its interesting.. but i dont think i could do this.. i have a phobia of all bugs.. when i was young i stepped on a wasp hive by accident .. bad memory, so i dont like much bugs..
I want an ant colony but I live at one place during the week and elsewhere during the weekends. Will my unavailability for 2 days a week be a serious problem for the ants? Can they survive without hydration/food renewal for 2 days? Can I pump in extra water/food to last longer?
@amarnamriju No, ants should be just fine if left for a few days. Just make sure they enough water. Whatever setup you have should be able to be kept moist enough for two days.
Woah never seen someone so passionate about Ants, I've kept numerous reptiles however ants are something i've always found amazing but never bothered to keep them myself, maybe someday
i feed my first successful colony with a small cricket or small insects.i always weakend them by hitting them a few times(not very rough).the food is moving ad they love it
i have the same micro mini tank but mine has no plants and sand mine has nothing i just yous that as a ant farm lasius niger in it and i got micro tank at dollerstore
@skatingrules123 really? i thought they were protected species i think.but when your ant farm is small don';t have but if is a large then thats better
how the hell do you keep the ants in those cheap insect plastice containers..id always thought theyd just fit through the holes...any ideas is this possible with lasius niger??
WOWWW =D i have never seen anyone take such good care of their ants!! this is simply incredible xP. the ants probably can't even really tell the difference from nature and their ant-farm-homes at your place haha.
And LMAO at the part where you accidentally throw the worm box to the ground XD ahahahaha!! i guess thats part of the risk of ant-farming eh? XD.
much love, keep taking awesome care of your ants!! =D ^^
make a vidoe on ur wasp and why u have wasp collection food for ants what if they escape ???? infestation stings damage fear plz post a vidoe on ur wasp and mention my name that i requested it ur vids are awsome and bye the way ive cuaght 5 queens in my life lasius sniger and they all laid egg had first workers and died and i did the exact same thing as u do for ur mornin routine to them plz help me nad wasp vidoe ...??? :)
Hey watching the video I wasnt sure how you hidrated the antfarms... You see I just got a really big ant farm made for me, and Im really excited, I have just brought some white sand, and Im going to buy some Lasius Niger and a queen, but if the tunnels were to cave, it would be hard to recover from as its a really big farm... So im not sure how I would go about wetting it without drownng the ants?... To give you an idea its like a window the size... Any advice would be apriciated
You also do wasp? LOL and i love all your habitats you have alot of colony's! Over the weekend when i was on a Civil War Reenactment i saw some ants with wings on them..but idk if they where queens or not..my friend said they were termites
Nice video!! I have a question though...my mealworm colony has been going on for a couple of months and all of my mealworms have become beatles. But I haven't seen a single mealworm baby. I don't know why they are not reproducing. Please help!!!!
do you have any tips on keeping mealworms? the ones i feed to my lasius niger aren't doing well and i recently had to clear out loads of mites because it got damp in their home
@Smartster621atzcmd60 Thanks for letting us know, Smartster! Please write to customer service about this at antscanada[at]yahoo[dot]com and they will tell you what to do.
@ieatlotz Haha good eye! Yeah, I noticed it afterwards and I placed it (a Myrmica ant) back into its appropriate outworld. I picked it up accidentally with the garbage LOL!
How exactly can I start my own meal worm farm? And can't the adult beetles fly? I tried to start a millipede farm, but they all died :/ I'm also trying to breed crickets, not working tho.
@D35troy3r199 That sounds like a neat idea, but the only drawback I see in that is it would likely cause mold to grow easier. If you try it let me know how effective it is!
how do you keep them from comming out?

How do u make outworlds and attach that to the colony? And how do u make the ants make a colony inside the tunnels etc, rather than in the outworld?

bentleyboy72 1 year ago
@bentleyboy72 I also breed mealworms and now came the 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation offspring of the original mealworms that I brought at the pet center
the trick is I keep them under the drawer to provide heat and everyday I always put veggies and pick the old ones because they might smell.
do this and in 8 moths u have trice the number of the original mealworms you brought
