HNIC, that socialist, marxist, communist half foreigner has just destroyed the once biggest mightiest company in the world, GM, from within' . His $60 billion meddling wasted tax payers money more than Madoff ever could.
Well just remember that the HC(cracker)IC started all of this sh*t last year when he okayed the bailing out of banks. Oh and the war.........we were doomed a long time ago.
Once again, Ralph Nader is right on target with his comparison of the original Chrysler bailout (over 25 years ago) with the current Auto bailout. In the first Chrysler bailout, Washington guaranteed loans and did not give any direct cash. And even more importantly it was done in a transparent way with healthy, heated debates.
GM is a dichotomy: It has been innovative with prototypes such as the EV1. It has also built some real dogs.
It is wrong to blame the Unions. The Toyota Matrix and the Pontiac Vibe are both built at the same plant in Fremont, CA by US workers. Several Honda and Toyota models are made in the US. Ultimately, GM was run by highly overpaid executives who just got too fat.
Even if Executive pay was $100 million a year, which it's not, it is still a drop in the bucket compared to the union workers of GM earning
$25 more per hour than non union workers for Toyota. With 400,000 employees in the 70's we'll cut that down to $5 more an hour
$2 million/hr $80 million/wk $4 billion/yr
Today with 60,000 x$25=$1.5million/hr The CEO's annual salary is just a few hours of union losses and you think greedy execs caused the downfall. Really??
The problem with American cars isn't a cost issue or even an assembly line quality control issue. Its with their outdated designs that no one wants.
On another note, creative Financial Executives preach free trade until they run into trouble, then these mama's boys come running home for a bailout from the taxpayers and Bush gave it to them with no strings attached. Sadly, the current administration is following in their footsteps, which shows you how corrupt things are.

Ralph Nader tells it like it is. HNIC does not.

HNIC should have let GM die a natural death.

Do you have a calculator?
