Turkic Tribes did live in Caucasian Albania 4000 years ago. They were the Oghuz Turk Tribes in North Azerbaijan, and the South Azerbaijan(today's iran) was Tomris Turk Tribes living there 4000 years ago, then Persians and Iranized the Azeris/Oghuz Turks and called them Atupatakans(atropats), but Azeris were Turks.
around 11th century the Seljuk Turks came and they wanted the Azeris/Oghuz Turks back from Iran, so they did. AND took the name from Aturpatakan and put it in North whic, Azerbaijan.

Turkic Tribes did live in Caucasian Albania 4000 years ago. They were the Oghuz Turk Tribes in North Azerbaijan, and the South Azerbaijan(today's iran) was Tomris Turk Tribes living there 4000 years ago, then Persians and Iranized the Azeris/Oghuz Turks and called them Atupatakans(atropats), but Azeris were Turks.
around 11th century the Seljuk Turks came and they wanted the Azeris/Oghuz Turks back from Iran, so they did. AND took the name from Aturpatakan and put it in North whic, Azerbaijan.

Back then, there were no such thing as an "Azeri" (Ethnically atleast). Old Azerbeyjan consisted of mainly TAt Persian speaking people. Turks or Turkic speakers did not live in the midd-east back then, they were still in central asia, and were in noways close to the persian provinces.
Azeri itself is a Persian word (from old middle-Persian pahlavi) meaning fire, and Azerbeyjasn is a old Persian word that means the land of fire.
