  • haha, a good one to cover, cool!

  • Works for me and after all, its only a bit of fun. Thank you to all involved :-)

  • I agree, love the cover, but that lyric change sucked donkey.

  • Loved this as a kid, but I didn't like that they changed the lyrics at the end.

  • This is great! Thanks for posting it!

  • May 1st 1776, the Bavarian Illuminati.

  • Original singer is better this the dude on here... In fact, all the voices in this version is terrible!

  • @Kranical agreed....too much horns

  • @Kranical mate its not meant to be serious singing its meant to be a joke trust me my dads the one playing drums i know

  • I can't even imagine how much work had to go into preparing for this: not only did they manage to stay on beat for almost the whole thing, but they also had to play non-stop for 6 minutes, which is tiring enough. Changed ending or not, these guys are amazing!!

  • All too cool!

  • That was amazing and yes I KNOW how hard that really was!!

  • I remebered this one from back in the day, classic stuff brought a tear to my eye.

  • you got to get saved to play real cool, loved that line

  • Good job, great cover

  • Very encouraging, as I'm about to start rescoring this. Hope to be posting it soon.

  • Love it!!!!! must be harto díficl to do that!

  • Pass a link!!!

  • I remember this :) Love the tune!

  • I'm now 56 years old and I saw this cartoon when I was about 10 (in the 60's) and this was my first encounter with anything Jazz. I owe this cartoon my Jazz fanaticism. I'm a musician (bass) and never get tired of watching this cartoon. Thank you for posting it.

  • @ramon5556 i wish i could live in the 60s, people werent that bitchy those days

  • Great!! I've always wanted to get this. It's the reason I started thinking about music...

  • Amazing!

  • This is classic, one of my faves :o)

  • "You've got no idea how hard that really is!" Haha. Da trueff.......

  • Does the soundtrack consist of...Bass,Drums,Guitar,Piano,Sax,Trumpet, and maybe a Trombone...Can anyone hear anything else?

  • He changed the Words, at the end he says " You gotta be Hot to play really cool"

  • @ObadiyahBlack

Actually what he said was, "You've gotta get saved to play real cool."

This must have been recorded at a religious music festival of some kind.

  • Awesome...one of my favourite cartoons!

  • i have this!

  • Fabulous!

  • Whats he mean when he says "I wish my brother Geroge was here"

  • @MidiRain He meant George Liberace, the brother of the famous entertainer. The lyrics mentioned him.

  • @AmonDevilman

    Thanks Man!

  • I Got This On Dvd...and I Watch It All The Time...This Is An Awesome Cover...

  • why did they change the end line "You gotta get hot to play real cool" ??

  • Comment removed

  • Awww poor wolf!

  • I miss this cartoon!

  • Went out of this world with out a trace

Didn’t go to heaven it was the other place

The big bad wolf he learned the rule

You’ve got to get hot to play real cool

  • what are the changed lyrics and what to. I first heard the Blackstump version

  • Got any more stuff by this band? They're gas!

  • THAT WAS BRILLIANT! Well done to them for pulling it off so well! So close to it that I'm gonna call it PERFECT!

  • bad ass

  • That SUCKS!!!!

  • Since The Belvedere Blues Band first sang that song for the cartoon, they found reality in Christ. And best of all, I'll get to meet them in heaven. You can too. Just accept Jesus as your savior and you'll be saved.

Also, there are other great music legends who know Jesus as well. Cliff Richard, Dion, Shannon Noll, Ronan Keating, etc..

What's more, no religion has ever turned people from dead set p****s to really good folks. Only Christianity has done that.

    Christianity PASS!

  • @richfolkes Um, those aren't legends. They're good, but not legend.

  • Most of you disapproving of the change of lyrics should understand that the greatest country & western singers were Christians; Frankie Laine, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.

Furthermore, Christianity is not a religion. It is a way of life. The religions which pass themselves off as Christianity originated in Ancient Rome in the 4th Century AD when Constantine mixed Christian praise with Pagan worship. I am a Christian myself.

  • I don't like how they changed the lyrics at the end, but this is so well done that I don't care. Very good stuff. Thank you for posting!

  • sorry my friend, the audio is not connected with video, and also saw him before and is better with the original audio ... let alone the classic and not be an ass!!

  • I cannot even IMAGINE how cool it would have been to be involved in this. Completely fantastic!

  • @ikespaceman - Man that took some practice didn't it. And we still made mistakes. Great feel though in the Big Top. Go the old RD-300.

  • religion FAIL!

  • this is my favorite cartoon.

  • Good cover. I guess since Blackstump is a Christian music festival, they had to change the last line.

  • man i don't like this version

  • I saw this when i was a little kid but its awesome!

  • great music cover.. but changing the words at the end to "you gotta get "Saved" to play real cook from "Hot" is like some religious bs editing for sure!

  • This is ok, but the original is so much better. Be sure to watch and listen to that one too. The great comedian Stan Freeburg did all or most of the voices. Not sure who all the players were on the original, but absolutely top-notch.

  • God bless you!!! Rarely will you find a cover like this.

  • Awesome!

  • Wow, that was utterly FANTASTIC !! I loved the alternate ending -- and the crowd noises -- they were obviously really enjoying it. Sure would have loved to have been there.....

I would love to see the video of the band actually playing it -- is it available?

  • @KarenBee09 No there's no video sorry.

  • good overdub

  • aaahh!! mucho genial es (L) :D

  • Wow, the original swings sooooo much harder its not even funny.

  • I dunno. The horn replacement on the ukelele was actually really clever.

  • I was waiting throughout the whole performance wondering how they would do the ukulele bit.

  • @thejobloshow I have to say. Sax was a good substitute. Both sound rather comical if done right.

  • I post at a forum where there is a fellow that used to see "Shorty" play in LA back in '47. He thanked me profusely for linking this for him. He used to hitchhike from March Air Force Base with a pal into LA from time to time. Better days, eh?

  • One of my fav cartoons.. Awsome!!!... nice one

  • wow that was an awesome rendition plus this was one of my fav cartoons when i was little. great!!!

  • Wish my brother George was here...Is that supposed to be a joke? Does he mean George Gershwin? Love this song/ cartoon. God bless youtube!

  • The words to the song when the pig is playing on on the piano in the house of sticks go: "Doing Liberace on the 88"

88: No of keys on the piano.

George was Liberace's brother who sometimes played violin with him. When Bugs Bunny mimicked him in a cartoon called Wideo Wabit, Liberace was there after lampooned on later Warner Bros cartoons with characters quoting that line.

  • Thanks. I'm glad someone could explain it, it always puzzled me. I'm a jazz noobie. Been trying to find more music like this. Not easy. It's like sugar for the ear. Makes me so happy. Recommend any artists/ albums?

  • Something I would pay dearly to hear performed live! Nice remix.

  • The Black Stump. They're famous for mistakes.

  • Stan Freberg's voice was much better, but it's a nice tribute.

  • Awesome!!!

But wasn't the end gag that the wolf went to hell, and the pigs said "You've gotta get hot to play real cool?"

  • @Number1AnimationFan yea man ur right it was

  • @Number1AnimationFan You're right!!! That was my favorite line!! Also after he Blew Up the line was "He didn't go to Heaven, but the 'other' place."

  • @Number1AnimationFan Yea and notice how the stone building with those fancy rich people is built in May 1st 1776, the same day as the creation of the Bavarian Illuminati?

  • @supre1026

On May 1, 1776 the provincial congress (of Massachusetts Bay) adopted a resolution declaring the province to be independent of the crown; this was followed up by the United States Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 confirming the independence of all of the Thirteen Colonies (from Wikipedia).

This was the official start of the American revolution. No need to bring in wacky conspiracies.

  • @blindavocado Why is the club exclusive to the rich and cool? Americans weren't like that back in those days...

  • @supre1026

    Yes, yes they were.

  • @blindavocado So they weren't a bunch of farmers that the British bought cotton from?

They were all people working in the service industries, rich and ready to spend money everywhere, slacking off as usual? That doesn't sound like the people who fought against the British for independence...

  • @supre1026

The founders were all wealthy land owners, many were Freemasons; a very exclusive club at the time. But that is besides the point. Dude, it's a cartoon. The animators needed a date to match the lyrics so they picked the date of the 1st colony to claim independence, I guess July 4 would have been too obvious.. Again, no wacky conspiracies needed.

  • This is great. Loved this jazzy cartoon. Still do

  • Sweet!!!!

  • Good try.

  • Fantastic stuff.

  • Only one real goof, and it came at 4:10 (the wolf carrying a ukulele). That scene was the money shot of the cartoon.

  • Was this ever released ? Did these dudes ever record a cd period?

  • Amazing cover Dudes!!

  • He's right any musician could only guess how hard that is to play with only seven people. That was awesome. If there is another band that could pull it off...post it. The change in the ending was nothing major, you can still see the cartoon.

  • Agreed,Burnlaugh, the ending was the punchline. I wonder why they changed it. That was so unnecessary.

  • Great cover - be warned that the Black Stump Festival is a Christian music festival in Australia, hence the Christianisation of the ending.

  • Somebody had to organize this. Whose that somebody? Fantastic cover. Congrats.

  • wwoooowoww

this is the most amazing cover I've ever heard before!!!!

a classic cartoon and played live!

    amazing!

  • too bad hey cahnged the final line which the best part of the whole cartoon. "you gotta get HOT to play real cool" Not that saved garbage. Other than that, those guys did a great job on an all time classic.

  • ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ fantastic ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫ ♫

  • HAH! This is amazing!! Can I have a copy of the tune?
