Good memories from this vid. I remember when this first premiered on MTV (when MTV actually played music,) and I LOVED IT. I already loved their father's music, so I was curious. Yes, it had silly lyrics, but I loved Dweezil's ability on the guitar, and it was a fun little song. And yes. Dweezil was a very underrated guitarist then, but he is very capable to bring Frank's music to the masses again in Zappa Plays Zappa. Thanks for posting this.
@gawkkkkkkkkkkkkkk Well last I checked a liberal was in office and failing miserably. Because all of his plans are a fantasy. SO you should be very happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@jshkendra Then you don't know what you're talking about... Obama is very central... and the only people who think he's a liberal are people so far to the right that EVERYTHING seems liberal to them...
@UncleMilo what's not liberal about a guy who has exploded gov't employment, massive spending & phenominal deficits, double the debt in 3 yrs vs what Bush spent in 8 yrs, Obamacare, record food stamps & unlimited unemployment benefits, and the rushed depletion of Social Security due to this stupid FICA tax cut ?
what's not liberal about all that? yeah, sure counds "centrist" to me LOL
oh and don't forget class warfare. that's a Centrist staple! sarc
Dweezil had lessons from EVH, that's why he sounds like him. Insanely talented guitar player. If you haven't listened to his CD's from the 80's-90's, go back and check them out. He absolutely shreds and writes great pop-metal tunes.
@thetestingguys Check out the sick guitar riffs on the song called "Fugitive" by Whodini. Forget that it is basically a rap song but George Young, Angus Young brother is really awesome on guitar. Somebody needs to do a remake of this song without the rap and just shed the hell out of it on lead! Pass it on.
WHY ARE YOU ALL ARGUING? Frank would get a kick out of the attacks you guys make and the mud your slinging. if ya dont like it--- dont watch it,or waste time/energy on it. it is what it is. a friggin video---you wont get a didease from it
Dweezil solo at 2:39 is so awesome! I hope I can play as good as him some day. he must really make his dad very proud cause he's following in his steps
Who cares that he was 'only 18' when he made this. There are lots of superb musicians that have been as young as that when they started. This is awful and completely derivative. The solo os OK but sounds like 4 separate exercises rather than anything musical. I have no idea why people stand by this stuff, who cares.
PS Does Moon look like she could have been sisters with Linda Kozlowski from "Crocodile Dundee"? They have the same eyes and some similar facial features.
God, the memories this brings back! Moon Unit was SO adorable and I was really in love with her. Dweezil's playing was so crisp and clean and although he wasn't as popular as he deserved to be, his tone and chops here really define 80's pop/hard rock. Did I mention that I was totally in love with Moon?? Thank you for uploading this gem, SCHLEUFER.
I was just a kid, just picking up the guitar when this came out, and I loved it! I didn't even realize that was Frank reading the paper. I ripped off so many licks from this song, and still use them unconsciously today... Thanks for this.
I just bought a USA Charvel San Dimas off of E-Bay that looks a hell of a lot like Dweezil's guitar! When I was 16 and watching him VJ on MTV with his sister, I thought that guitar was the coolest thing I had ever seen, even cooler than Eddie Van Halen's guitar. I'll have to learn this song when it gets here.
As a side note, girls should still dress like Moon. The granny dress with Doc Marten's equals SEXY!
@dharmaseed That's Robert Wagner, "Number 2" in the first "Austin Powers" movie (but probably still playing Jonathan on TV in "Hart to Hart" when this was filmed). Man, I had a crush on Dweezil back then that was disturbing LOL

Okay...Frank Zappa, Robert Wagner, Daphne Zuniga, Charlie Sexton, and I know that blond from the snack table but can't remember her name. Wish this vid was in hd, thought I saw Gene Simmons, too, but maybe not. Anyone know any others in this video?

Okay...Frank Zappa, Robert Wagner, Daphne Zuniga, Charlie Sexton, and I know that blond from the snack table but can't remember her name. Wish this vid was in hd, thought I saw Gene Simmons, too, but maybe not. Anyone know any others in this video?
