  • How much do those skirts cost?

  • Comment removed

  • Respond to this video...

Its name is "kilt".. you know why?... Because many people got KILT when called it a skirt !!

And by the way.. it's quite expensive.. a good one would cost you around 500 $

  • Mr. smeth... That's" Rowan Tree."

  • One thing everybody omitts to notice about these bands is the very nice tamburs in the background. Excellent play fellows.

  • Love the staccato snaredrums in it......

  • r there a lot of blondes and redheads in scotland

  • @Apink420

KeepEuropeWhite, although his name shows his views in an amusingly straightforward fashion, is correct. There are many redheads and blondes in Scotland. Not quite as many redheads as in Ireland, but there's a lot. It's a recessive gene in my family for one thing, perhaps my beard would grow in red.

  • What's the song they're playing called.

  • PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT THE SONG IS THAT THEY PLAY AT THE END :[ i need to know for music purposes!!

  • @shoppaholic613 last tune is called 'the rowan tree' or 'rowan tree' :)

  • @shoppaholic613 There is no singing here so no songs unfortunatly! However for your information the last "TUNE" in the set is indeed Rowan Tree.

Hope this is of help to you

    Rgd,

    M

  • My grandad fought at sword beach (on DDAY) and there was a lone bagpiper there who just played while being shot at.

  • some one in afganistan should get bagpipes and play them while in a battle with the taliban and to stand up and play them and shout at the end come on then u bastards

  • that guy in the fron with the mace is dangerous

  • The bagpiper and drummers had balls to go inside the battlefield without weapons!

  • yeahhhh moore metal music go go go XDDDD

  • it's great!, i'm from argentina, but i love england , ireland and scotish , because thats countryes are very quiet, and in argentina is all very wrong , oh i don't know if i'm speaking very well in english , i do the i can, sorry !

  • arreidiotaaa123, scotland, ireland, and wales is okay but england is not cool

     lol

    saludos

  • This is awesome!

    Your heritage is gorgeous.

    Greetings from Italy.

  • I love bagpipes! i wanna go to scotland & see it for myself!

  • So do I! To me, a band of pipers and drummers marching by is very exciting.

  • I wanna buy a bagpipe and a kilt but they r too expensive. in UK a bagpipe costs £259 & a kilt is twice that! I wish it was cheaper.

  • LOL. Are you kidding? Bagpipes cost at least 800 pounds if you want anything that isn't worthless junk. It's like paying 20 p and thinking you will get silk, then get sandpaper. Also, the same is true with kilts. A full suit that isn't made of trash is at least near 1 grand.

  • yeah you are right. but i went to Edinburgh 3 weeks ago and bought a kilt right from there, which cost me £70. it might not be the best but does the job. but bagpipes started from £300. i dont know the quality of them but it looked as they r alright.

  • @eranjenes It has tae have a really tight sew! ( these days the neoprene is goin right ) and alltogether is a LOTS far from 300 quid ! I learned me lesson from ebay ( grrr) ! Please Learn M8 we need millions more "PIPERS"

  • £1000 for a good pipe and you can get a reasonable kilt for about £200

  • so what is the song before Rowan Tree? It sounds pretty darn good.....what is this grade 3 maybe 2? It is good. Nice Tenor's too might add.

  • Murdo's Wedding

  • That looks remarkably like when Ive seen the Kirkudbright band with some canadian pipers joining them to boost their bands ability at the Gatehouse of fleet gala week on bangers and beer night, great band though, always have loved piper bands, what name is theirs?

  • lol he got half drum

  • What's the drum called at 0:29 ?

    It has white puffy drumsticks.

  • i think they are you soften down the tone of the drum. i really dont know

  • It's a tenor drum

  • The Irish gave the bagpipes to the Scots as a joke, but the Scots haven't seen the joke yet. haha

  • 'Black Irish' are the supposed ancestors of Spanish sailors who were shipwrecked around the coast of Ireland after the failure of the Spanish Armada, 1588.

Local communities were said to have taken these sailors in & protected them. They married local girls and their ancestors became known as the 'Black Irish' because of their physical Spanish appearance.

Offically most of the Spanish Sailors were handed in for reward or killed. The story is a bit of a myth but a good story all the same!

  • I love bagpipe music!

  • I was born in Italy, but when I hear the scottish bagpipes, I feel scottish blood in my veins! I like the Scotland!

  • @edelgran24 why we like iltalians too thank you and you have a good day by the way I wish to have REAL pancetta could you send me some lad I would really appreciate it

  • im not scotish but i love bagpipe music i also think i may have some scotish blood in me cause of my red beard and i have a good scotish accent to

  • The red beard would indicate Viking.

  • o thank you so i was mis informed to believe that i have scottich blood in me all these years but viking is just as cool

  • the only reason irish and scottish people had red hair and beards is because back when there was vikings....the vikings raped the irish and scottish women...irish people originally had black hair...hence the name "black irish"

  • shut up you english muppet

  • "Black Irish" refers to Scots, usually if means who went to Irland to make thewir fortunes.

  • @big0tone your right about one thing, the norse did steal and rape celtic women, hence icelandic people were born

  • Wonderful music. Thanks for sharing.

  • i may not be scottish but i love the music

  • just enjoy the music without being nasty

  • Bagpipes are awesome. :)

  • the Band Major looks good

  • we need this band to play at Quest field!!!!

    GO SEAHAWKS.

  • I think that it is safe to say that almost every culture though out the world has something that you can trace to someone else's culture, the key is to do something a little different to it to make it your own.

  • 1herp1 spare your backbone. Grassingtongreen, my point is that if your going to make a blanket statement, be prepared to back it up with facts, and then in true you tube tradition have those facts challenged.

  • He's right. Bagpips, kilts & tartan arent scottish. Neither is haggis.

  • No, you are not right .You are an idiot!

  • Kilts, tartan & bigpipes aren't even Scottish.

  • Ok grassingtongreen tell us about the 'kilt and tartan', most of us know the roots of the bag pipe,(But you will already know there is only one Highland bag pipe).I am a Scot born and raised, living in the US, and I wouldn't dream of proposing that apple pie wasn't American

  • Grassington's correct. The earliest mention of bagpipes was by the Greek, Anstophanes. Later the Roman, Suetonius made reference to bagpipes. It wasn't until the 14th century that bagpipes were mentioned in Scottish history.

  • it wasant invented in scotland but the modern day bagpipe that everyone knows about was developed in scotland. and the erliest mention was also in egypt. How the hell can he say kilts arnent even scottish. Grassingtongreen cleary has his head up his ass

  • They were actually worn in Ireland before Scotland. Many stone carvings exist from before the 11th century that depict Celts in Ireland wearing kilts. No evidence exists in Scotland that are as early as this

  • i dont care about your stone carving research. kilts are still recognized as a scottish thing a bit more than irish i think

  • So you disregard the truth if it upsets your distorted view of reality? He's right, kilts were worn in Ireland before Scotland. Anyway what normal man would want to wear a skirt that looks like it belongs to his granny?

  • why watch this video and insult people just because you clearly have nothing better to do with your life

  • It's none of your business what I do, you fascist!

  • lol!

  • I don't want to piss on your parade but apple pie isn't American. The earliest mention of apple pie was noted by Chaucer in England in 1381. The English colonies in America were the source of its popularity in America.

  • Like I said WE KNOW about the bag pipe, I can look up Wikipidia also. but you obviously missed my point about the apple pie.

  • You mean you don't want to tell the truth incase you hurt someone's feelings? I prefer to own a backbone.

  • How come all Scottish people have a chip on their shoulder? Make the slightest comment & they get all shitty.

  • emerald - You certainly missed piper's point.

Grassingtongreen - Aww, come on now! Don't be jealous of us!

  • vui no stati boni de veru!!!

  • their drum major kicks ass

  • Other than a bad 'f' the overall sound was good (grade level?)The pipe corps deportment is good just one drummer on the back left looked a little too relaxed.

  • I could be wrong but it does remind me of Corby Pipe Band

  • Can anyone help--I'd like to get in touch with the drum major--love his flourish routine

  • Me like Bagpipe.

  • ya there is a queen on the throne, tradition dictates they have to wear something under their kilts

  • no the scottish military tradition is to wear nothing under the kilt. just socks and shoes as my grandpa says.

    lol

  • most of those guys are young

    Christ Reigns

  • The guy with the bass drum needs a periscope ;)

  • The first tune is called "Murdo's Wedding" then the next tune is "Rowan Tree"

And the DrumMager is called Liam Christie.

  • Is that Liam from Thurso ?

  • what tune is this and what do you call the guy at the front with the staff

  • Drum Major

  • The staff is called a mace and is carried by the drum Major, the pipe major is usually in the first line of pipers on the right, sometimes the pipe major will march on the right separate from the others but in the front line, cheers.

  • Hey I am getting married in beauly next year and need a piper!!! Anyone interested?

  • congratulations for the marriage and sorry for the piper i'am not scottish though i like scotland like crazy

  • In which general area do you live? It shouldn't be too hard to suggest some names if you haven't already found a piper.

  • I am from Airdrie but getting married in Beauly in Oct..

  • they are called The Beauly Firth and Glens Pipe band....i play for them!! they aint soundin so good in tht video though!!

  • Hi

Can you put me in touch with the drum major--I would like to see more of his mace flourish

  • what bands that?

  • I think they were called The Beauly Firth & Glens Pipe Band.

  • omg am playin in that video!! lol... band is soundin terrible

  • Wow ur Pipe and Drum corps is way better than ours. Your marching is perfect, and i think u guys use the same hats as us. Way to go twirling tenor drummers!!
