DLR was Van Halen, from 78-84, his stage presence was electrifying, along with Halens riffs, they were one of the best rock bands during that time. I agree DLR didnt have the vocal range of Sammy, but he made it up 10 fold in his overall performance on stage. As Dave once said "Sammy goes to parties, I am the party".
I agree, DLR did have a distinct singing style, and it worked for him. As many have said before, when Dave left in 84/85 to do his own thing, so did the fun and party type of feel about the songs, Sammy was lame compared to Dave IMO.
I agree. Listening to songs from the Dave era was for partying! Listening to songs from the Sammy era was for watching the news and checking your stocks. And the Gary Cherone era was for people who wanted to play Dungeons and Drangons. I'd take Dave any day!
It just sucks that it took over 20 years of back and forth bickering to realize what the fans truly want, and thats the real Van Halen back together again. Even though the bands members are now into there 50's, they still are 10 times better than the EMO shit the kids are listening to today, I just wish real rock like this will make a comeback soon.

Im a huge VH fan, but the days of banging girls backstage is long gone, I just hope they stay together long enough to put a CD together and maybe do another tour or two.
Yeah me too. They should at least do another couple tours and do a couple of albums. I wish the same for Led Zeppelin. (I hope they at least do a tour even if John Bonham isn't with us any more.) But with Van Halen now that they are touring they should do an album.
Agreed, even though the VH members are well into there 50's and seem to have some health problems, I still think have enough to beat 99% of the shit music they call rock and roll now adays, which is more EMO fag music IMO. My main concern is Dave's anitcs, if he could keep his ego in check, I could see them doing tours for the next 10 years and coming out with an album or two, similar to Aerosmith or the Rolling Stones, it's great to see Dave back in VH.

Sammy probably has more of a vocal range but I like Dave's vocal style a lot better than Sammy's vocal style.
