I can't even imagine how much work had to go into preparing for this: not only did they manage to stay on beat for almost the whole thing, but they also had to play non-stop for 6 minutes, which is tiring enough. Changed ending or not, these guys are amazing!!
I'm now 56 years old and I saw this cartoon when I was about 10 (in the 60's) and this was my first encounter with anything Jazz. I owe this cartoon my Jazz fanaticism. I'm a musician (bass) and never get tired of watching this cartoon. Thank you for posting it.
Since The Belvedere Blues Band first sang that song for the cartoon, they found reality in Christ. And best of all, I'll get to meet them in heaven. You can too. Just accept Jesus as your savior and you'll be saved.
Also, there are other great music legends who know Jesus as well. Cliff Richard, Dion, Shannon Noll, Ronan Keating, etc..
What's more, no religion has ever turned people from dead set p****s to really good folks. Only Christianity has done that.
Most of you disapproving of the change of lyrics should understand that the greatest country & western singers were Christians; Frankie Laine, Jim Reeves, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton.
Furthermore, Christianity is not a religion. It is a way of life. The religions which pass themselves off as Christianity originated in Ancient Rome in the 4th Century AD when Constantine mixed Christian praise with Pagan worship. I am a Christian myself.
sorry my friend, the audio is not connected with video, and also saw him before and is better with the original audio ... let alone the classic and not be an ass!!
great music cover.. but changing the words at the end to "you gotta get "Saved" to play real cook from "Hot" is like some religious bs editing for sure!
This is ok, but the original is so much better. Be sure to watch and listen to that one too. The great comedian Stan Freeburg did all or most of the voices. Not sure who all the players were on the original, but absolutely top-notch.
Wow, that was utterly FANTASTIC !! I loved the alternate ending -- and the crowd noises -- they were obviously really enjoying it. Sure would have loved to have been there.....
I would love to see the video of the band actually playing it -- is it available?
I post at a forum where there is a fellow that used to see "Shorty" play in LA back in '47. He thanked me profusely for linking this for him. He used to hitchhike from March Air Force Base with a pal into LA from time to time. Better days, eh?
The words to the song when the pig is playing on on the piano in the house of sticks go: "Doing Liberace on the 88"
88: No of keys on the piano.
George was Liberace's brother who sometimes played violin with him. When Bugs Bunny mimicked him in a cartoon called Wideo Wabit, Liberace was there after lampooned on later Warner Bros cartoons with characters quoting that line.
Thanks. I'm glad someone could explain it, it always puzzled me. I'm a jazz noobie. Been trying to find more music like this. Not easy. It's like sugar for the ear. Makes me so happy. Recommend any artists/ albums?
@Number1AnimationFan Yea and notice how the stone building with those fancy rich people is built in May 1st 1776, the same day as the creation of the Bavarian Illuminati?
On May 1, 1776 the provincial congress (of Massachusetts Bay) adopted a resolution declaring the province to be independent of the crown; this was followed up by the United States Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 confirming the independence of all of the Thirteen Colonies (from Wikipedia).
This was the official start of the American revolution. No need to bring in wacky conspiracies.
@blindavocado So they weren't a bunch of farmers that the British bought cotton from?
They were all people working in the service industries, rich and ready to spend money everywhere, slacking off as usual? That doesn't sound like the people who fought against the British for independence...
The founders were all wealthy land owners, many were Freemasons; a very exclusive club at the time. But that is besides the point. Dude, it's a cartoon. The animators needed a date to match the lyrics so they picked the date of the 1st colony to claim independence, I guess July 4 would have been too obvious.. Again, no wacky conspiracies needed.
He's right any musician could only guess how hard that is to play with only seven people. That was awesome. If there is another band that could pull it off...post it. The change in the ending was nothing major, you can still see the cartoon.
too bad hey cahnged the final line which the best part of the whole cartoon. "you gotta get HOT to play real cool" Not that saved garbage. Other than that, those guys did a great job on an all time classic.
