hey awesome video!! hey have a question i am planning on buying a jk how ever not sure if the 6 speed is the better choice or if the auto is just as equal? if you have any opinions on this that would be great!!
while i drive a 6-speed and love it, i have been wheeling for years with sticks and it's what i know best. however, if you're new to wheeling, an automatic is much easier to use on the trail and i might recommend it instead.
hmmm, for $5000, you might be able to pick up a 97 TJ. as for how jeeps fair, i have a TJ with 146,000 on it and it still runs like new. the 4.0L engine is a tank and you will be fine with it.
ZX2ManDave: If you're tired of driving a stick, then get an auto. I drove stickshift cars for a long time and was ready for an auto tranny. My wife insisted that stick was better for jeeps, but I've heard several people disagree. I prefer the auto personally.
loralee347, your comment typically comes from ppl who don't own a JK and just read about it. The motor is quite capable of doing everything it needs to do. Sure it could be more powerful but it's nothing to scoff at.
Automatic Vs Stickshift? I want another Jeep, i had one years ago back in the 90s and miss it. But i dont know if i can handle another stickshift. All ive ever owned is stickshifts and my left foot/ankle is starting to give me problems.
So, does the automatic work well for mild to medium off-roading? I wouldnt be doing nothing major, no major boulder climbing or anything. Just a daily driver and occasionally a trip through the woods, mudding or snow.
dgrandfie: You can go with 33s and experience no rubbing with the exception of full articulation at the front wheels. You can see plenty of stock unlimited JKs on the jeepforum and jk-forum and you'll see plenty of folks running 33s with no lift. I'm looking to do a 2.5" BB and run 35s.
I will tell you this. I am like one of your biggest fans. I watch all of your videos and keep up on your web site. I dream that I could get (afford) my 07 rubicon to be as bad ass as yours. you guys freakin rock. please keep up the videos and the trips man. You guys are amazing I am a project jk fan forever guys. EVERYTIME I HAVE A FRIEND OVER I MAKE SURE THEY SEE ALL YOUR VIDEOS LOL. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!
yeah, it takes a beating but no real big deal. if you really want to get it out of the way, a lot of guys are starting to relocate them along side the frame rail and drive shaft.
lcve the first song!!! Who sings it? Nice JK also!!! I just got one 2 months ago @ LOVE IT!!!

Hooray.... for Jeep , for building a vehicle that gets the masses out wheeling with only their deep check books and BOLT-ON mods....
Tread lightly and remember real Jeep's are built not bought....

I have a 6-speed but have seen the autos do extremely well on the trail. And, depending on who you talk to, some would argue better than a stick.

jk are cool but the motor is a gutless minivan motor. Deffinately needs a v8 like a 4.7. Its ashame they are so underpowered.
