  • Franz Ferdinand doesn't ever have this style, besides this song. I think the LCD:SS version is better, but I suppose this one is worthy enough.

  • As much as I love Franz Ferdinand, the original is better, more raw, pure and emotional.

  • this kills lcd version, absolutely rapes in in it's entirety

  • Nice effort by FF, but if you really like this song check out John Cale's version

  • Jonifico's right

  • The riff at the end could make for an entire new song.

  • ouch, stickin with the original

  • Love this song.

  • How can FF have it? They didn't even write the song.

  • @TheDanbadams

What do you mean? It's a cover, you don't have to write a song to play it...Bands are allowed to do that, they just can't take full credit - as in songwriting and whatnot

  • Oddly enough, i prefer the original, something about it, I just like more...

  • @ratdude010: That's not odd at all. LCD is just incredibly awesome period, therefore making it difficult to triumph. The original just seems more fitting to me for the song's subject matter.

  • 5 minutes in & a new level! +0p$#!+

  • what a brilliant interpretation, I love it

  • I think FF has it ....

  • This cover -> A good cover.

The original song -> A whole experience

My favourite band is Franz Ferdinand, don't get me wrong ;)

  • LCD being covered by FF with a HEAVY dose of Joy Division influence...I love it.

  • I really like it when a band covers one of my favourite songs and they make it their own. Much respect to Franz Ferdinand

  • I love this one so much more

  • This version's great, but it's missing my favourite part of the original: that long, long, long piano instrumental build.

  • Look at all you indie kids, supporting each other's viewpoints and whatnot.

    Stop it, just stop it.

  • I kind of want to post "I love the franz ferdinand version better" here, and "I love the LCD soundsystem version better" on the LCD soundsystem video page, and see if I make it to, or close to, top comments in both.

But really I'd rather just cut to the chase and show my point.

  • What album is this on?

  • @ConfusedProud A Bunch Of Stuff. It's was released by LCD Soundsystem

  • like the music better with this version but still love lcd soundsystem

  • WAY WAY BETTER VERSION

  • so much energy, can't get enough of this song

  • I'll always love you, FF!

  • Feliz dia del amigo! Jojojo.

  • @MrAxelRikard

    felíz día! jajajaja :)

  • @solecipollari

    Feliz día, Sole! jajajajaja.

  • God, this video is so bad that it's distracting from the song. I'm all for experimental film, but this is just BAD.

  • @funx24X7 Isn't that sort of the point of the comments area? Personally I scroll down here to read peoples opinions, anecdotes and share my opinion. Having a debate about what works better in what version is surely worthwhile. like @xiempie that's worth reading

  • wow this version sounds a lot different than the lcd soundsystem version. Personally i like franz ferdinad as a band better but i like the lcd soundsystem version of the song better. but either way their both great ongs and bands

  • Great cover, but I prefer LCD's version, the build-up is amazing and the wall of sound towards the end is just overwhelming, so fucking awesome. I consider it as one of the best tracks of the 00's. But it's cool to see that FF made something different out of it and not fucking it up. Sound quality is shite though

  • Man, can't anyone cover a song without people arguing about what version is better? Just enjoy the music.

  • I want a new album of Franz Ferdinand NOW! :D

  • It is possible that neither version is better, they're just both different. You can like both - it's not like the democrats vs republicans.

  • what the fuck am I watching?!

  • good cover. franz ferdinand's style is all over this song

  • The LCD version is better but i just love that franz and lcd cover each others songs. they are like minded musicians, and theyve both taken things from each other i think

  • Love Will Tear Us Apart

  • @ams1230 No it won't, relax. I'll Always be by your side

  • this version is a lot more punky

  • amazing cover

    respect

  • this song is badass in fully flared

  • This one's alright but the original is just on a league of its own

  • obviously james murphy liked it, considering he included it on the "all my friends" single.

  • Win

  • wtf vid . lol

  • The Franz Ferdinand Version is constructed more solidly and they get the chance to show off their musical ability, while the original has a lot more depth and honesty to it....Honestly I think both are fantasic.

  • Poor.

  • straight up, franz rocks it

  • i dont know. when i first heard the original there was so much more feeling into it you know?

like when i listened to this, it was... different? like, something was missing?

i like franz ferdinand, and ive seen them live, it's just... theres something missing from this.

and i really think that it's the passion and feeling that james murphy put into it.

  • i know the the girl is from the royal we but i still dont know if shes a girl or not

  • I feel this version's a little less pretentious and much fuller than the original. To each his own though, really.

  • I could listen to this all day.

  • I enjoy the Franz Ferdinand version more just to be honest.

  • Brilliant - both versions are. I hope their next album has this sound. Less electronic, more rock. Either way, can't wait for the next album!!

  • this song looks great in the Lakai video!!!!!!!!

  • @Emmmericaa ya man, thats where i heard this song first!! roll for life

  • This version is fun. LCD gives you chills. Just fucking brilliant.

  • Franz Ferdinand left out "With a face like a dad and a laughable stand..."

  • i like this version better, but that's my opinion

  • Just as emotionally fuelled and touching as the first one. I listen to this one more, though.

  • no contest LCD

  • this was a song for charity, its stupid discuss about, its obvious the original is better but when Franz Ferdinand plays its originals no one is better.

  • Fully Flared!!

  • i just cant feel the emotion like i did in the original. easily one of the best songs ever written.

  • Cover's can be better than the original. Many are. This is not the case here, not even close. The original was an instant classic. This is...clearly not. If this was the original recording of the song, it would have been more or less instantly forgotten in FF's catalog.

  • LAKAI

  • @vans4694 end credits song yup

  • so mutch better then LCD soundsystem

first of all its because they are scottish

  • @bartieboy93 NO.

  • their are two verisions of their cover.... has anyone got the second that was on Can't Stop Feeling 7"

  • To be honest I don' t know wich is better, if the original, if this cover, but who cares, the both are amazing, just listen and stop writting comments.

  • this is way better then LCD's version and this is a cover!

  • @Gatakumo No one could make a song better than the original band. It's their song. They wrote it how they want. Fuck off.

  • @Bernardusaurus Now see, that does not make sense because here is the cover and it is WAY better then the original so yeah.

  • @Gatakumo Okay. Let me try again. This is a COVER. It's their interpretation of Soundsystem's song. It's not meant to be better or worse than the original. They're two different things. They didn't cover this to try and be better. Therefore, the original writers' version is the best. No one could play it better. The same goes for any song. Anyone could learn to copy a song. The talent comes from writing it. Not playing it.

  • @Bernardusaurus Bull shit, TONNES of covers of songs are better then the original like A Static lulabyes version of Toxic. I don't really like the song, but compared to britney's original poppy ass version, it DESTROYS. Also, THERE ARE TONNES OF SONGS COVERED WHERE THE TALENT COMES FROM HOW THE ORIGINAL IS PLAYED

All along the Watchtower, covered by Jimi Hendrix for example. Totally punches the original in the face IN PLAYING STYLE. You don't hear jack shit about the original.

  • @Gatakumo

Jimi's best isn't even one of Dylan's notables.

  • @Bernardusaurus Also , it appears YOU do covers of songs , so you just called your self talent less.

  • @Gatakumo I don't have the talent to come up with the drum parts I cover and will eventually cover, no. But I learned to play it. Which is exactly what I said.

  • @Bernardusaurus tell that to rachmaninoff

  • Yeah, this song should have just been left alone.

  • Ill take the original, it was more then a song. It was as said before an experience, an experience into the mind of it's creator.

  • Oh how I love Franz Ferdinand!

  • song from goofy vs regular 2007 bnqt

  • LCD Soundsystem's version is so much better; but with all fairness to Franz Ferdinand, Soundsystem made it a masterpiece.

  • Not as good as the original or Cale's version, but its alright.

  • waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than LCD Soundsystem.

  • In all fairness, Franz Ferdinand gave a good effort. The original is better but there could've been many worse artists to have covered this song instead.

  • awesome cover. more cowbell.

  • horrible cover. i don't think jack white could have done worse.... jesus.

  • Biebel: "CLIFF JUMP!" (que singing)

  • i wish FF faces would float around me that way as i lay on my bed.

  • great song, wonderful video

  • mas me gusta la original

  • I like this version better than the original

  • I like both LCD Soundsystem & Franz, but this version of LCD's song well ..... no

  • I can't buy a Franz Ferdinand album because listening to so many great songs in a row makes me lethargically jaded.

  • man this sounds so new order

  • I love love love this cover.

  • Heh, 1:57 looks like pyramid head...

  • Hey 24 People Where Are Your Friends Tonight??? Too Soon?

  • the 24 persons who disliked, do not have any friends ..

  • This is a pure copy of "Shake it" from Metro Station

  • @Manulion1er Ughh jog on! The two songs sound nothing alike, plus this came out a whole year before "Shake It" so how can it be a copy?

  • @mrtictac94 At 1:26, it is the same rift as 0:46 in the other song.

  • @mrtictac94 Sorry, it's not at 1:26, it's at 1:50

  • @Manulion1er I'm really not hearing it :S

  • @mrtictac94 You need better ears xD . Seriously, there is too much elements from other songs that we could find in it. It's like a "pot pourri". You take a lot of songs and you mix it.

    This one isn't original.

  • @Manulion1er Fair play, listening to The XX so much recently has blighted my ears from all other forms of music

  • @mrtictac94 I don't understand sorry. What is the XX? What is to blight?

  • @Manulion1er The XX are a really good indie trance band who I can't stop listening to atm, and to blight is to sort of smother everything else? Not easy to define for a simpleton like me XD

  • @mrtictac94 Thanks, I will listen to this band ;) .

  • I think this debate about who did this song better is completly retarded. We should look at what each band did with the song. LCD sang it a lot clearer and got the message across great and Franz just dressed it up a little more. BOTH BANDS DID GREAT DAMMIT!

  • This song makes me feel the lyrics much more. LCD Soundsystem still wins

  • I love Franz Ferdinand not only because of their own astounding songs but because they can really take a song and make it their own, which doesn't always happen with covers. All in all, they're just an amazing band.

  • whooo is that girl??? i think im in love!

  • This is by far one of the most unexpectedly best covers of any song. Well done, Franz Ferdinand.

  • Aside from the lyrics, it doesn't sound a bit like LCD Soundsystem's version, but that what makes a good cover. Great music.

  • Wow make a music video for your own songs you silly cunts. This wasnt even a good cover.

  • This version has nothing to do with LCD's.

The Franz Ferdinand's memebers have no the same creativity as the LCD's chubby does.

Alex Kaprano's is not as talented as James Murphy.

Talking 'bout the covers for this song, John Cale's is far better than Franz Ferdinand's.

  • i think im liking this version better than lcd soundsystem

  • the original seriously blew my mind , the cover is pretty good as far as covers are concerned

  • A virtually flawless cover of a flawless song

  • I love it when a band's got its own YouTube Channel, and doesn't just let its label host all its music videos. The big studios have a nasty habit of pulling content as the fancy takes them.

  • singer cant hit those high notes too well, kinda painful to listen to at some parts, but its good.

  • Lakai Fully Flared ! <3

  • oh how i love Alex Kapranos's voice. it's like butter <3

  • What album is this on?

  • can i just say, the video is very wtf

  • good work FF. i am a huge fan of Franz. but the original is better.

  • this was a song. the original was an experience.

  • @daboss1221

wiping my ass after I shit is an experience

  • @daboss1221 i heard them the same time, so its the other way around for me.

    definitely

  • this is pure gold :D

  • I like to listen to this + vuvuzela.

  • better cover then lcd sound system by far. would also love to see this in arabic

  • FULLY FLARED

  • @jokamund yeahyeahyeah end credits!

  • Love both versions!!!!! Music is music! Covers can just be as great as the original. Songs are meant to be song, they are not sentences.

  • Both bands aspire to perfect a dance/punk sound, full of complex arrangements. Only difference is that Franz Ferdinand are more rockish, while LCD Soundsystem is more dance (in the most positive sense of the word, without cheesiness. In short, both bands are fantastic and kick so much artistic ass.

  • The version from LCD soundsystem is great, but this is just pure perfection :)

  • Franz Ferdinands version is way better then the shitty original.

If LCD soundsystem would have covered this, implying that Franz Ferdinand came up with it first then everyone would hate the LCD version.

  • Never heard this before. Not sure why. Don't like it. Poor cover. I don't get why masterpieces are covered. If it aint broke...

  • karen o? is that u?

  • Great cover, well done, and I still think it holds the same honesty and respect to the original. Bravo

  • good cover!

  • ace cover but the original is better! one of the best songs ever

  • this version is good

but theres something like 'magical' about the original

  • meh

    lcds much better

  • I like this version way better!

  • Great cover. I love Franz Ferdinand but it just doesn't have the spark that the original has.

  • I slightly like this better than LCD Soundsystem's original.

  • Great song, sucky video. Sorry.

  • @slave2thewage I completely agree.

  • This is one of my fave song by franz , would like to see em live someday but i know there's slim chance for em to be in thailand again especially this time chaos in my country!

  • Yo Franz Ferdinand, I'm gonna let you finish, but LCD Soundsystem had one of the best songs of all time!

  • @misterinteger : so true.

  • @misterinteger Your comment makes me happier than anything in quite some time.

  • @misterinteger only problem is that they are american... and for some reason i mostly think that british sounds better.... not saying all american songs arent good, i mean i love cold war kids, vampire weekend etc

  • the covers better then the original

  • Thats how it starts :)

  • kinda of reminds me of in between days
