how could the controller send a message to his wife saying he had a crash and that hes not ok and he doesnt want to talk about it?? What wife going to feel at that point, husband has this shit going on and he wont let her help. yeah yeah i know he was afraid he would break down but still
@BrownSound777 Wrote: "In all the other videos they always say crashes are "NEVER" the result of a single event.....Flight 1549 accident shows that the "NEVER" single event theory should be toned down."
Actually, that theory still applies:
1.) Had Capt. Sullenberger and Capt. Skyles not shown up for work that day, they wouldn't have been aboard the plane.
2.) Had they not become pilots, they wouldn't have shown up for work on Cactus 1549.
Canadian Geese are a nuisance, they shit up the grass in the parks, ponds, beaches and golf courses here in NYC. Unfortunately this area is a year round habitat for them and the have little to no natural predators anymore.
@BrownSound777 If the plane had taken off just a few seconds sooner or later they may not have hit the birds. If the flight crew had chosen a slightly different path or the winds had changed they may not have hit the birds. "Events" don't necessarily mean "mistakes" or "problems".
True respect for Pilot's precise conversation and professional behavior with Co-Pilot and Flight Controller during emergency, but with the Passengers he should have atleast said a few more words to make them prepare for impact.
@shanky2609 That is what the flight attendants are trained for. When the captain tells the passengers via intercom to brace for impact, it is then up to the attendants to start issuing instructions for doing so. The pilot, obviously, needed his full concentration on what he was doing to ditch that plane in the Hudson River, as it is very rare that a water landing is successful.
I was in that plane and i am not joking i live in new york and i cant belive i survived that. I thought i would die . It is really hard to sleep cause its scary its just i dont knoe frightning but that capitan i owed him his life!
poor birds they should invent something to let pilots know their birds around thm cause birds have more of a right to be in the sky than a plain or pilot has they were born to fly. It not the birds fault after all.
@silvereagle2061 No, we don't see Capt. Sully, but we do get to hear Captain Jeff's accounting of The Saga of Cactus 1549. The world has shown Captain Sully well deserved accolades and adulation, but Captain Jeff was every bit as much a part of this victory.
I know it must be hard to think of what to do in those circumstances but those passengers should have known the procedure. Anyone that flies should already know the brace position and floatation locations. Most of it is part of the safety briefing.
Also, shame on that guy for having his phone turned on :)
Why the captain Sully Sullenberger didn't comment anything in this documentary? He was the superhero in the case. Commonly, in past Series of Air Crash Investigation many of the captain who did survived from some air crash disaster may have comment from their side.
Airbus builds very sturdy airplanes, but none can truly float like a boat. And Rolls Royce did not design engines with them thinking of a collision with birds. The birds completely destroyed the engines and robbed them of air. Great landing.
I fly the same type of aircraft, Airbus 320. Cpt Sully's performance was extremely professional - same goes for the First Officer. Sully's genious move was to skip the emergency checklist and start by switching the APU on. That probably saved them!
@invitation2die One thing I did notice: This was not the same "Crash Position" that we saw in the movie "Airplane".
Another thing I noticed; The narrator stated that the AirbusA320 was worth $75 million. According to Captain Sullenberger, the Airbus was only worth a little over $60 million.
@invitation2die NTSB was in a very precarious position here. They had to conduct a very thorough investigation; not for the purpose of fault-finding, but rather from the standpoint of trying to learn from what happened, and hopefully prevent a re-occurrence.
What I still don't understand is how they managed to move the aircraft from the Hudson, and moved it through the streets.
why did the engines continue to make noise after they had quit? and when sully pulled the throttles, the sound got louder and higher, not quieter and lower
@jfsa380 The APU has to be started in order to start the engines, also because it was their only power source at the time, it must have beem that even though it's in the tail. It's either the APU being started or the engines, the both sound the same from the inside.

Why did that narration call them General Electric engines? I thought Airbus uses Rolls Royce engines.

@dunbar9finger Not on all their aircraft, Airbus A320 has 3 possible manufactured engines, none of them are Rolls Royce.
