  • What is the average age of the comment posters on this video? I'm younger but a big fan of 80's synth pop.

  • @Rollogic

it doesn`t matter how old you are as long as you feel the spirit of the 80`s....

  • Exquisite melodramatic slightly Scott Walker loveliness from the wobbly wibbly Blancmange. Would like to see this video on mobile pls.

  • I never heard the remixed version. It adds a little punch to this old chestnut. If this track is any indication, I have to disagree with You know that time, time's not kind!

  • this one of these songs that get missed when it comes to " Classic 80's"

  • Beautiful song! x

  • Wonderful song and i still have the 12" vinyl ! many thanks for posting it

  • My favourite song from Blancmange. Very emotional. They had the talent to be better than Depeche, what happened? They toured this year, anyone go?

  • odlot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Saw them tonight. Fucking brilliant :)

  • Shit video, beautiful song

  • Apparently Neil was as sick as a dog whilst shooting this vid.

I love the way Stephen got out of it, and all he had to do was jump about a bit on some rocks!

    Nice one.

  • check out ultravox lament.

  • perfect,goodbye,goodbye xxx

  • thanks for posting this , fabulous xxx

  • What a great video - you brought back some tremendous memories, thank you very much. I have loved the band and all of their music - if you think at the same time Duran Duran were on the front of a yacht in pastel suits, Arthur and Stephen at the front of a fishing trawler - says it all. I know which I preferred. Delighted to see that Blancmange back in the studio with a new album out Mar 11 and a tour to follow - will be going to see them in London. Thanks again - great post.

  • @TheMikeditto You say you know which you preferred but unfortunately the general public thought they did too.

  • Absolutely fantastic. WHY AREN"T THESE GUYS ON iTUNES???

(Well at least in the US store, there isn't any Blancmange.)

I have the whole "Best Of Blancmange" album on my profile if your interested in the (some) hard to find tracks, like All Things Are Nice, Get out Of That and more.

    I love you blancmange!!!

  • @dondocooperstein

I couldn't agree more. Last year I went on itunes to get some Blancmange and was SO disappointed they were not there. I keep checking every month in hopes they show up.

  • Great song from the 80's It was a time of experiments and moving music. I live in the states and it took me a while to find the LP as an import. Cost more than 40 Itunes songs for sure. Thanx

  • Viel mehr Gefühl geht nicht, wenn man dieses Lied hört. All-Time-Favourite...

  • nine poeple are retards

  • This is a true classic from the 80's. Absolutely brilliant song.

  • 80s rule!! yayyyy! love this song even 25yrs later..love the lead singer..Mmm Bought all their 7 inches....(lost many through yrs)..thank God for Youtube,..Im 13 yrs again

;-) very underated song....Im sure it will pop up in a car advert one day!!lol

  • <a student, a nerd, and a fan of electronic music .. proud of it too.

  • I`m 43 now and this song still gets me everytime i hear it! Just brilliant!!

  • Thanks for uploading , brought back so many memories . Amazing and very underated song ! The 80's rule !

  • This song makes me feel sad, uplifted, and somewhat inspired....inspired to do what? i don't know.....possibly sail into the ocean...leaving the cruel reality behind.... It's 530 am here and feeling delusional. i should be sleeping...

  • Never thought id see this video again, thanks JimEAPG, had it on a hits vhs but was lost with time, great tune

  • what a classic! like all of the 80's music. amazing

  • simply a classic .

  • great...the good old 80's rules!!

  • Superbe ... Merci!

  • Love the Synth Sounds. Sound like a actual Orchestra.

  • a.kamp1968@gmx.de

  • Bloody Hell !! I always assumed Blancmange did " Living on the Ceiling " and " Don't tell Me " and then disappeared . How did I go all these years without this EPIC song ? I'm not too far off being 50 now and new tunes grow on me slowly normally - probably ' cos I haven't bought any new stuff since the 90's and then it was an 80's tune lol. But this is sooo good I've already played it 8 times and I only just discovered it half an hour ago . Many thanks Jim for posting :) Mega Thumbs Up !

  • I'm sure this release had an instrumental on the "B" side any one got any idea what it's called??

  • Thanks for posting! Great band and memories. To be young again...

  • I thought this band was dark... but I have had correspondence with them and they are ab normal just like me.

  • they were fairly big, then disappeared-where did they go?

  • Good song, listen to The Associates Breakfast

  • BLANC-MANGE LOVE THIS AND A FEW OF THEIR OTHERS ESPECIALLY BLIND VISION, USED TO DRIVE MY PARENTS CRAZY PLAYING IT ALL THE TIME.

  • underated classic bring back the 80 s

  • 有難う。日本ではほとんど知名度の無い曲だけど、ホントに好きだった~♪

  • brilliant

  • All tracks in the 80s were great because we were growing up in them! Poor Neil, holding on to dear life. Great strings!

  • This is one of the most emotional songs i've ever heard.........! I think this one reminds me of ultravox's lament... Both equally brilliant!!

  • truely one of my favorite songs then and now

  • @Quadruplator wanker

  • I just started buying all the vinyl i had in the 80's again.

  • oh that takes me back ,,, wish i had kept all my vinyl now ,,,,

  • Beautiful string arrangement, especially the last 30 seconds.

  • Tolle Musik...herrlich Blancmange!!!

    save the musical planet!

  • Haste recht @ 1aonline

    Great Band!!

  • Gebt mir die 80er zurück!!!

    Scheiß 21. Jahrhundert!!!

  • Goodness!

I haven't heard this track for about 25 years now! It's on the "Happy Families" album which hasn't been out of its sleeve in a very long time now.

This is a great track. One of the reasons I bought the album back then in the early 80's!

    Cheers...

  • Hey,

Just letting you know that i've embedded this video on my music blog so if its an issue contact me :) Good song this, pity the majority only know of blancmange's living on the ceiling

  • abs loved these,if im correct this song got to numb 5 in the british charts, and is it true that one of them killed themselves, such a shame, powerful great tune

  • I have always loved this song. I think that because they split too soon they are underrated

  • einer der schönsten Pop-Balladen aller Zeiten !!

  • one Of the best Pop-Songs ever !!

  • Lovely Waves!!!! Blancmange!

  • Video has a touch of 'Titanic' about it...... Truly an 80's classic.

    >;-))

  • Ein absoluter Favorit von mir, ein wirklich wunderbarer Song. Ich habe das Video noch nie bewusst gesehen - darum ein dickes DANKESCHÖN ;-))

  • That guy reminds me of Billy McKenzie R.I.P Bill

  • Loved The Associates, I liked the story when his record company boss told him he no longer had a contract with them - he just asked for a taxi home, the record boss said ok & he took a taxi - to Scotland! fair play. Miss Stuart Adamson too.

  • Yeah, that was sad as well.Nice to know they have never been forgotten

  • good point but mackenzie but clearly neil arthur didn't have the style.

  • Living on the Ceilng was the only song you remember. Ah yes because it got in the charts and remember kids music that doesnt get in the charts is rubbish.

This song is a lost classic. Go back to x factor and Peter Andre

  • @elmlodgerecords No one likes a music snob.

  • @elmlodgerecords Get a life sunshine. Living on the Ceiling was Blancmange's best track, followed by Blind Vision. Both withstand the test of time. Waves and most of the rest doesn't. Back in the 80's the charts were not completely driven by kids, and believe me kids were not into Blancmange in 1982. This was music for student's, nerds and electro-fans. Don't get your reference to x-factor, since you don;t know the other poster, you are talking out of your arse.

  • @elmlodgerecords Waves reached number 19 in Feb 1983 and can therefore be considered to be a successful follow up to Living on the Ceiling.

  • I wish it was 1983 and I was 24 again sometimes. But then again I wouldn't have my wife and four awesome kids. :-)

  • I love the music of this song (very loud), a pity I never liked the other tunes they have made.

  • love this song first time i heard it was on way home from ma grandads funeral and i sat there in tears not been able to listen to it since....

  • New Blancmange? I hadn't seen that! Very Cool.

  • This is so sad, I almost began to shed tears...and I am a grown man...so sad...Great song!

  • tis rather good.

  • Jaaaaaa,Softi for ever - na und ! Hammer Komposition, die Musen liebten halt die Achtziger .

  • beautiful, thanks for sharing this video!

  • Love this song. Reminds me of high-school love in the 80's.

  • @exfuckwit

    wanked badly lately?

  • That's mean.

  • its great to do housework to.

  • This is a truely beautiful big 80's techno-pop masterpiece, by this fabulous duo, who had many UK hits, but they never charted here in the USA. I love the vocals, the hypnotic synths, & those strings are amazing. P.S. check out Mark Oh & MESH's version, it's very good too. Peace Gary in PA USA

  • never ever seen this video before, this song is in my top 20 songs. Thnks for this, will have to try find out how to download the video now.

  • Miss you Mel, this song always reminds me of you, 6 years together seemed to fly by, it's 19 years this july we broke up.

  • Brings tears to my eyes too for different reasons!

  • I do not love the 80's but this is a wonderful track by a great band/duo.

  • Brilliant. Videos not up to much but the song is emotional.

  • Nice song, nice period:Love 80's the music, no cell, no pc, no i-pod,no mp3.Less tecnology, but more feelings, more music, more love.

    rick

  • i just sent this out to a friend that i'm schooling on the 80's. also the associates "breakfast", ABC "all of my heart" and the art of noise "moment's in love". truly a remarkable time in pop music history. i was a new romantic, here in florida if you can imagine. they called me boy chris(gulp). i remember getting beer bottles being thrown at me by spring breakers as i rode my 10 speed bike, panty hose "dreadlocks" blowing in the wind, as i made my way to the "new wave lounge" in ft. lauderdale!

  • oh, i DEFINITELY remember you, "Boy Chris" ;)

  • werent they good. some great songs. nice to see again

  • I know this video very well, even though this is the first time I've seen it since 1983 when i was 15. I've never forgotten it and I still have my copy of the 45rpm record. The song never failed to send pleasant chills up my spine and it stil does. Bravo to the finder of this video and thank you.

  • Hmm,a swell doesn´make a vid;)

but i can see what you mean..point is,i "re-/discovered" this song(plus the visual bit) on youtube after 25(?) years only a few moons ago and since then i´ve watched it about 25(?) times,so maybe i was a bit too much staring at the monitor that night;)

  • The vid´s shit of course;)song´s great!
