  • do you need this type of installation when you have solar panel and wind turbine?? can you just hook the solar and wind turbine to the charge controller? is that safe

  • Nice. Good work friend.

  • Awesome Video! very interesting

  • they onely last 300 cycles

    on the battery

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome..thankyou sooooo much..you were very thorough,

  • a good system should automatically switch back to utility power like a ups in a way

  • Very Nice !!!

  • i was wonder if you can make an instructional video on how you made those solar panels?and if you learned how to improve the panel you made and share that also.

  • I would like to put together an on grid system.

I would love to see my meter turn backwards.

I guess you have to have the proper switch in place to turn power off to the grid in the event of a power outage. I'm still trying to look into that.

  • i am doing the same thing with mine but they now have the transfer switch with 6 breakers all in one box its a generator panel

  • Nice 180 Watts solar panels. Nice ty for video.see ya . 180/s

  • Is the hydrogen gas a concern I am thinking about buying some of these deep cycle marine batteries at walmart but I want to put this in my house and I was not going to be able to vent them will it blow up my house?

  • Vent them to the outside.

  • I have one right next to my desk (everstart maxx group 29 deep cycle). I put it in a battery box with a small pc fan that I never use, unless I am running a big load with the inverter / ups. I haven't had any issues yet, because the hydrogen disperses quickly in a medium to large sized room. Only if you are doing some serious charging / discharging should you worry about the gas. Want to avoid the gas issue all together ? Get an optima or some other AGM sealed deep cycle battery.

  • how much would you estimate you have spent .. great way of getting power i agree 100%

  • great videos dude

wonder when u step it up a noch

to actually get a check from the utility company

maybe that would shut up crybaby rcebooks and his crybaby hil billy bunch

  • Nice little solar system there. Mine is a little smaller than yours and im very pleased with it so far. I have upgraded a bit since my video, so please take a look at it. I do get a lot of encouragement when i see vids like yours. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.

  • What a shame dont leave North Dakota for sun. Ever heard the saying its a small world ? You could end up moving next to that PRICK. Great job every bit helps. The power companies are sending compact fluorescent bulbs to there customers. The PRICK will be sitting in the dark while you and I will have lights, fridge, tvand satalite. Good job keep it up. CHEERS WINDY NC

  • Shoner keep up the good work take no notice of the PRICK from RCEbooks

  • Here's your "Positive constructive advice": Get the FUCK outta North Dakota where you can't go out half the year and the women are shaped like pears! DUH!!!

  • Let's put it another way: Do you think it's particularly intelligent to build a solar system in a region where 1) it gets to -40 at night with windchill, 2) from Oct. to May, you can expect snow, 3) Sunlight is reduced by 60% during this period, 4) It's always windy? I tell my readers NOT to get crazy with this shit, or you turn into a crazy internet shut-in like "Boner" here! I think that's pretty clear. Oh, and RFID doors: There is no crime there cause there's no people up there! "You betcha!"

  • By the way it only takes about 9.5amps to run a washing machine at 120volts. So your system can clearly do this without a hitch. Especially during a wind storm. I like your setup. Keep up the excellent work. How many watts do you have in PV, and how many amps total for wind? Check out my home setup if you'd like. Later from sunny FL

  • @mrbuki77 Yeah, I'm waiting for a wind storm to wash my grundies. There's a plan! This boy is NEVER going to see a woman NAKED up there in his life, unless he brought one with him.

  • It will take the entire rating of the appliance to start it, then it will use 9.5 amps maybe. You missed to most important issue in all of this: The guy is not a licensed electrician and if there's a fire caused by that, his insurance won't pay out!

  • Let me ask you. Are you a licensed insurance agent or adjuster? Well, I am a licensed adjuster here in FL. And I do business with multiple ins. companies. And they will cover the fire, As a electrical fire is a covered loss. I think the area you are thinking about is home owner(HO) stupidity. The insurance policy will also cover home owner stupidity. As I had a file where the HO stripped his wood floors with kerosene, b/c it was faster. He forgot to turn off the pilot light, and up went his home

  • @mrbuki77 Stupidity insurance...lol. Nice.

  • If you are truly worried about his wiring, then since you are the electrician, why don't you leave some positive constructive advice for shonerboner. I have taken all the advice from my next door neighbor- who is a master electrician for 15 yrs. And I am bringing my system up to code. Not that there is much code for running 12v wiring and systems in your home.

  • Yeah, that's nice. I watch out for my own Solar Ebook buyers to make sure they don't get into trouble with this stuff. As I have sold close to 1600 copies of the thing and never expected to sell any! As to your claim about insurance paying out: You expect me to believe that IF any of this caused a fire and it is traced to his experimental gadgetry: an insurer is gonna pay out? In this economy??? HELLO??? Are all the components UL listed? Did an electrician check off on it for him?

  • Yeah , they will pay for collateral damages. Never the actual item that that caused it. In this case it would not be the entire system, but the specific item. Such as a wire between items. Or a meter and such. Whats really funny is that the ins. co. would pay to replace all of the other solar items that were damaged by the fire. If you look at your policy, you under exclusions of coverage. You won't find any solar being excluded from coverage. It's not me telling you its covered.

  • The comment below is for RCEbooks, who clearly does not do his research prior to posting his thoughts.

  • @mrbuki77 I know ENOUGH not to use Chinese batteries from Walmart, how's that genius?

  • Very cool setup!.hope you dont run out of batteries. let the sun come out!

  • kool set up!

  • yeah, here's a COMMENT: show us ANY major appliance running off this stuff! ND is the CHEAPEST utility service in the USA and you are worried about 'peak oil" which if it ACTUALLY HAPPENED, there would be NO service coming to you, no food in any store, no society and total anarchy! Your energy and efforts are completely misplaced isolating yourself for a very LONELY life! I lived there, I know the "OH.... you betcha!" mindset! SHOW ME A WASHING MACHINE RUNNING!

  • Your short sightedness is visible in your limited vision. It's not a matter of running your washing machine or dish washer. But 1st making yourself more self reliant. Then, selling the extra power back to the utility company, so the blind guy next door. You in this case. Pays for the power I create for free. And when there is that occasional power loss, I have power and you don't. My food stays good, and your spoils. Natural disasters do happen. KATRINA says it all. Be prepared, its your choice

  • @mrbuki77 We get lots of hurricanes here in Jamaica, my small solar system runs perfectly during/after a hurricane, i got lights when other people are lighting candles. Best investment i have made in a long time.

  • awesome job dude!!

Im gonna try something much smaller, but im very exited about it, my dad is an electrician, so he will help me along

Btw, i won 100, 2 watt solar cell and im gonna try to make 3 panels out of it.

  • Great system, very similar to what I use in Northern Ontario. We have no hydro, we use a Diesel generator when there is no sun, or when we need to use heavy appliances.

  • Nice Work on the setup! 5 stars!

  • AWESOME setup amigo!

  • Five Stars!!

  • 5 Stars!!!

  • want 25% extra power? use a directional solar panel postioning rig to follow the sun. helps collect the sun in those out of position sun moments. low cost. top set up im impressed with this set up. kind regards ps........... england has very little sun and panels cost double more than anywhere in the world

  • Thanks for the very excellent explanations about how it is all integrated and implemented. It is very good to see someone doing it really right instead of just cobbling things together. I plan to have a new type of wind turbine up and running soon, so these videos are very helpful. It should put out about 1200 watts max with the alternator I will be running initially, but I may need a larger permanent magnet alternator or generator to fully use all of the rotor power in higher winds. Stan~

  • This is the best system I have seen! keeping it smart and simple!

  • Great details, thanks so mucho for taking the time. i dream of a set like yours, but down here (dominican republic) is not as easely reachable eventhough should be backwards.

  • sweet work!

    loving the detail

  • Nice set up...$6,000 and you're off the grid!

  • Hi there! I do have one question.. in regards to the batteries you have wired in parallel... do you have any diodes in between them? For some reason, someone told me that when lots of batteries are connect in parallel you need isolation diodes? I don't know why but maybe you can shed some light on the subject? Great video by the way!

  • very nice video, how long can your system power your house lights if you just go off grid? I'm trying to build a system like yours.

    thanks

  • great vid guys keep them coming
