can anyone tell me where i can see the full original 80's series "day of the triffids" the one with john dutane in i missed it on a re-run on bbc 4 and seesaw the tv and movie streaming site had it, due to poor response they went bust probably due to their lack promoting them selves and their site is now long gone.
you can catch the series on the horror channel in the uk on freesat and sky all 13 episodes have already been screened and due for a second outting late march early april itv showed it 2010 -11 then itv sold it to the horror channel, i hear you can catch it on itv i player, check the horror channels website for full listings and theres big talk of them showing the complete tails of the unexpected series...nice if they do.
Aw brings back such good memories of when I was a small kid and T.V was excellent! Always looked forward to watching the Hammer stories, I used to get excited for them coming on. Love this music, never heard this full version before, Thanks!! ; - )
i still recall.... i was in junior school when this first aired.
somehow persuaded my parents to let me stay up to see a couple of episodes - there was a ' cool ' kid in class whose parents let him stay up as long as he liked who saw them all ( these days called crap parents ).
saw charlie boy and it was the most terrifying thing ever - as was the hitchhiker episode.
then bought the dvd box set years later and found them tame yet great - such is the passage of time.
I remember I was a teenager of 13 when the programme used to go out in the summer time an I would be half scared out of my mind when the kids where asleep upstairs and I be on my own watching TV.
Mmm. I always knew the opening theme had to be part of a much bigger piece of music. And that piece of music had to be assuredly awesome. Well wouldn't you know it, the complete version is incredible! I remember watching this with dad, curled up on the couch while he reclined in his bean bag chair. It's every bit as haunting and as chilling as I remember it ^_^
How in the hell did you spot that? Is that sharp eyes or insider info? Impressive regardless of source. It's a shame the 80s tv series isn't more well know. It's so bad in places yet so brilliant it could so easily get a cult following

@DalekBass that pentagram is actually real as it's still at the house and the tree in the middles is still there today. It has flowers growing inside the triangles that form the pentagram shape. I went to a wedding reception at the house around 3yrs ago - I was more interested in exploring the house than the reception
You can download this version to mp3 format from a website. Do a search on google "my opera hammer house of horror", go to the page and then right click link to save target as. I would post the link but it'll likely get deleted
@cdstum. I would have loved a second series. Guess we will have to be content with Hammer house of mystery & suspense!!! I wonder if hammer would still be around if they hadn't poored all their resources into Raise the titanic?
Lew Grade once said it would have been cheaper to lower the Atlantic! It because of Raise of Titanic going belly up at the box office that caused ITC to go bust which in turn caused the proposed 2nd series of HHOH to be scraped. This is a pity as it certainly would have been a bit different from the first series. Roy Skeggs had apparently had ideas of making some period story pieces, rather than the modern settings in the prospered 2nd series, much akin to the movie counterparts.

This music has always possessed me since I first watched this series ages ago on late afternoon TV in Denver. I LOVE IT! I don't know why and I don't care! The trees moving in the intro of the show, the man looking out the ancient windows of antique homes in the fabulous country side UK... All things British, all things UK 50's/60's... Emma Peel (Diana Rigg), Bond, and yes, the fictitious Austin Powers!!!!!
I've actually got this on original vinyl lol!!!!!

Just a shame ATV went belly up and we didn't get the promised 2nd series.
