@imjoegrizzlybitch99 Well I even like them that much anymore I made this account like 4-5 years ago when I started getting into metal, I use to listen to rap lol but now I'm into death metal, favorite band is dying fetus
hail ouroboros, the drums do sound higly produced, but if you've seen them live you'll know that they wouldnt have needed to quantise or anything like that, they are one of the tightest bands ive ever watched \m/
Music better be evolving into this. fuck screamo. this is like heavy thrash metal shit. this si good cuz they're not yelling at you like litte shitfucks they just have a deep voice. which is godly devilish
@thefallingdream Sometimes the drummer uses triggered toms and kicks live. Check this out: /watch?v=UpiD29hPenc ...There's obviously no programming or quantizing going on in that video, but the performance is still very tight. Maybe he's just going for a sound different to what 'natural' drums can normally produce. Natural drum sounds on their own often don't have the clarity needed for a solid tech-death mix. That's why sample replacement and/or augmentation is so common in the genre.
@ArkadiusNEX The tones, velocity, strength of each hit. THERE IS A CHANCE, that dude either played an electronic drum kit or played a triggered acoustic then when engineering/editing each note was replaced with a sample. So theres always that. I guess it couldve been played and replaced but the drums just sound very unnatural. Who knows. Im pretty sure it was programmed. If not, definitely sampled and quantized
@lewman321 well, that makes it somewhat better but still....it kills me how processed and unnatural everything sounds now. I wanna hear REAL drums and nuances, REAL tones and not replacements. Good natural tones like on Slayers Divine Intervention, Taproots Gift or Mudvaynes LD50. Genre aside, those albums all have amazing drum tones. At least this guy played the parts tho i guess, but it was one of my guesses that it couldve been played then replaced as u stated. It just sounds programmed 2 me
@thefallingdream lots of bands do that these days. tons of them really. Even Tomas Haake used DKFH-Superior on Meshuggahs Catch33. In essence i cant lose much respect for him in particular cuz A, he can do it live and even make it better, and B, has written way more articulate drum tracks for other albums BUT.....its pretty much a lose for all these newer bands relying on DI/Unmic'd tracks or purely programmed drums.
@seehound619 Yep, this album is one of the best technical death released this year. They have been around since 2009 i think. They were called DRED. They even got an official video 'Absent From Entity'.
@voidofdeath I haven't fully listened to this album, but I think Obscura's album "Omnivium" would also come pretty close as the "best technical death released this year" so far. Ouroboros is a pretty tight band, I will have to check out their whole album. They sound simular to bands like Gorod, Necrophagist, Allegaeon, Carcariass, Woe Of Tyrants, and Within The Ruins... which is a good thing, because I like all those bands music.
Hell yeah, i want to see what these guy do in the future and hey dude, check out this band, maybe you might like them, they are underrated as fuck, they have one album, came out this year, the band is called sectu, they have a song called storm, check it out :) they're pretty good to me
