I've searched throughout YT, and have found no evidence to support Randy's comment that David needs to put in more runs. Everything shows that our David A does do runs, when they are appropriate to the work of art he is creating. David is a song stylist. His gift is interpretation of music...and song. If he had this version out before the public, there would be no question as to his skill in rendering a song in his own "voice"

I love David Archuleta, but I hate the arrangement and production here. His vocal delivery can be much more powerful and soulful, but it's almost like he's just speaking here. Too "clean." I've never been a fan of AI's rushed studio recordings...

This was horrible. He is a product of stage parents who scream at him to perform. Heard his family receive twice the tickets as the other idol contestants. I've searched throughout YT, and have found no evidence to support Randy's comment that David needs to put in more runs. Everything shows that our David A does do runs, when they are appropriate to the work of art he is creating. So they are not obtrusive, they come from the melody and they respect the melody, or they come from the words and under-line their meaning.

His coach said that besides the cold and strep throat that he had, the biggest problem he was dealing with was that he couldn't hear himself over the music and screaming. So, he couldn't tell if he was on pitch or not.
I was thrilled when I saw him with a monitor this week! I guess he was really excited to have it and feels much more confident singing now. I think he did fabulously well this week and expect nothing but incredible performances all the way to the crown. My bet's on cutie DAVID!

ITA... especially for someone so young, David A. really has a gift for taking a song, understanding it, and translating that meaning to the audience. He has the sweetest, most sincere and humble personality wrapped up in that adorable 5'6 package, and that in addition to his astoundingly beautiful voice is what makes David my favorite contender. Idol's studio versions are generally pretty poor ways of assessing a singer's talents. But this works: David's talent is strong enough to shine through a pretty dire (rushed?) production. I hope that David's record deal will allow him a veto on production standards, and leave him full artistic choice.

Actually, I think it was a great way to show off what he can do , he needs to be able to mix up the way he shows his singing skills.
I am also very happy they had him do a studio version that shows what he can do when he uses all the words.

I love David Archuleta, but I hate the arrangement and production here. His vocal delivery can be much more powerful and soulful, but it's almost like he's just speaking here. Too "clean." I've never been a fan of AI's rushed studio recordings...

I like the live version of this song more, too. Maybe because it was live... ? I'm not sure. I think it does sound like him, though. Overall, he sounded much stronger in his live performance than in the studio recording to me. Nevertheless, I still love this recording. He sounds great as always. His voice is just amazing. (^___^);

This was horrible. He is a product of stage parents who scream at him to perform. Heard his family receive twice the tickets as the other idol contestants. Well, he sure surprised them by forgetting his words. I bet his dad gave him a verbal whipping after the show. It is a sad thing when parents push their kids and try to live their life through them.
