@gdwmontg10 - Yes she did smoke for most of her life starting at the age 14 and stopped in 1992. The cigarrettes really started to make changes in her voice during the early 80's and when she stopped in the early 90's it was a couple of years after that her voice started to somewhat clear up but depending on how she sings the raspy and roughness of her voice still comes out.

@ohhowsplendid - Yes she still makes new music and albums, but she never sings any of those songs. Aretha only cares for her music from the 60's and 70's, and Freeway Of love from 1985. Thats what she likes to sing, and not much else.

I love the way the band is playing this song. Out of all the times I've heard Aretha sing this song live to me this is the best agrangment they've come up with. They gave it more of a deep bluesy sound.

I love when she sings this song cause she always sings it in her natural voice, which is what I like the most. Plus I think her voice today has a more bluesy sound that works great for this song.
