I always regretted how Geneon folded before they could translate the 2007 movie of this series, since it was a lot less bleak and spectacular.

I do like this remake, but maybe only for a few characters.

I know that this is based on a much older anime series from the 50s and 60s. But I find it interesting that the anime Akira shares many names with Tetsujin 28 as well. One of them being that the main protagonists from both anime have the exact first and last name; Shotaro Kaneda.

Im not a new fan I have gigantor on dvd I have also seen all of 8 man the original series, astro boy the original series not to mention plenty of other old animes as well. I watch alot of old anime. but this series is pretty good if u dont like the english theres a subbed version. Im no new fan either and for u to assume so is kind of rude. even the astro boy remake in the 90's was pretty good, and cyborg 009 was a good remake. hate the show for the right reasons not just because its a remake.

just because its a new look doesnt make it bad. Im all for hating a remake if it doesnt stay faithful to the original but most remakes Ive seen have stayed faithful to the original. hate the show if it has bad plot development , character development or bad pacing but just hating something because its from a different generation seems sad. things change and grow over time. and remakes aim for old fans as well thats why they call them homages.
