi dagger!"

  • Leonrad Cohen is a good writer, thank God for him.

  • P.S. The video is great, too. Very atmospheric....molto bene, grazie.

  • Most under-rated Cohen song IMHO. Just excellent - thank you for sharing it.

  • My number one favourite Cohen song. He is the best.

  • Songs Of Love And Hate influenced me like only few other LPs..
