"Zombie in the dark" LOL. But if you can see the zombie, shouldn't you be able to see the front sight? By the same token, if you can't see the front sight, then how will you see the zombie?
i have this gun and it appears as though the top rails are permanent. they look "riveted" to the weapon. i bought a very expensive sight for the gun and it will not mount because the rails are in the way. can the rails be taken off and top of stock changed??
@beenschmokin I have seen a couple of Socom IIs with the rails removed. I would just trade for the SOCOM. It is a cross between the SOCOM II and Scout squad. The SOCOM a rail in the Scout position.
"to find a zombie in the dark" MY GOD THATS PERFECT !!!.. thank you so much for this review. I was looking for a rifle that is made by a company that tries to impress more than make monies. ANNNDDD for a rifle perfect for zombie hunting.... after winter is over the zombies will thaw out of their frozen tombs from where they got stuck b4 it started snowing :P
Your video helped me out alot when deciding on which new rifle to get. Alot of useful insight and very good information! Just got mine last week and hope you dont mind that I gave mention to your video of it. Keep up the excellent work and hope to see more in the future.
the optic shown on the cover of your manual is an Advanced Combat Optical Gunsight (ACOG). Btw, love the video, love Springfield, (I'm getting a SOCOM II and a pair of XD 3.8's eventually). Love the rifle. God bless America and God bless you sir.
Maybe some of you can point this out to me, but I'm failing to see it. What are the major differences between the Socom II and the Socom 16. The way I see it you are really only getting a heavy rail system that in my opinion is needlessly bulky. I love that you get the TM. Being in the Army I think that's hilarious.
Keep up the good work Sunflower, we need someone posting interesting videos other than Nutnfancy just to shake things up every now and then.
@SgtSly Thank you so much for your service to our Great Country! Your right the rails add about one extra pound to the rifle but you can take the side and bottom rails off if weight is an issue. My motto is I would rather have it and not need it then to need it and not have it. Thanks so much for your support and hope you have fun watching the videos.
@SgtSly i have been told that the socom II has a different type of gas block that is suppose to work better. i'm not 100% sure on that though. that is what was relayed to me by others here on youtube.
Bring enough gun? Yes To much picatinny rail? I think so. I was forunate enough to shoot the standard M1A with a wood stock. Walnut I think? With a 22 inch barrel. A beautiful rifle too. Recoil on it was fine. Though it may may have weighed a little more then your version. I still think you made a good selection with this firearm. Esp. if you ever have to go through a doorway with it.
I think you just bought a brand new expensive gun because you thought it was cool, but you can't use it, it is just a big gun that fires a big bullet that has to be opereated by a trained individual. You seem to get excited by some literature the manufacturere put in the box, that info is free on the net, get a firearm that you can use and that doesn't over-power you. Why shoot 10 rounds of 7.62 when you can do the job with 1 bullet of 9x19. Be safe.
@cipim3 Thanks for the feed back and I hope you had fun watching the video. Make sure to subscribe to the channel so you can be notified when new videos are uploaded.
I liked the video but I am not sure this was a review. It sounded more like a drool session. You didn't go into too much information about the rifle, you just kept talking about how cool it was, and how much you liked it.
@JERMBUGS I was was stressing out during the "review" that i was going to end up with a rust bucket at the end because of all the drool. Thanks for watching and please subscribe so you can be notified of new videos.
I'm all about Springfield for several reasons, but my only complaint about their M1As is you don't get a case with a rifle costing well over 1000 dolllars. I can live with the cardboard box I guess. 5*s again.
@eldogg4life I think i will stick to my 870 for CQB in my home so i don't kill my neighbors and their ancestors, butt it will be a nice accessory to have in the event of a lawless and no order society.
id put a 2x scope with bipod bro or just slap a eotech on that bitch

An ACOG scope would look good on that rifle. They are really expensive though.

I wish springfield would package the M1A's like they do the XD pistols.
sunfloweroutdoor 2 years ago
That would be something wouldn't it? The only bad thing is how much it would make the price jump. lol.
bisquik3006 2 years ago
how so?
I think they are two different beasts for two different type of enthusiasts.
I also wanted to ask if you intend to use this for CQB i.e. home defense?

sunfloweroutdoor 2 years ago
cool, i agree.
what about the packaging recommendation?
eldogg4life 2 years ago
@eldogg4life It would be nice if they included an extra mag (retail cost 30.00) a hard case(retail 25.00) and a sling(retail 20.00), Just a thought.
sunfloweroutdoor 2 years ago
Ok, I see...
I bought a DPMS that was marketed to have a sling with the package but there was none...lol
I bought one from blackhawk... oh well.
So it only came with one mag??? That kinda sucks.
Hey, mags for my H&K are $49???
